      @fredericodias2103 Thank you for the kind comment! Hmm..I'm not sure to be honest as I haven't tried. However, I think it may be possible but a very diluted amount, so your carpet doesn't soak in the soap or the floor doesn't have the soap scum since the robot doesn't "rinse" your floor or carpet after mopping unlike a washing machine that rinses your clothes after the wash cycle. Please let me know if you end up trying it! 😀

    Good video i saw you have different test severs when you tested your speeds the speedtest app will automatically choose a location for you every time you open the app that's why your speeds where different after every test. I have a question, for things that need wifi such as smart home devices can you force those devices to connect to the 2.4 GHz only or will the ai in the system make them connect to 5 GHz when it doesn't need. Also do you use the 6GHz as well or only have it for the backhaul feature?

    • @kimandtech
      @kimandtech 2 дня назад

      @coldshot1611 Thank you for noticing the different speed test servers. Someone else also commented about it. I missed this part when editing and doing my tests. When I checked again after the fact by selecting the same speed test server, the results were still relatively the same as the ones in the video. However, I'll do a better job next time when presenting my speed tests. 😅 As for my smart home devices, I put them on a password protected Guest network because out August Lock was having trouble connecting to the main Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, we couldn't use the 6GHz when we had the system connected for any devices because our devices at that time didn't support the 6GHz. The Wi-Fi backhaul may have used the 6GHz if the units were able to reach each other.

    This video needs polish. It comes across like you don't know what you're talking about and nervous. Like when you constantly look to the right to read the specs or marketing from the oem. Never heard of the 2.5ghz spectrum before either. I'm not trying to be mean, I just want to provide you some honest feedback. You seem like a nice person and I don't want to discourage you but I didn't enjoy this one.

      @Toelishness Thanks for watching the video and providing your feedback! Want to share that since I could not remember all the talking points and wanted to stay on track, which was why I was looking to the side - to read my notes. For nervousness, it's some thing that I'm constantly working on. As for "2.5ghz spectrum", I was referring to 2.5GHz Band, which sometimes is called spectrum. www.fcc.gov/25-ghz-band-plan

  • @JR-jn8jp
    @JR-jn8jp 13 дней назад

    I was thinking of getting these however it seems like the device interface is so lacking compared to older systems. For example I cannot get a straight answer as to if it has access control or not. I want to ensure no new devices connect without me specifically approving because mac randomization can bypass kids restrictions. From what I read the only option is to get a notification that a new mac has connected...disappointing

    • @kimandtech
      @kimandtech 10 дней назад

      @JR-jn8jp Yeah, the access control that is available on the Deco isn't as granular as how most parents would want to use it for their kids' restrictions. I don't know how it was when the web portal was available since I didn't look into it. Surprisingly, the ASUS ZenWiFi router has a more granular option, which I went over briefly during the ASUS ZenWiFI BQ16 Pro setup. You can check it out if it's what you're looking for. I haven't gotten a chance to test it yet since work has been busy.

    Just FYI that's not a CAT8 cable you're showing there at the end. There's no need for a CAT8 cable in your setup anyways. At 500mbps you can use cat5. A CAT8 cable is THICC and STIFF. The cable itself is very close to the total diameter of their terminal connector itself. It's chonky. Glad you fixed your problem though. Hi Kim great video! I got one issue though with my S8 Pro Ultra, which is the onboard tank of the roborock itself. Not the water tank or the dirty water tank which seat inside the dock. It tends to get really smelly after quite some time. Previous model like the S7, you could remove the onboard water tank for cleaning. I've reached out to Roborock and guess what....they didn't give any solution to this obvious design flaw. Hope that you probably have encountered this issue before and can share any tips to get rid of the smell.

    • @kimandtech
      @kimandtech Месяц назад

      @MRizaE Thank you for sharing your experience. I haven't had this issue. The onboard tank on the robot itself should be clean water only, so it shouldn't be smelly. If it smells, I wonder if (1) the washing mop somehow gets the dirty water back into that onboard tank, which would mean that its a defect on the product, or (2) somehow something dirty got stuck in the onboard tank by accident. The only thing I could think of that you can do is following the steps below in order: (1) Disassemble the mop and wash with soap by hand (2) Consider cleaning the bottom of the robot and make sure nothing smells at the bottom of the robot (3) Consider cleaning the dock and make sure nothing smells in the docking station (4) Clean both dirty water tank and clean water tank of the dock (5) Run the Wash Mop function 5-6 times or more (do this after everything is clean and you haven't mopped or clean anything). This steps should run through and clean the onboard water tank. I'd recommend do a sniff check every few run to see if there's progress. Hope this helps. Please let me know how it goes!

      @wuffgang5333 It didn't seem noticeable for my regular downloads, which are small KB. As for streaming, it was working fine - nothing stellar. However, for gaming, I'm not sure as I didn't play any game. Would love to hear yours performs when you receive it! Thanks!

    Too bad AP vs router mode wasn't tested. There should be no traffic using AP mode but I bet it's the app rather than the device creating the traffic. I'll kill the app process on the phone when I do my testing. Thank you

      @coreymalis3987 I think you have a valid point! It’s too bad that we have to use the app to manage the router in non-AP mode. However, agreed that it shouldn’t be a problem for AP mode. I’ll consider testing AP mode in the future. Thank you for the suggestion!

