    Can you do a video on the side effects of HRT. I was on it last year and had side effects so went off. I read if you have breast pain with it then that increases chances for breast cancer which freaked me out. I was only on it for 2.5 months. Now at 55 I am going back on it again after watching tons of your videos (wish I never went off it.) But thankfully my gyno let me go on again. She has me on the 0.5 estradiol patch and a pill for the progesterone and. I am actually afraid of taking because of the boobs hurting again and some breakthrough spotting. How can I get through the fear? I think a video to reassure about the side effects might help me and other women who get the side effects when starting the HRT.

      I also got breast tenderness after starting on estradiol gel/ 2 pumps and micronized progesterone. I didn’t want to mention it to my gynecologist because it took some convincing to get started on HRT at 62 yrs old. Bld test at 6 wks showed estradiol levels still very very low. Dr. Increased dose estradiol gel, 2 pumps a.m 2 pumps p.m. Still breast tenderness but not as bad. Bld levels after 8 months on HRT sill low but slowly increasing. I would love it if Kelly addressed this. In podcast she said back off but how do I ever get to a therapeutic level or something close to helping with bone health (heart and brain)

      @@mollieanne it was Dr Kelly Casperson on this podcast who said maybe back off the estradiol gel if you have breast tenderness. She didn’t explain. Hoping she will see this post and clarify. I just figure that my body is adapting to starting HRT (at 62) and that I would put up with the breast tenderness. My blood levels quite low after 6 wks and still after 7 mos. But on the rise but still low. I have no idea if tenderness is a “side effect/ benefit” that will sort itself out -soon I hope.

      @@ldavis-henry5065 well Dr. Kelly is not a gyno and she does make that clear so maybe she does not know? My gyno said some women get breast tenderness as a side effects because for whatever reason our brains respond to the estrogen more actively and sends signals to our breast receptors. She told me it is safe and will subside after a few months. I only gave it 2.5 months and freaked myself out reading too much online. I am going to go back on again though. But have health anxiety so this is not easy for me. Plus, i had some spotting and a little light pink from it that really freaked me out which is normal too and my body adjusting to the hormones. UGh, I am like you though and wanting to be on it. I know if I do not go on it worse things will happen in the future with my body. Do you do the estrogren vagina cream. I do. That is really a big deal and everyone at some point should be on it. oh and I had a transdermal ultra sound just for my own piece of mind and my lining of my uterus lining was thin so that was all good. My female gyno told me it is just a side effect to reassure me to go back on it.

    I’ve listened to these audible books: The Great Menopause Myth, Estrogen Matters, The Menopause Brain & The New Meno Pause. Each have mentioned the benefits of taking progesterone even after a complete hysterectomy. What are your thoughts? I have an appointment with my doctor Oct 16 & would like your feedback.

    I am on estrodial gel and am thinking about testosterone as well. What are the benefits of both/taken together.

    We have to do what the insurance company says more than what the doctor says. They seem to have a lot of say in my healthcare.

    What do you think about Tongkat Ali ? Its helped my testosterone but wondering if I should do testosterone instead

    • @avroe1
      @avroe1 2 месяца назад +2

      I’d like to know about the use of Tonghat Ali to raise T in post-menopausal women too! I’ve seen it used supportively by men to build muscle and it seems easy to obtain, the former is the main appeal to me. I lost my periods and was in full menopause at 37, and at that point I *should* have found a specialist, I now realize. It’s ten years later, I’m 47, and I gotta start mobilizing hormone replacement treatment. Insurance and prior authorizations have been my biggest opposition, my doctor knows how treatable this is but she is not a specialist. Insurance is denying every treatment request she prescribes 😢

    Thanks for answering my question re breast tenderness. I made a typo. Meant to say bld (not bid) as in blood levels for estradiol very LOW on 2 pumps in a.m. after a few months. Started at 63 yrs old for bone health (heart, brain, musculoskeletal syndrome of menopause). No hot flashes, night sweats. So no real observable symptoms hence thinking only blood levels will tell me if therapeutic for results I am hoping for. I will put up with breast tenderness in order to get estradiol levels up - if no contraindications. Suggestions Dr Casperson?

    I am 49, perimenopusal and have just been prescribed medroxypeogesterone acetate with estradiol gel… I went to see a different doctor for a second opinion- said the same thing, that it is perfectly safe. When I am trying to push for body identical progesterone, both looked at me like I am crazy😢 so now stuck with the Provera prescription and don’t know if I should be worried and look for a third doctor, or relax and start the HRT

      @@mollieannethanks so much! It is such a complex topic, right 🙂? By bio, I mean Utrogestan, micronised progesterone. So interesting that this is all I hear about in podcasts, youtube information, but in real life, only synthetics are prescribed. At least in my country…

    • @mollieanne

      @@agnesjuhasz7715 I deleted my comment since I did not want you to think I was over stepping the Dr. But glad you read. I have heard on most RUclips channels with actual Dr.'s is that bio is not any better than synthetic and actually they prefer synthetic since it is more regulated. I am talking about estrogen and progesterone. But testosterone might be different since Dr. Kelly said in this video she preferred bio for that hormone. Yes, this is all so complex. Back when I was 48 I was jest entering menopause, then a lot in my life with my mom dying of dementia and did not even know about HRT. Ugh, wish i had a earlier start though, now I am 55.

      I am educating my 34 and 24 year old about menopause since nobody told me anything. I thought I just would not get a period anymore and maybe some hot flashes. My mom never had symptoms from menopause and her gyno took her off estrogen when the Women's Health Initiative study came out. My mom died at 77 of dementia, and not to blame it on her not being on HRT, but we will never know.

    Hi. I want to take HRT but I suffer badly with GERD and HRT made it so much worse and uncontrollable. I only managed 7 days before I had to stop and it took 14 days for the acid reflux to improve. No-one ever mentions this side effect and wonder if this means I'll never be able to tolerate HRT.

    Hi Dr C. My gyn put me on 1/4 ml of testosterone cream this past Feb. It worked for 6 weeks and since then I can't find a dose that works. In May she increased the cream amount to 1/2 ml. I'm going back again in 2ks to discuss what to do. How many increases in amounts have you done with women ? Ik everyones bodies are different but I was curious how long it can take to get the dose right. I also do bloodwork before each visit and the past 2 bloodworks have not shown much of an increase in testosterone. The progesterone pills have been working. Thx so much
