Insta360 GO 3S: Battery Life and Charging - The Ultimate Guide
From best to worst sound quality: 1. on board mic 2. USB 3. Mic adapter. 4. Bluetooth The on board mic sound is rich and full.
One main problem with the GPS Preview Remote is that it only works with the X4 and two of the Ace cameras. It DOES NOT work with older 360 cameras.
I know - don't understand the reason. If it supported more, they could sell more!
@ttl_channel My first guess is that the GPS preview remote he uses a newer Bluetooth protocol that the older 360 cameras don't have. Or, maybe, it's a matter of the protocol used to transmit video from the older 360 cameras to a phone app wouldn't work to do the same thing the transmit video to the GPS Preview Remote. But, those are just guesses.

Very informative. It is disappointing that the Bluetooth signal is so sensitive to obstructions even at close range. The scenario that I am most interested in is when the camera is mounted on a car roof (with a magnetic mount) and the DJI Mic 2 is inside the car. The range is short, but would the car roof block the signal? Obviously the other 2 methods of connection would not be suitable when the car is moving.
You may get lucky depending on the exact placement. If that doesn't work, you could also just record directly to the DJI transmitter and sync up the files in post.
I don't understand why don't they make the mic receiver have Bluetooth? So that you don't have to plug the receiver in the camera, but have it connected to the camera with Bluetooth but the mic receiver is always close to the camera, either attached to the cage, or in your pocket even, so the connection is good. And the mic transmitters are connected to the receiver with their high quality long range connection and good audio, and the receiver just transmits that high quality audio to the camera via Bluetooth, instead of via usb or jack. Wouldn't that be genius and solve all problems? Why are DJI and Rode not doing that? Can someone please call them and tell them that I give them that genius idea for free so that they can do it for DJI Mic 3 and the next Rode! :D
I believe DJI actually goes one better than this. I cannot get confirmation on this, but it seems obvious to me that DJI embeds the dedicated 2.4GHz receiver in their cameras. Check out this video: ruclips.net/video/O9REdB3FqEI/видео.html
@ttl_channel No, no, I know DJI does this, a lot of other creators have shown this. But this is DJI exclusive feature. I want the receiver to be able to connect with Bluetooth with anything so that it would be super easy to use this with phones, other cameras, computers, and so on. :)
Thanks a lot for your great video!! However I wonder even there even is a number 4 microphone solution....if the transmitter of the dji mic 2 has onboard recording (?), then you use the clapp technique when starting recording the video. Later in post you can merge your video and external audio or not? Via this method you can also use 2 transmitters each having onboard recording. Or do I miss anything in my idea? Can you test this method?
Yes, absolutely that is an option, as long as you don’t mind the extra work in post. I may have to make a video on that.
I had to use a cage for my mic setup on my acepro 1
I'm not a fan of adding a cage. I like to keep the camera as small as possible.
Thanks very helpful
Glad it helped
Thank you for the explanations. Very clear and informative
Glad it was helpful!
The whine was gone during almost all of the video ;) It came back in your last cut though where you ask the audience to like/comment/subscribe. Maybe you've prerecorded the outro in all the t-shirts you own and cut the matching outro into the video and that's why the whine came back or the issue refaced ^^
You busted me, using an older outro. Thanks for the heads-up.
@@ttl_channel Well, kudos on paying attention to the shirt you're wearing in the video and outro then :D
I think that I'll stick with Sandisk Extreme that I am currently using with my GoPro Hero 11 when my Ace Pro 2 arrives. I've noticed that the Insta360 branded card that comes in the Ace Pro 2 Creator Bundle has the same ratings as the Sandisk except that it is only rated A1 rather than A2. This is the Application Performance Class (APC), which measures how quickly the card can perform random access input and output operations. Do you think that this matters?
No, I don’t believe the App performance makes any difference for use in a camera. I also assume that the Insta360 card is just a rebrand from one of the established manufacturers.
What model year is your Winnebago Navion?
2020
I also ran a battery of tests (pun intended) and compared the OEM batteries to the 3rd party ones. Spoiler: the EOM batteries outlasted the 3rd party batteries by 3-4 minutes on average when filming 8k/30fps ruclips.net/video/fLZTF4TdW6Q/видео.html
I frequently use 3rd party batteries in my cameras, but with the X4 (and X3/X2) the battery is part of the outer case. I actually purchased some for my X3 but rarely used them out of fear the camera would no longer be waterproof.
