    Maybe do an episode about the Yes solo albums? A few are excellent, and even the Howe albums have some nice instrumentals, if you can get past the gag-inducing vocals. Chris Squire's Fish out of Water is, IMO, an undeniable prog masterpiece. And you couldn't do all the Wakeman efforts, probably, but at least Six Wives is worth a deep dive. (And he did the wonderful excerpt from that on Yessongs, so it DOES count as Yes, pretty much).

    I had given up on Yes after the wretched Tormato came out, but Drama was an absolute breath of fresh air. I loved it at the time, and as the years have gone by, I've come to appreciate it more and more. To me it was the last "great" Yes album. In fact, Drama now stands firmly their top five. (CTTE, Fragile, Going for the One, Yessongs, and Drama, if you're interested!)

    Hi, I'd like to make a comment re the Chicago album featured, actually the group of Chicago albums 5-6-7-8 are my best; contains great elements of rock / jazz -rock / acoustic -rock - magical musicianship, enjoy ! Have you heard the Krautrock bands - Guru Guru / Grobshnitt / Kraan and any Scandinavian bands like Host / Landberk / Kaamos / Wigwam / Tasvallen Presidenti ?? check them out !!

    Nice job. For my own history with this band, I loved U.S.A. and I loved Thrakattak way more than you did -- anyone who loves that huge menacing improvisatory side to the band -- indeed, who thinks it's precisely this side of the band that separates them, will love these, I think.

    Wonderful to see the superb classic 'John Barleycorn Must Die' by Traffic featured here! It's great that you spotlight such gems that often get overshadowed by the more prominent Prog giants.. 'Blind Faith' by Blind Faith (also with Steve Winwood on vocals and keys) is another excellent album that deserves more recognition!

    great haul for the new Progcouple! the biggest thing you guys could face is, you see a Prog or otherwise record you BOTH WANT. Who gets to buy and own it? Or like in a scene in the new music-themed film "The Greatest Hits", is it something that has to have "joint custody"? I must admit, a few times, I let my wife have the record we both wanted (Capital Cities "A Tidal Wave of Mystery" for example). However on Record Store Day many years ago (2019?) the GHOST WORLD soundtrack was availlable, but we found only 1 copy. And while my wife likes the film, GW is my favorite movie ever, so it was mine being a bigger fan. or if there are 2 copies, you get 2? more expensive for a couple's income/budget, but hey.

    I first heard the debut years ago , did not really understand what it was all about - then I heard Red which I enjoyed a bit more . Moving on a few years I picked up the reissues of both these records on vinyl purely on a whim and that is where my journey started with Crimson properly. During the pandemic I managed to win all the other albums up to and including Discipline ( all brand new reissues ) on an Ebay auction for around £70 in total ( bargain !) and have since added some live recordings to my collection. Good video subscribed to your Channel

    ATTWT does mark a major turning point for the band of course. Losing two conributors in short order would mark change for any band. I really like that album and Duke also because they opened places in the music for the 3 remaining members to shine. The previous albums were energetic with multiple musical ideas but also more crowded musically. I found ATTWT to be more lyrical overall than the previous albums if not as engaging. The Genesis members spoke to the phenom of discovery of music when you are coming of age 16-20 etc in the John Edgington interviews and that is true for me as I discovered ATTWT as my first Genesis album as opposed to FM or pop radio so I am biased I guess. They also acknowledges that they all became more successful after Peter and Steve left the band.

    • @SpinninProg
      @SpinninProg 21 день назад

      @@jodye613 Very well made point. ATTWT has good material without doubt. I love Duke. But I do find myself relaxing and going on a surreal journey with the earlier stuff. It's packed with the flowering of amazing talent and bravado. The later albums made more money in the moment, but I would argue that they were too rooted in a "nowness" which is causing them to age pretty badly compared to the older stuff which is seeming to be remembered with far greater fondness.