    • @kimandtech
      @kimandtech Месяц назад

      @mattheww8059 Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts! For WiFi 7, the router companies started applying the technology before the actual devices themselves. Don’t know if the router companies are trying to be proactive. However, I think most people should wait when their environment (home) has majority of WiFi 7 devices before getting a WiFi 7 router system because it’s still in the beginning phase and is expensive. 🤑

      @kimandtech 2 месяца назад

      @xxcutive - Hello. I don't know how many LAN ports your model has. If it has 3 LAN ports, the you can have a full wired connection in multiple ways. If there are only 2 LAN ports, then you'll need to daisy chain the connection to have a full wired connection. For example, Main Router connects to Satellite 1 via wired connection, and Satellite 1 is wirely connected to Satellite 2.

Is your home more than 2,000ft² (or 185.81m²)? Please don't get me wrong, I think the Google Nest WiFi Pro would work fine for smaller homes. Of course, there's always the probability that I got a bad set if your home is my size or larger and has great connectivity and speed with just these 2 units. 😅 If the Google Nest Pro gets an upgrade, I have no problem giving the upgrade a try. 😁

    I always learn something new from your well done, comprehensive videos, Kim. I'd be really interested in a presentation about how AI is used by hackers and by corp. security folks/applications. About 3 years ago I did a guest lecture at a local college for a class on Network Security (even tho I never worked in that area). So I created a presentation: A brief history of Machine Learning and its Implications for Network Security. I covered AI techniques in gaming and speech recognition (which I worked on), ending with 2 charts on AI and security (like hackers embedding data in DNS requests to bypass firewalls or doing "credential stuffing attacks", and that some security apps use AI to learn how 'normal' apps work to detect suspicious behavior--I think that's one of the things the infamous Crowdstrike does). Anyway, with all your knowledge you might consider doing some guest lectures at colleges for extra money and exposure.

    This lady is smarter than the teams over at Netgear. They should listen to her, and not just turn a blind eye to all this. We want a safe and clean internet for all. I had some Wyze cams a few years back making hifi signals that made all the animals go nuts, and amazon people dropping boxes. I even showed some people by recording the wyze cameras with a different mic. They just laughed like security and safety is not important. Im like, you dont find it odd that the box drops at the same time as the sound that you cant hear happens?.... Main point safety and security should matter, when I lock something it should stay locked, when I destroy something it should remain destroyed.✌️

    I'm in the market for a new WiFi 6 or 6e mesh system, maybe even a 7 if a good deal comes across, but I have a question about matter, thread devices and how difficult would be to mount or use them through a network switch. Could you maybe do a video on that? Or maybe only about the matter & thread stuff cause the switch would only come into play if I buy a router with limited lan ports

    • @kimandtech
      @kimandtech 3 месяца назад

      @rockraphlegal - Thank you for your question. Want to clarify some terms to make my explanation clearer. Matter = the language the the devices "speak" for you to control them Thread = connection between the devices (think of this as like a mode of communication (e.g. WiFi, Bluetooth, etc.)) A Matter device doesn't necessarily mean that it supports Thread. I haven't looked too deep into this matter, but from what I know so far, you'll need a Matter/Thread controller, e.g. Amazon Echo, Google Nest Mini, or Apple HomePod. The network switch alone cannot control your Matter/Thread devices because it doesn't support either Matter/Thread. I hope that helps.

    • @rockraphlegal
      @rockraphlegal 3 месяца назад

      @@kimandtech thanks for the info. So, if I understand correctly, the network switch won't make a difference when using matter/thread compatible devices wherever they may be throughout my home network.

      @@rockraphlegal Yes, that's correct as the control is with the Matter/Thread controller, e.g. Amazon Echo, Google Nest Mini, or Apple HomePod.

      @VegasVaron If set up correctly, yes, it can "hide" the traffic from your router since the data since it's encrypted. Thus, making it unreadable by your router. well that's good to know about privacy. but for people still paranoid, if you don't want to register a tplink account or sign in to the mobile app to manage the device, then the eap series like say eap-773 (they have a higher tier model that cost more as well) which is part of the omada series, you can managed without a controller, with a controller (software or hardware). it's possible to create a local account and managed it via a web ui, without ever having to sign in to tplink or register an account, also you don't have to enable cloud either, or use their mobile app. though you may want to disable auto updating feature if you want to prevent being pinged i assume. so then you'd have to manually check for firmware updates manually. Or if you want to scrutinize online whether a firmware is ok to be updated to though i don't know how you would go about that. xd deco however is more newbie friendly in configuring/setting up. whereas with omada series you have to have a little more knowledge for setting it up (not overly complicated, as there are guides online like raid owl's omada youtube on omada subject). So yeah for the price as a wifi7 mesh it's quite popular. this deco series. If you want the poe version of the deco, on their website they mention it coming out probably by end of year or next year. But if you can't wait, the omada series has working poe++ omada and deco series wish mesh are not interchangeable i heard. They use different mech technologies.