Thank you for this! Wanted to make sure I was still using the right one for my ace pro 2 .
Thanks for watching.
In india you can get dji action 2 brand new for $140
Good deal!
I was very interested in this camera for out on the ebikes, but no SD card I never thought that was even a thing today not to have one! It's scored off the list! 4 to go haha! Go pro maxx 2 coming with 1/1.9 and DJI announced a 360 cam yesterday leaked pics online! They look huge though like the first go pro max 360 both same chunky wide design! Insta360 x4 is interesting but not worth getting now really 8 month's out X5 will be along very soon, might hold out for that for a 360 x5
It will be very interesting to see what DJI and GoPro come out with!
Just me or standard better? 9.56 you can't make the foliage out on bush to left like in standard mode and seems as if it applies a blocker to the image when running to save space maybe? Reminds of ring doorbell cams data saver cutting out parts of the footage.
Does the camera record without breaking up your footage say every twenty minutes or consistent over the longer period into one full video , thankyou for the videos also
Like most (all?) digital video cams, the files are broken up into segments. In the case of the X4, it’s 30-min segments. The good news is that these are imported together into the Insta360 Studio, as if they were a single file. There are no dropped frames and you cannot detect the joins.
The mic one AP2 doesn't sound as Tinny if you know what i mean?
Agreed.
What would you recommend this or the dji action 5 pro? I keep hearing it's now not compatible with android since Google updated their security in playstore and found it to be harmful and security issue but dji do have a direct APK download but doesn't work on android now? Can you shed a little info on this please you just don't know what to believe and not wanting a paperweight if go buy on today and doesn't connect to my Samsung s24 ultra! Much appreciated.
Both are excellent cameras. Sorry, but I’m not an Android user, so can’t comment on that part.
I'm looking forward to visiting Alaska!
You will love it!
Thank you 🙏 Lots of good information
Glad it was helpful!
Very good video with much information. Top.
Glad you liked it!
Great video, do you think the NEW RODE Wireless Micro will work, its the same setup as the Hollyland Lark M2, the RODE should have better sound.
I guess we will have to wait to find out.
Excellent video! Thanks
You are welcome! Thanks for watching.
Can you make a video about the defect and recall of the insta360 Ace Pro 2? Very few people are making a video about it even though people who ordered the Ace Pro 2 on Oct 22 from Insta360 still haven’t received their cameras, including me.
Honestly, I’m not sure what the issue is. I managed to snag one from Best Buy when it was briefly in stock, and I’m not experiencing any issues.
Fantastic review!! If using the wired Dji mic option can you use voice gesture to start and stop recording if you are away from the camera?
Yes you can.
haven't finished watching this video but I would really appreciate it if you could test it with the X4.
I tried plugging into the X4, it recognizes a USB device, but does not connect it as an external microphone.
@@ttl_channel i also tried connecting a cheaper version of the BOYA BY-V2 (the ones you can find on Amazon), got recognized as USB device but does not connect. it also shows "SD CARD FULL" on the screen. anyway, thank you for your time and effort. more power on your channel. God bless!
So, the ace pro I bought just a few months ago will never have that kinda connectivity with Hollyland Lark M2, that was utter waste of money, don't you think a simple software upgrade can fix this problem?
Possibly, if the hardware in the Ace Pro can handle it, but IMHO not very likely that will happen.
@ yup! Usually they don’t care about old products anyway
Great video - the information was clear and super easy to understand.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is one of the best comparison reviews I've seen about the Ace Pro 2 on YT so far. The Ace Pro 2 is clearly the superior camera, IMO. I hope this camera becomes available for sale someday.
Have you tried a creating a 360 photo or video with the X4 and use a panorama creation tool like pano2vr or use a VR headset like Meta Quest 3 to view videos?
On my list - but haven't gotten around to it yet.
I've used GoPro's since the Hero 2, they all offered 25 fps including the 11 and 12. I've just spent 3 hours trying to set the 13 to 25 fps. It's a piece of over complicated garbage ☹.
Thoroughly enjoyed this review, thank you. I’ve just received my Quick Reader to use with my Go 3, however when I connect it to either my iPhone or a power bank the light just stays blue, doesn’t turn green. Insta 360 tech support are sadly lacking right now. Don’t suppose you’ve come across this issue while conducting your tests have you?
The answer to why there is no better quality from an inch matrix lies in the magic word "bitrate". So X4 has 200Mbps, and One rs has 120Mbps. Newer and more efficient electronics have made up for the quality compared to the older One rs.
