I have to record bass direct instead of miking up the amp (to avoid apartment eviction.) So I'm always looking for ways to "amp up" my bass tone and make it stick out more in the mix. I've been a long time SansAmp user but their overdrive sounds horrible going direct because there's no cab sim in those. I think it's time to upgrade to that pedal you got there. It's awesome and loaded with features. The Darkglass clean tone sounds a little plain to me. Maybe that's on purpose so you can add the overdrive and turn it into an SVT machine. Great video. You've convinced me to buy one!

Wow, Hondo! I so really like your bass sound in the bonus jam. Such a fat lovely bass. I wonder how much of the sound is shaped by the instrument and how much by the preamp, eventually? Any hints on this - what do you think? Heard the neat bonus jam a dozen times by now. The sound (its frequency structure) makes the track so desirable and for me is a very good example of how the attractiveness of a track is fueled by an appealing sound of its instruments and besides the composition is so having a substantial impact on the track. Find this often underestimated, but it's of course also very subjective, though. Got here from Janek's channel and - I like it here! Trying to define a bass sound I do like and have to say, this video helped me to getting closer ...

For those who are worrying it doesn’t sound nice- the isolated sound is not really how you would judge this but in the mix you will be surprised how versatile this type of tone shaping flexibility will help your overall band sound good. Will keep in my watchlist interesting pedal!

Thanks Bro! I really appreciate that you have demonstrated this pedal, because I have the Pork&Pickle and it is only okay and it does not have a lot of bottom end. I listened to their demo when it came out and I was impressed but I think that the video was very well orchestrated with the theatrics of a western vibe. And at the end of the video they pour some BQ sauce on it. We have winner, so I thought? Well the MXR Is pretty awesome and takes care of that issue. ✌️🤙

Sounds killer! Really like the version you have here, but having difficulty finding one like that on the market. What version do you have? Also, I have an Eden WTDI. It gives great low end, but I'm wondering, do you think this would sound better after the DI to give it some edge and make it sound less sterile and round off the edges, or before the DI to kind of overdrive it? Great review! Such a shame they don't now (MBD3 is a great new version - still) have a smaller footprint like the MBD2. This video really helped me decide and camp out on ebay, reverb, and others to look into getting it. You were NOT kidding about the old school to the teeth rattling possibilities. That pedal sounds killer 😎🤘🏻🎸 master effects makes such phenomenal pedals. I would totally buy this if I needed a new distortion pedal. I also liked the super 800(since I’m a huge gk fan) and I would buy that too if I needed a new preamp pedal.

Awesome clip 😎🤘🏻🎸 that preamp pedal sounds pretty cool. Especially with distortion pedals. And I personally think preamp pedals sounds better with cab simulators. It makes it sound smoother and more presentable in the band mix. I’ve been checking out other preamp pedals made by master effects and I would totally purchase the super 800(especially since I’m a long time gk player). Other than that. This is a great sounding preamp pedal.

Awesome, but there is something I don’t get…the Mid Frequency Selection affects the tone even tho the mid level is flat ? How is that ? Isn’t it supposed to be minimal ?
