    Treble bleeds are a horrible idea. And flat sound bad. Simple 50s wiring will take care of that, and takes zero extra parts. A treble bleed needs to be tuned for that guitar the pot taper, and the pickups, and yet will still not work as well as simple Gibson 50s wiring. The only downside to that is volume and tone become interactive. I find that an unlimited amount of different tones can be had wiring this way. It’s just a different loading happening. One loads the pots, the other the pickups. I will also let out something else, wiring the tone only to the bridge on a tele is a very good idea. Set the amp up using the neck, then use tone on the guitar to set the bridge. A very smart guy from Nashville Zac turned me on to this trick.

  • @MrGibsn1960
    @MrGibsn1960 Месяц назад

    Chris, we recently had a hurricane run course through Houston earlier this month. Unfortunately it forced us to remove our largest pine tree. I kept two huge chunks of the base of the trunk to cut into slabs and eventually make into a guitar. Wish I could pick your brain on things but I think I’ve got a few years to wait yet.

    • @chrisreynoldsguitarmaking
      @chrisreynoldsguitarmaking Месяц назад

      @@MrGibsn1960 I’m sorry to hear of your plight. Pine is generally not a great wood to build electric guitar necks out of. But if it’s dense and stable you can make a body or two from it. I’ve seen some successful builds using harder specimens. Spruce is used extensively in acoustic guitar tops but it’s generally very high grade spruce which is a variation of pine. Spruce has individual needles that attach directly to the branch rather than in finger like clusters. To be honest. I would be realistic about what you can use in guitar making.
