SR 34067 A Cautious departure from Carnforth as Tangmere returns to mainline running 20/12/24
SR 34067 returned to mainline running today with a delayed stock move from Carnforth to Holgate Siding ready for tomorrows Edinburgh Christmas Market Charter, wet and windy condition today made filming a nightmare with one camera lens getting a good soaking and another some spots on which was unfortunate, we see Tangmere cautiously departing Carnforth by Midland Shed with twelve on and 47832 on the rear and unfortunately the lineside vegetation is getting worse at this location even after leaf fall, hope you enjoy and thanks for watching.

Nicely captured in a less than ideal day Nige, infact it wasn't fit to be out but did get a bit better for Tangmere, very nice and great to see it back out on the mainline, cheers . 😉
Nige, Good to see Tangmere back in action. I hope you have a Great Christmas and New Year. Regards, John
I was surprised to see Tangmere passing Raolcam York yesterday. Good to see the repair did not take too long.
Not a good day to be out Nigel but thanks for the efforts. Very atmospheric 😊
Super video Nige :)
Many thanks for your lovely comment Simon, hope you have a great Christmas and New Year, best wishes nige🎄
Well done Nige you dont miss a trick.Great action shot on a grim day, lets hope that Tangmere performs ok on the trip to Edinburgh. Thanks for the bonus and all the best. 🎅🍷Brian
Many thanks Brian, it was always worth chancing it that the forecast could be wrong but not this time unfortunately, a cautious climb over the ski jump on wet rails but seems to be doing ok on the charter, all the best Brian and maybe we’ll bump into each other next year, nige🎄🎅🏻🚂
Great stuff Nige , grim conditions but well worth it 👍Thought you might try this location 🎥👍
Thanks Steve, one of those days as you can’t control the weather, thought it worth a look but even with the leaf fall still an obstructed view down the line, cheers🎄
A very nice video nige well done great camera work as usual I am really looking forward to seeing your next video I hope you get a nice video next time also when is your next video going to be on RUclips bye for now Philip
Many thanks Philip and much appreciated as always, not sure when the next one will be so best wishes to you and your family for Christmas and hope you get some lovely presents as well, nige🎄
Nice captures Nige in unpleasant conditions to say the least
Thanks Austin, It’s been a while since everything got soaked and just to rub it in it brightened up after Tangmere had passed by ☹️ best wishes to you and Pam so hope you have a lovely Christmas and New Year, cheers nige🎄
Good captures Nige, good to see some steam going. Yes getting very overgrown now.👍
Thanks David, not ideal conditions but it’s steam and another spot where the lineside vegetation is taking over, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you, cheers nige🎄
Im no expert on steam loco's. But tangmere does not sound right.
Its because WCR don't have a clue on how to set it up properly, why they don't get advice from Rileys or Southern Locomotives beats me!
Me neither Russ so will leave that to the experts, it was her first run out since the cylinder repair, cheers🎄
The Exhaust beat sounds diseinctly odd not its usual bark at all is the timing off??
Yep,WCR can't set it up right, its all over the place
Couldn’t say Laurence as I’m not an expert on theses things, cheers 🎄
Thanks for this capture Nige in unpleasant looking conditions. Glad they've got Tangmere in quick time back even if a bit more fettleing is needed. Fingers crossed for tomorrows trip. Take care - Chris
Thanks Chris, yes a lousy day alright as everything was soaked but still it was worth it to see Tangmere returning to service after a short while out, cheers nige🎄
Nice to see Tangmere back Nige. Nicely captured. Have a nice Christmas. Jeff.
Many thanks Jeff, yes good to see her back running again, best wishes for Christmas and the New Year, nige🎄
Excellent video of Tangmere in the challenging conditions Nige. Hoping to see her on the tour tomorrow. Cheers - Allan. 🙂
Many thanks Allan, look forward to watching your footage and hope you have some better weather conditions, best wishes for Christmas and the New Year, nige🎄
Wonderful video - worth the suffering of photographer 9and loco, by the look of things). Thank you - and have a good Christmas!
