John is a legend. Everytime you go in there, you'll always find something rare and fantastic. He is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to music and the general scene as well. Good haul folks!
He is absolutely fantastic we're mad about him! Thanks for the comment 😁
I feel like John is one of those people who will literally never be forgotten, plus he’s genuinely a sweetheart. He’s genuinely immortalised into the minds of every crate digger around here. I love that man
Beautiful city, I’ve never been! I live in Los Angeles. I need Van Halen 1984 but only the cover, since my dog chewed it up many years ago. Fortunately, he didn’t get to the vinyl which was on the turntable at the time:)
I'm looking for the original of the American heartbeat album, it brings back so many good memories of the 80s but I can't find it anywhere.
The danger of mixing dogs with vinyl. Great story. I'm smiling here. 😂
What a fab video! You're a great pair and Band On The Run wins the day. 😃
What a lovely trip back in time . I lived and worked in Cork in 2001.
I'm glad you enjoyed it 😁
Great one. Visited Cork and Bunker for the first time last summer on our Ireland vacation. I also really liked Plugd Records. Small but well curated selection.
Yes. Plugd is one of our haunts too. We hope you enjoyed your visit.
You´re so great. This video just threw me back in time to the early 80s when I was young and had three record stores in my hometown. After school I often sat there with the headphones on and listened to fantastic music. I discovered Jimi Hendrix, The Cream, Led Zeppelin and many others there. This music will live on forever in my life, shortly after I started digging deep into Progressive Rock and that´s another story living on till today (and hopefully will last till my dying day!)
What a nice comment? It's great to hear of your musical journey. Record shops like this one are becoming very rare, unfortunately. There's something almost therapeutic about thumbing through records. Long may it last for us all. 👍
Thoroughly enjoyed your journey.
Great selection of albums, top choices!
There's a great interview with Don recently come up on RUclips and I'm seeing the current line up of Yes doing the whole Relayer in May at Liverpool.
All the Best to you.
Brilliant. I saw Yes on the last date of their Close to the Edge European tour at Cork Opera House that we walked past in the video. Thanks for your kind words.
Love the depeche mode posters at the front counter.
What a great channel! First-time viewer here and prog fan. Also an ex-pat Dubliner, been exiled over here in the UK for 30 years now. Loving your videos so far. Sometime I might come to Cork and pay yous all a visit, nothing better than chatting and listening to great music!
Dermot lived over in Kingston for 14 years! Tara was born there 😁 kind of wish we were still there 🤣 thanks for the comment! Great to have a fellow Irishman on the channel 😁
@@SpinninProg Woul you believe it.....I lived in Surbiton and worked in Kingston for the first few years! Now down on the sunny south coast away from it all. It's a small oul world!
from heep to rocky horror..nice..i used to perform frank n futer in new york (where i'm from..loved seeing a bit more of cork (rory's hometown)...would love to visit there one day..who knows..stay well..peace to you both..rocky
Great video. I’m watching from the US wishing that Cork was just an hour drive away because that looked like a fun shopping trip. Also, Todd Rundgren is an amazing artist. 🎶
Thanks Brad. Let's hope you get a chance to come and visit sometime. Although, I'd happily swop the weather. 😂👍
That was so much fun going on a tour of Cork with you and seeing your record stores. My favorite part was the place (must be some kind of national shrine) where someone has put a copy of Heavy Horses on display. Whoever did that definitely wins the internet in my book--my favorite album of all time. You two are a great edition to the youtube progosphere and I am enjoying your videos immensely. Keep it up!
Thank you so much! Such a lovely comment ❤️
First time veiwer.....really enjoyed it,i love seeing folk diggin in the bins etc... at record shops 👍👍👍
Im not really a prog fan but I'll sing along to the odd tune or two .
I'll definitely be watching more of your videos....ive liked and subscribed .