Excellent! Thank you for making it clear and easy to follow!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video - thanks for sharing. I've got my GPS Remote to pair with my OneRS and Go3S. That works as you've showed on video. However, once I pull the Go3S out of the action pod, the remote no longer can connect to the standalone Go3S, which again, is a big issue as most people buy the Go3S for its size and convenience, not to have to drag the action pod along wherever you go on a bracket or mount. Have you tried this for your setup too? Will your remote still connect to the Go3S without the action pod??? Curious to know.... Thanks!!
great information, i have been using 360 cameras for around 5 years. now i have shifted to go3s for the first time. it is really a huge difference using 3s after 360 cameras a s now i have to think about camera placements whereas in case of 360 cams everything was possible in post production. another huge negative of 3s is it doesnot have horizon lock (in freeframe it does give 360deg support but cuts of field of view)
This is go pro have 360 degree view?
No, this is not a 360 camera.
sigh... I was hoping there was a way around this stupid 'feature' but I guess it is what it is. Unfortunately it renders this camera useless for my needs then.
Yeah, I don’t get why they can’t at least give us the option to disable it.
thank you for this video! its really helpull
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching.
Whilst I can see problems cropping up I have found that Insta360 are pretty good with firmware updates so I expect most of the issues found to be resolved fairly quickly. They STILL support my old One X over 6 years after its launch so they are way better than most others for support
When come in india ❤️
Thank you for this.I think I'm not going to wait any longer for the AP2. I'm going to try the DJI 5 Pro. It's smaller and can be carried on my motorcycle helmet. and it is also compatible with my hollyland lark m2
@@raulrinana Exactly the decision I made and the image quality is just fine...it's my creative ability that's lacking!
Ciao e complimenti per i video sempre utili. Secondo te a oggi, questo problema dello stiching è stato risolto con i nuovi supporti xmount360? Grazie mille
Loved this!!! Thank you for this update! Very excited to grab the pro 2
Insta360 does not even provide support for the one rs 1 inch 360 camera. I got the camera 8 months ago and they do not even sell extra batteries anymore. If your battery dies your camera dies. Fact check me. I own 6 of their cameras. If they do not support their product line with batteries, they market on a predatory basis.
Honestly, I think the RS 1-inch turned out to be a bit too niche, which is why its days are probably numbered. That said, Insta does not have a good record with accessory compatibility between generations. Let’s hope this is something that improves going forward.
Another great video and another step closer to something useable. Surely with the connectivity and processing power available on the Insta360 AP2, this capability should be embedded within the device and not requiring ugly attachments that reduce the IPxx of the camera and that adds something that can get bashed...it's an action-cam for heavens sake!
Totally agree. DJI are miles ahead of the pack in this area.
@ttl_channel I really want an AP2, it'll compliment the X4 and I like the ecosystem, but it's not there yet. Love the videos. Keep 'em coming!
Thanks for the video and the mic test, well done! Question...can you record the voice extern on the hollyland transmitter? If yes then i would suggest do all the recording on the transmitter and do not connect a receiver to the camera at all. Later in post and using handclap at the start of the video recording you can sync the video and external audio together....or what do you think?will this work much better? Next you dont need a bluetooth mic either. And your camera stays fully waterproof since you do not have to remove the door on the camera. If you think this is a great idea and solution, feel free to make a video on this so that this can be shared across your channel. Regards
It’s extra work, but in some cases, the best option. That said, I would use the DJI Mic 2 standalone transmitter - even allows 32-bit float for challenging audio.
@@ttl_channel thanks! Can you make a short video on this solution? Think this is the best overall, with some extra work, but your camera remains an action cam.
Very informative and comprehensive review. They say it is waterproof but I presume that you can't use the touch screen in the water, just the buttons maybe? I have just ordered an Insta360 Ace Pro 2 and GPS Preview Remote. If you have GPS information recorded to your video, do you know if it is possible to extract the GPS coordinates and display them or create a GPX file with Insta360 Studio or other software?
Yes, the stats (coordinates, direction, elevation, speed) are all available in the app. Not sure about the GPX file.
This is brilliant and so unique review! Thanks so much for this, man.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for the review, Im not going to get it anymore my 2nd gen remote works fine I was thinking it would be faster when connecting to my x3 and Ace pro
I think the issue is the camera, not the remote.
