Hey Hondo! Johan from the Lowendlobster crew. I am absolutely blown away by your cinematography and production quality. I have a lot to learn but glad to know you, sub and learn!
Great demo and review. I love the first soundclip with both pickups and the tone 100% open. Would love to hear more of that. Guess it would be a good companion for my p bass, both covering different grounds And the looks are awesome!
@@HondoFelder Thanks for making this content! That Darkglass head you're using for recording might also be on my wishlist (currently I'm using a UAD Solo 610 straight into Ableton and afterwards I re-amp the signal with the UAD Ampeg SVTVR)
How do you get that bass tone in the opening jam? I've been trying in a recent track, but my bass still has way too much bite and attack. I'm guessing it's a combo of flatwound strings, playing with your thumb, and the tone of the bass itself? I think what impresses me is it still cuts through even with very little high end content.
100% on the nose. Playing with flats and with your thumb is a ton of that kind of sound, and I also had the tone rolled a bit, so that helped. This bass was perfect for that sound! When the synth lead comes in, I switch to playing more regularly to get it to cut through all the synths 🤘🏽
@@HondoFelderThanks for your reply. The reason I ask is that I have Thomastik Infeld flats on another bass short scale bass (TY# JF324, 0.043-0.106 for 32" [short scale basses]) and the silks are red, not blue. The only flats I'm personally familiar with that have blue silks are D'Addario Chromes. I did put these on the my new Grez Mendocino shortie and I'm not loving the tone. I was going to try the TIs if I have to, but at $100/set, I'd thought I'd ask first.
Nice demo as allways.😊👍🏻 ...but the instrument itself is not for me.🙄 I like low tunings and pointy instruments...😅😇 I also have short fingers, so the 30" scale (same as on my B.C. Rich baritone) is very tempting but that don't go too well with thic strings and low tunings...😔
spectacular video in terms of production quality, information, and GROOVE.
Thank you brotha! So glad you dug it.
That stereo jam was awesome Hondo, nice work!
Beautiful bass. Beautiful music. It's got some of the Hofner thing happening but more clarity on tap. Thanks for the great video!

Hey Johan!! Dude, such a pleasure getting to meet you and the rest of the lobster crew. Really hope we get to hang again some day!🤘🏽🦞
Love that neck pickup sound all on its own. So sweeeeet! Nice demo.
Hondo, I really love your slow ambient jams. The jam at 7:41 is so beautiful. That is one good looking and good sounding bass.
Thanks brotha!! 😁🤘🏽
love the intro and bass sounds great!
Great demo dude. Sounds and looks amazing. Needed more fuzz though. ;-) Still listening!
I knew there was something I forgot🤦🏽. Lol. Thanks for watching brotha!
Sounds really warm in its thump, I really love that it’s a portable size. The distortion was paired nice with it too!
i love everything about this
Thanks brotha!

Totally agree. It’s such a different sound from a P, but also badass haha. Thanks for watching!

Sounds awesome! I may have to look into one of these.
There is a really interesting scooped sound to these pickups. It marries so well with the open/woody tone of the semi-hollow body.
Right!? So nice!
Oooh, that's nice. I want one!
Me too! Lol
So nice.I love my Dano Longhorn so I can imagine how good this must be.A Stunner look wise too.
That’s a beauty
18 frets?! How did I miss that part? I need one just so I stop wanting to play so high up on the neck 😂
I wonder if they offer other pickup configurations? Although I guess since this model is so new they might not have gone into that yet.
That would be an up charge for the routing I’d imagine, but they might be down! I wonder myself what some other stuff would sound like in there…🤔
@@HondoFelder My first thought was like an H22 goldfoil (from Curtis Novak)
Excellent choice!

Nice video. Could you tell me what kind of flats the bass is wearing?
Thank you! Thomastik Infeld flats, if I remembered correctly.

I'm assuming these are single-coil pickups, with noise-canceling when both pickups are together?
Yessir!
I'm really digging this bass. Also like that it's short scale. $2800 though 😭
Yea it ain’t cheap, that’s for sure. In my humble opinion though, it’s worth saving up for.
How does it balance on a strap? Neck dive?
I didn’t notice even a bit of neck dive 🤘🏽

Lol fair enough!
I am GASing for one of these hard after watching this...
It was VERY hard to let this one go back to grez haha. I highly recommend it!
if this had an added middle pickup...
Not a bad idea at all!