Thank you so much! Such a lovely comment 😁
Love it! Saw Supertramp in Glasgow Scotland in city halls must’ve been 1973? They did the whole of CORC even with a light show and visuals behind them. Place was busy. They were incredible. Also…I was so keen to get there I ran across rd at George Sq jumping the lights and nearly got run over by a driver with Roger sitting in passenger seat . Don’t know who got biggest fright! I knew it was him cos of the long hair and not a lot of guys had hair that long back then in Scotland! I found you thro Andy Edward’s and The Prog Corner too. Great to see folks getting back into prog, jazz fusion etc. I never left it!
@@Saffy-yr8vo Great to have you onboard. Love the story. 👍
Lovely. I miss Ireland
Wish I would have known about this shop on our last visit to Cork. We were fortunate to be in Dublin during a fantastic record fair. Thanks for sharing
You'll know for next time! 😁
Hi discovered your channel and enjoyed seeing the shops in cork .. I do have crime of the century I found it cheap at a car boot sale a while ago .. we all make impulse buys 😀. Best wishes from Manchester 👍
We had a great time over in Manchester last year, we had a path worn to vinyl exchange 🤣 thanks for the lovely comment 😁
Hi, first time I’ve watched the channel. Loved it, now subbed. That Rocky Horror Show Sound Track is great, first listen to it as a teenager in the 80’s as a teenager and still know ever note to it. Bunker Records looks great. Need to get my chart across to Cork and investigate. Andy
Thank you so much for the lovely comment Andy, we're happy to have you here! 😁🙌🏻
Only discovered the channel guys. Have an 80s original of VH 1984. Keep up the good work
Thanks very much and welcome aboard 🙌🏻😁
Great to see you two out in the 'wild'. You can never have too many copies of Relayer - I have 5!
Brilliant!!! They just grew in your collection, I suppose. We have a few like that alright. Not achieved it with Relayer... Yet. 😂
Nigel of Half man half biscuit summed up Prog rock rock admirably when he said in the depths of hell there is a trap door leading to prog rock eternity. I can only imagine having to sit through anything by yes. The will to live might leave me.
Nice to see John of Bunker Vinyl. He really is a great guy. ---- If you ever find yourselves back record shopping in Cork City, you have a couple more options (if you're up for it). Besides John's Bunker Vinyl (at Camden Place over the River Lee, between the Christy Ring Bridge and the St. Patrick's Bridge) and Golden Discs, you can check out these other record stores: Plugd Records - 3 Cornmarket St, Cork Centre (say hello to Jim), 33 RPM Records - 2a MacCurtain Street, Victorian Quarter, Cork, Repall Skateshop - Sheares St. Cork Centre (Jose is your man), and finally you can take the 214 bus eireann about 20 mins towards C.U.H. to Togher and meet Ray of Music Zone - Unit 4, Deanrock Business Park, Togher, Co. Cork. - All are wonderful shops and are well worth checking out. P.S. - best of luck to the both of you and your new YT channel.
We know them all well, gotta say, John is our all time favourite. Only one that ever has a decent selection of prog!
Ex Leesider in Australia- enjoying the videos
Hon John and the boys! Come to MusicZone too! 🤘
Hi Spinnin' Proggers👋🏻
Trawling around record shops and visiting record fairs is one of my favourite pastimes. It's always exciting cos you never know what you'll find.
Relayer is excellent. I recently treated myself to the cd+dvd version with the 5.1 mix (along with the 5.1 versions of The Yes Album, Fragile, Close To The Edge, and Tales From Topographic Oceans. Don't tell my better half tho cos she'll kill me if she finds out how much they all cost🤫)
Love the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I went to see it around 15 years ago and would love to see it again.
Congratulations on graduating Tara🥳
What were you studying? I've been studying history part time with the open university. Still got 3 years to go before I graduate.
Hope you've got your favourite Jethro Tull songs chosen for Sunday's Prog Corner livestream Dermot. It's almost impossible to choose 10, there's so many songs that are worthy.
Maybe you could do a weekly video of "what we've been listening to this week"? That way you can cover new discoveries, old favourites, and prog adjacent stuff.
Keep it prog guys🤘🏻
Thanks Terry! I was studying Digital Marketing, well I'm still studying it because I want to get to PhD level 😁 Very jealous of your Yes purchases! Dermot is working away at his list, he's finding it hard to choose 10! Hope you enjoy his appearance on the Progstream 🙌🏻 thanks a million for your comment and the support!
