if you want to properly test the wifi speed, i suggest self host openspeedtest on your NAS. that's what i did. For client device i used a Samsung S24 Ultra android smartphone which is wifi 7 6ghz 320mhz capable. So i openspeedtest which connects from the S24U to my NAS on the same local network via wifi 7. For my EAP-773 i scored 1000-2000 Mbps @ 5meter range in direct line of sight between the client and wireless ap.
@AinzOoalG0wn Thank you so much for the recommendation!!! I'll look into this. To be honest though, it's giving us amazing speed so far with the regular speedtest.com site and no wired backhaul. I am flabbergasted! 😲 Haven't had time to check all the other features though. 😅
That looks like a great wifi mesh. You haven't encountered any issues with this mesh so far? On the other hand, that sure is one fast wifi. i was planning to buy one soon.
@seanbrillante2867 It has only gone down once, where we had to reboot all the routers. Everything was fine after the reboot. Haven't had any other issues besides that. Let me know how it goes for you if you do pick it up! Yeah, I think this may be the faster Mesh WiFi System that we've owned so far. Don't quote me on this as I'd have to check my logs. LOL
Hello, it’s definitely not your cables but something with the router and the way it negotiates speeds with connected devices. I experience the same issue randomly. Unplugging and replugging cable fixes it and if not power cycling the device being connected without powering off the router and it’ll correct itself. Asus is kinda new and a bit glitchy I noticed with mine.
@wills4109 Hello! Thank you for sharing your experience. I tried rebooting and unplugging and replugging the cable in multiple times and in various orders. Unfortunately, that didn't fix the issue for me. I do notice this ASUS to be a bit glitchy, where twice already, I've woken up to the system not working at all in the morning and had to be rebooted, which worked fine afterwards.
@ you’re welcome! And thank you for sharing as well. Have you tried disabling DFS channel? I was having the same internet drop out issue until I turned it off. I’ve only been using the iOS app for configuration, the web browser gives you more power user settings access. I’m an early adopter and passed my point of return window. I’ve been looking for videos like yours that provide experience. The other videos out there are paid advertisements and nothing really reflective of a user experience. Thank you for providing your real world feedback and responding to comments
@@wills4109 I just checked, and the "Auto select channel including DFS channels" is enabled. I'll try disabling it to see if it makes a difference. Thanks for the suggestion! Also, thank you so much for the kind words! Really appreciate it!🙏
Just FYI that's not a CAT8 cable you're showing there at the end. There's no need for a CAT8 cable in your setup anyways. At 500mbps you can use cat5. A CAT8 cable is THICC and STIFF. The cable itself is very close to the total diameter of their terminal connector itself. It's chonky. Glad you fixed your problem though. I'm getting a BQ16 in the spring (2024) and found the video interesting!
@KellerApparelCo Appreciate you sharing! Yes, CAT5 technically should support my home speed, but the CAT5E I had didn't...maybe they're both bad cables. Either that or the BQ16 Pro didn't like the CAT5E 🥺. However, let me know how your BQ16 goes!
@AinzOoalG0wn Yeah, it's the pro; it wasn't cheap. I had to make a case with my husband to get it. LOL😅 I read that it does have the capability, but it's currently not enabled - maybe with a later firmware. *Feeling hopeful 😁
Hi, does this BQ16 compatible with XT8 for the AI Mesh? I intend to purchase 1 BQ16 only as the main router and use my existing XT8 (x2) for mesh purposes.
@XecutionQ I think it should work since the specs show that the XT8 can be a Primary AiMesh Router or AiMesh Node. www.asus.com/networking-iot-servers/whole-home-mesh-wifi-system/zenwifi-wifi-systems/asus-zenwifi-ax-xt8/techspec/
@@kimandtech but can it transmit wifi 7 (10gbps) speeds when using XT8 as a node? BQ16 as the primary wifi 7 router with 10Gbps speed and XT8 as a node.
@@XecutionQ I've read that it's possible. However, it's not always guaranteed that you'll get the full feature, and if you do, it may not as consistent. This is only based on my reading since I haven't had experience with mismatching our Mesh Wi-Fi Systems. If you do try this out, please let me know how it goes. Thanks!
@GrumpyMansREVIEWS Hi. Work has been busy, and I'm still working on a different video, so I haven't gotten a chance to do any test with this yet. From a non-testing standpoint, it's been great so far.
@@kimandtech Thanks for the reply. As long as they working fine, I know they are backwards compatible but still thought some devices might have issues. I’m going to order em this coming Primeday.

@@kimandtech Of course I’ll share our experience. I’m only getting one, because I have a set of ASUS zenwifi Pro XT12. The UK model is just BQ16 because it has two 5Ghz bands whereas yours has two 6Ghz bands hence the Pro.
@lucasliewHEHEHE Yes, there are a few differences. The main difference is really that the BQ16 Pro has two 6GHz bands while the non-Pro BQ16 has two 5GHz bands.
@msahau I keep reviewing Wi-Fi Mesh Routers because I've become more curious about other brands and models. I do have a favorite so far but not sure if I'd ever settle - at least anytime soon. Thank you for watching! 🙏
Great unboxing, but how much devices can actually take advantage of the new technology most stuff won’t use Wi-Fi six or Wi-Fi seven don’t understand the purpose
@mattheww8059 Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts! For WiFi 7, the router companies started applying the technology before the actual devices themselves. Don’t know if the router companies are trying to be proactive. However, I think most people should wait when their environment (home) has majority of WiFi 7 devices before getting a WiFi 7 router system because it’s still in the beginning phase and is expensive. 🤑
Great, informative, and clear. Thank you.
@kreigax Thank you so much for the comment and stopping by!