Many thanks for your lovely comment Robert, unfortunately we can’t pick the weather, best wishes for Christmas and the New Year, nige🎄
Well hello there Nige, thought steamers had finished for the season? 🤔 OK, Ol' 'Tangmere' does sound very 'weak' and offbeat and that 'buzz box' has come in useful eh? Not my favourite engines as you know, I suppose all the 'good stuff' is elsewhere or in the 'shops'. Thanks again Nige, and this is a good time to wish you a very Merry Christmas, thanks for all your excellent videos during 2024. Heres to next year, and quite simply just keep 'em coming. All the very best. 🎄😉👌👍
Hi George, just the odd ones now but mainly out of our area, first time out for Tangmere since her cylinder repair so taking it easy on that section and insurance on the rear as well as heating on tomorrows charter, the Black 5s are on Polar Express duty in Edinburgh, Wensleydale and London at present, best wishes to you and yours George Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, kind regards nige🎄🚂🚂🚂🎄
Nice Footage there Nige. It's good to see Tangmere back up and running again, I hope she leading this Sundays ECS move rather having a diesel on the front?
Thanks Andrew, hopefully everything goes ok on the Edinburgh run and you get your wish on Sunday, hope you have a great Christmas and New Year, cheers🎄
@@nige7577 Merry Christmas and Happy New year to you Nige. Might see you around in the near future hopefully on the S & C?
Now you did brave the elemants to get this video, thanks for sharing. Hope you and your family have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Thanks Alistair, just one of those days unfortunately the rain direction was catching the lens apart from the opening shot which, all the very best to you and your family Alistair wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, nige🎄
Great film - when I lived up North, this excursion was the one on which I always travelled - in First Class. I recall a long wait in Hellifield loop when 46115 failed, and a timed 72mph behind 44932 on the WCML- which when I asked the driver what speed he was doing, he and the inspector answered with straight face "60"
Many thanks Stewart and thanks for watching , I remember both those occasions being at Clapham, Hellifield and Giggleswick Bank for 44932 and again at Clapham and patiently waiting around the corner at Haw Grove crossing until word reached us that the Scot had failed, and you obviously got the right answer from the driver of 44932 🤫 😂 cheers 👍
I was on this train, a very special but very long day
@@TwigmoorWharf Many thanks for watching and hope you enjoyed your day behind Flying Scotsman, cheers 👍
Great video Nige :)
Thanks Simon that’s much appreciated, cheers 👍
Nice but the loco seems to have something stuck to its face ??
Thanks Phil, they must have put a brush on the front to clear the way 😂 cheers 👍
I can't be alone in thinking,if my eyes were closed, that they sound like a Class 50.......
Thanks for watching Mark, both English Electric so very similar power units I would think, cheers 👍
👍
Many thanks Russ, cheers 👍
Bit of a dirty trick, that! Suppose there was a reason . . . . Well done, Nige, anyway - bet it was cold, there!
Thanks Alan, would have been nicer with steam on the front but I suppose with two 47s going as well not a great deal of coal would be used, I was well insulated so wasn’t too bad, cheers 👍
Nice one again - hope you were wearing more layers than an onion lol - thanks for sharing this with us much appreciated
Always a pleasure Louise, I much prefer the cold conditions to the rain so was prepared and well insulated, cheers 👍
Another lovely video nige well done great camera work as usual I am really looking forward to seeing your next video I hope you get a nice video next time also when is your next video going to be on RUclips bye for now Philip
Thanks Philip and much appreciated as always, not sure at the moment when the next one will be, cheers 👍
Super shots and this seems to be a repeat of last years Polar Express services around the Edinburgh Sub but with the addition of a steam loco which should generate much more interest.🌲👍
Many thanks Stephen, hopefully a very successful season on the run up to Christmas, cheers 👍
Great video thanks for sharing 👍🙂
Many thanks and glad you enjoyed watching, cheers 👍
A cold day indeed today Nige, you were rewarded with some good exhaust in the frosty conditions, just think if it had been leading, a great pan, cheers Steve . 🎥
Thanks Steve, yes nice and crisp that’s why I decided to do the top of the bank even with the diesel piloting a decent exhaust was near enough guaranteed in the cold air so well worth the trek, cheers 👍
Perfect use of zoom and pan.