Love your vid. Btw, if you like Rundgren's Hermit of Mink Hollow you'll faint when you hear his Something/Anything? double album, his magnum opus. Another favorite of his is The Ballad of Todd Rundgren (whose only flaw is it's a bit under produced). A great artist, and influential producer that's had his hands on many iconic works by other artists.
I really like The Hermit of Mink Hollow. The man must have an amazing mind to put that together on his own as he did. I'll definitely check out your suggestions. Thanks.
@@SpinninProg Thx. Btw, love you and your partner's choices. I have most of them in my record (over 2,000 LPs) and CD (even more) collections, mostly bought back in the 80's, 90's when I first started collecting -- expensive hobby even back then...lol).
I was born, raised and still live in Metro Detroit, and there used to be a fantastic, huge, used record store (it was like a record warehouse) I visited weekly called Car City Classics that unfortunately went out of business. My first love buying albums was late 70's Punk, so have a lot of Clash, Ramones, The Jam, The Saints, Sex Pistols, Eddie and the Hot Rods, etc, New York and California punk scene bands in my collection, but branched out rather quickly to embrace everything from 1920's Jazz to new releases from just last week. My collection also Includes a lot of prog rock. There's always new stuff and old, forgotten reissues coming out, so a music collector will NEVER get caught up getting everything one wants. It's a (nice) hazard of the hobby I guess.😉😁
Wow just found your video. I visited John's shop in Cork when I was on holiday in Ireland. So it was great to see. In case you're interested I picked up two Man albums, a record by Help Yourself and Pi😢g Irons self titled album. I'll be tuning in again😊
Thanks a million. We will be visiting John again in the future. I hope the Man albums were good... Which ones were there. Please subscribe, if you haven't. That way you won't miss any of our content. 😁
@@SpinninProg I picked up 'Back Into the Future' (1973) & 'The Welsh Connection' (1976). I've subscribed & will be checking out your previous videos👍
@@johnbramley9037 Two great finds.
Nice, Moon Safari is spectacular!!
Agreed!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
@@SpinninProg “La femme d’argent” is one of my “play as loud as you can get away with”songs (which I just did 😄)
@@philvogelfilmsAbsolutely fantastic song and I agree, the louder the better!! I do that with Playground Love from the soundtrack album they did too!
Hey Dermot. I thought Bunker Vinyl was our little secret. Now the whole world knows. I won't be able to pick up my favorite '80s metal for love nor money now!
I wouldn't worry about that. I'd say the '80s metal will be safe with our community. 😂
Great wee video, we have similar tastes for sure... Zappa, Tull, Supertramp, Procol, Stones, Oh....and AIR....Whoop whoop. Mic up so we can hear you both a bit clearer. Luv fi Scotland.
I've just arrived in Edinburgh, great to have a Scot on the channel, thanks for the comment! 😁
Fun video, cool stores.
Relayer has been my favorite Yes album for over 20 years. If you haven't seen RaelNYC's doc on it, or possibly around that time (Going for the One, or Olias?..I forget), he does talk about why Moraz didn't end up in the band after the Relayer tour. Come to think of it, I think it was the Drama documentary he did.
I just made a Vinyl/Collection haul of my own. Although I'll admit, most were mailorder. My last record store trip was scarred with my car being hit by some Courier driver after I walked out, on Black Friday (Black Friday Record Store Day).
Oh yes we love RaelNYC's videos! They're absolutely fantastic! I know the story with Moraz but still always wish he was kept on for another album, it would have been incredible! So sorry to hear about the accident on Black Friday that sounds awful!
'Face The Music' is a great ELO album too.
Some great finds there Spinnin Prog Heads. Crime Of The Century is in my top 10 albums. Tintsletown Rebellion is a blast and has my favorite version of Brown Shoes Don't make it. 1984 is a killer album. Sadly due to the lack of vinyl stores, the hour and a half car ride, and price I have to use Spotify alot but i do try to buy a CD of the bands I really like to support them.
