I hope you all enjoy this episode. We are moving this month so big changes ahead. Hope to post more on the move and the house here or on a new channel where you can watch me flounder and fail in style. Cx
Well Chris, I finally caught up with your latest episode. I've began to view you as a friend & the bits of news you put on your videos are enjoyable too! I’ve been playing guitar since I was a young teenager (nearly 30 now) and I’m not an awful player. But I stumbled across your channel about a year ago now, and you’ve inspired me to learn more about the other side of these instruments and begin customizing and building guitars myself, which I never would’ve thought I could do. I want to thank you for creating this content for us, because it has opened a totally new door for me on my guitar journey. Congratulations on the new home and best of luck, from Texas, USA.
Thanks for sharing your story Brandon. It’s knowing that you have inspired that is the greatest reward for the effort involved in making videos. It’s a joy to hear that you have inspired someone to do something. Thanks for your input and. Hope you enjoy your new direction.
I started with a desire to get a 24.75” scale on a Strat body during the pandemic/shutdown. It’s been an interesting learning curve. Finding this channel just now is an inspiration to push in a bit deeper with my builds/assemblies, thanks! And I hope the move goes well.
The new place looks great Chris 👍🏼😊. Dont worry too much about distance from family, its just a short trip to either get back to UK or have them visit you. As an Aussie, I always chuckle when you Brits worry about travel distances. We travel thousands of kms to see family and friends all the time here, and barely think about it. You will find it just becomes a matter of perspective 😊

@@chrisreynoldsguitarmaking happy for you, I wish you all the best for the future in our beautiful country, and I continue to follow your channel, I like it a lot.
Love your channel - the production value and time you put in is evident every time I watch. Regarding relicing, I look at some of these old player guitars that are beat to a pulp and wonder why. After all, if you're a professional musician, this is the instrument that you create with and make money with. Why on earth wouldn't you take better care of it?!! And then this entire industry that's been created to intentionally beat up a beautiful guitar(and make us pay for it!!) just seems so silly. If you like the look of a heavily reliced guitar, why don't you start with a nice finish, put on a big ol' belt buckle, play the crap out of it, throw it around, whatever . . . at least you will have earned it. Just my two cents. Thanks for the videos.
@@wilhen1 Thanks for your kind words. It does take a lot to make these videos. I haven’t done one for a while as I have moved country this year and there is a lot to do. I get a lot of comments on relicing. I always go to lengths to explain it’s optional. You can spray it brown if you like. I do it when I think it’s appropriate to the build or if I fancy making something that looks vintage. It’s not obligatory. It’s simply a finishing option. The Strat build was a chance to play around with the many bin end half empty cans lying around. A bit of fun. I’m not committed to it. I don’t do it on all builds. I feel about as strongly about it as tee shirts. They are fine and functional. But I have no deep feelings. I’m not beating up a 57 Strat for the hell of it. I’m having fun with a guitar that I have created. I’m not making anyone pay for it and I might scrape it all off and paint it green. I did the neck three times. Guitar making like any art is in flux until you put you tools down and stop work. So quite honestly it’s not a big deal. Thanks for watching and I hope to be creating new content soon. C
Congratulations on your move! I have a question and I hope it's not stupid, do you speak French? I would be terrified of moving to a country that spoke a different language. But I am envious of people who are fearless enough to give it a shot.
My French is passable. I sound better than many Brits and I’m bold. But my grasp of grammar isn’t great. We will get by. It’s simply a case of trying. C

NICE!
Thank you! Cheers!
Just so I'm clear, the ferrules go in first? All the best with everything.

Ha ha. They do. Good to hear from you Jah. Thanks for your good wishes. C
Where are you moving to Chris?
Near Poitiers in France. A small town nearby. C
To be fair, Bruce also plays with the dead so he's got no shortage of creative outlets. 😁
That’s good to know. I imagined him waking up screaming in tune to the track.
Relicing? Really? Sorry Chris, that's me out. Good luck in France.
Stay tuned Peter. This may not be the end of this story. You could be surprised the direction this goes. Nothing is set in stone when there’s a power sander available. C
@@chrisreynoldsguitarmaking I should have said "That's me out on this one". I'm not going anywhere and really enjoy the channel. Looking forward to future installments. BTW just a heads up - you have the title to this vid as "Part 3".