Many thanks Derek that’s much appreciated, cheers nige👍
Great video Nige, its a pity they used the diesel on the front.
Thanks Alistair, not how we would have liked it but well worth going for in the frosty conditions, cheers 👍
Nige, A worthwhile capture in what looks like very cold conditions. Regards, John
Thanks John, nice and cold but don’t mind that and well worth the trek, regards nige 👍
Super video Nige :)
Many thanks Simon and much appreciated, cheers 👍
Cracking morning Nige. Was it warmer up there? Or maybe not as cold.
Thanks Ivan, yes a cracking morning and no it was still cold with a white frost on the grasses behind me, cheers 👍
A definite 'if only ' there Nigel. Would have been great to see the Five solo in such conditions. Good filming anyway
Thanks Austin, it would have been a great show if the Five was leading but not to be, cheers 👍
Very good Nige, cold making the exhaust hang in the air.
Thanks David, you can’t beat a frosty day and very little wind for a good exhaust trail, cheers 👍
Lovely stuff nige nice day for it 😊
Thanks Graham, yes nice and cold but lost the sun as the morning went on, cheers 👍
Nice Footage there Nige, shame there a diesel on the front of 45407 again
Thanks Andrew, yes it would have been better on the rear, cheers 👍
Outstanding Nige , certainly the best place to be in those conditions 🥶Doesn’t get any better than this unless the five had been leading 👍
Thanks Steve, it was even better when I first arrived with the sun out and a hard frost as well as the lower end of the bank like a soup of mist, well worth the trek in the end, cheers 👍
@@nige7577Always good to try a different shot I’d say 😊
'Hot off the press' as my phone lit up "Nige757". As you know only too well 'buzz boxes' don't do a thing for me - but I have to comment on your superb camera work Nige... If only for the smoke screen through the frosty mist. No doubt an easy run for the 'Black un's' crew. Thanks for being there once again Nige.👍
@@Geo46115 Many thanks George, it would have been much better if the ‘Black un’ was leading but it’s a stock move so it’s understandable and with a nice crisp frost I expected there should be some decent exhaust even it being piloted so worth the trek, my pleasure George, kind regards nige👍
Very nice, got that at Lockerbie, i was surprised to see two class 47s on the move!
@@JimmysTransportMarvels Thanks Jimmy, the extra one must be needed for shunting for something, cheers 👍
Lol - saves on the coal sir.... thank you for sharing this with us much appreciated
Thanks Louise, yes you have a good point there and times are hard so every nugget counts 😂 cheers 👍
Nice Footage there Nige. I went to film 45407 just outside of York and then the 57 was on the front
Thanks Andrew, not what we were expecting either but still worth catching as we were there, cheers 👍
Good captures and got some exhaust out of her.
Thanks David, yes assisting the diesel by the looks of the exhaust, cheers 👍
Very nice Nige , not the outcome we wanted but at least it was dry 👍😂
Thanks Steve, one of those days unfortunately and yes at least we stayed dry, cheers 👍
Nige, A most enjoyable video. Regards, John
Thanks John, glad you enjoyed watching the Black 5 doing what they are good at, regards nige 👍
Nige, Great captures and at least the Five appeared to be under power. Regards, John
Thanks John, giving the diesel a helping hand I would say, regards nige 👍
Nice video Nige :)
Thanks Simon, cheers 👍