Sounds like a similar story to Ireland! So tough getting to record stores :(
If you bought Moon Safari, you have to have HAVE TO get Serge Gainsbourgh, historie de melody nelson. The production is outstanding! Same bass player who played on Lou Reed walk on walk side too....its so good. Going to buy it right now myself. You will hear AIRS influences immediately
Wow sounds fabulous! I'll definitely check it out, thanks for the suggestion 😃
@3:06 meeting John in Bunker Vinyl, must be great store as they have a Bass Agenda (ba) sticker on the front of the counter.
John is fantastic to support people like that!
thats funny to see you in the bunker .
i am from the netherlands but my son lives in cork and i think we met you there last year in october .both shopping .

Moon Safari, quite a nice pick. You should check out OTT - Skylon (etc)
Snow in Vancouver!
I’ve got the deluxe Irish Tour ‘74.
Complete recordings of all 4 shows.
I love record stores and God forbid that
I should collect them! I would in big trouble!
I would be joining Vinyl Anonymous:
“It all started with an innocent 45.”
I don’t want to say those words.
So all my music is digital preferably
Hi-Res and Lossless. If collected
records where would I sit? I’m living
In a small one bedroom flat.
I’m a Frankaholic.
Tinseltown isn’t one of Frank’s better albums.
You still need it though!
I saw ELO a few years ago and was completely
gob smacked. It was incredible.
I used to have a large oil painting that a
girlfriend of mine painted of Crime of the Century.
Sadly lost in a house fire 20 years ago.
I love A Salty Dog by Procul Harum.
Something/Anything is still my go to for Todd.
My third fave Stones album.
Oh..oh…Van Halen…hmmm…
Air! I’m an electronica phreak.
Boards of Canada listen to that!
Barabajagal is my fave Donovan album.
I’m curious about the “new” Band on the Run.
Yes please.
I used to attend Rocky Horror on a semi regular basis
in the early 80s. Lot’s of rice and toast!
Just listened to Around the Fur this morning!
I love Smallcreep’s Day!
Sorry for the long post.
But I was typing while watching.
I’m participating. lol.
🤘😳🤘
Thanks for the participation Ian, we love seeing your comments come in! 😁
Prog in the Kingdom, nice one
Stylus record shop in Lichfield England is worth a visit, they have lots of used and new vinyl.
We love spending time in the UK and going to quirky record shops there. You're very lucky with the amount that are still operating there. You never know, we could appear in Lichfield at some time. Thanks for letting us know about the shop. 👍
Stones album on clearance? Did you check the expiration date before purchase?
😂😂😂😂
Hi from dj Paul from together fm Dublin I am a big music fan I have over 400 💿 💿 💿 💿 some vinyl albums 7in vinyl singles 12in vinyl singles back in the day we had over 20 music stores now we have just 3 in Dublin l love going to the local muisc store buy music I don't download at all because it killed the music stores that why we just have 3 music stores in Dublin I love all styles of music
👍🏼
I haven’t been to a real record store in so long…
Come to Ireland! 🤣🤣
Anywhere decent in Cork to buy some deep house/techno these days?
John does it all, go into the Bunker and you'll find all of that! 🙌🏻😁
@@SpinninProg I will do thanks mate o/
I hate modern vinyl. Its so sanitised, mainstream and heavy as well as bloody expensive.
Part of the fun of buying records for me in the late 70's/early 80's was going into a record shop and getting a bargain. I still love the randomness of it all.
The Bunker is ideal for that 🙌🏻
I'm with you on the expensive bit. But I love how modern vinyl is more weighty though.
funny how you try not to listen in front .before buying i do that also
It's nice to take a chance now and again. 👍
Crime of the Century, one of my "heritances" from my long past father...
Be careful. You can get a copyright strike just having records playing in the background.
We're well aware, all good :)
Van Halens first LP 4GBP
I hope the money was slapped down and it came into your possession immediately. 👍
The Peoples Republic Of Cork

I prefer compact discs better value then records
We prefer records!
A song based on da dream of some carps? Sounds fishy.
