I wanted to dedicate this film to my wonderful friend Daniele Casabianca, who made me sensitive to Dvorzak's wonderful music. Last year I took a trip to Prague, which gave me a huge amount of musical inspiration - I wrote this transcription for my instrument and finally managed to record it in a preliminary version. Phone recording of my interpretation of this beautiful piece. Celesta is still not finished, but I recently added higher octave and working on lover too( when we finish it will be nearly 7 octaves). Making it so large require so many experiments and materials, so still haven't had money to buy some normal camera for recordings.

G. Gershwin- "The man I love" on celesta
Your Celesta is very beautiful and has a wonderful, resonate quality to it! I am trying to build a celesta too. I don't have the budget to do lots of experiments, and was wondering exactly what kind of metal you would recommend for the bars, or if you would be willing so sell any of your old ones... I am planing on a standard range of C4 - C8.
@@stephanierauh7105 Thank you! No, I dont keep old bars sadly. Bars here are made of 11different alloys, according to what I wanted to create. Bars can be made almost of all metals which are springy enough to hold the tone. Many qualities are determined by resonators and how they were made, and from what.
Maravilhoso!! um abraço do Brasil,América do sul❤❤
How absolutely impressive! It sounds beautiful. I am starting my own first 4 octaves celesta project very soon. Could you share a bit of your process? Like did you use single resonators for each note or shared resonators like a Mustel? And how did you determine their measurements? And what material did you use for the sound bars? So many questions. I would be really grateful if you could answer some of them, it'd really help me out!
@@lysistrata22 Thank you very much! Im happy every time I hear that someone is going to build own instrument! Its a beautiful journey, good luck! Every bar here has its own resonator. Measurements depends of how you want it to sound and how loud its gonna be. There are thousands of possibilities. Bars I made of 11 different alloys, according to my preferences. I came from organbuilding, so I used a lot of knowledge I gained there.

How’d you even get one of these man? Love ragtime on it.

@@marekkudriaszow3943 Any links to where the workshop is? Can you make Harpsichords as well? And may be Spinets and Virginals? Can you post some email details?
I call it a "Super Celesta" because it's a Celesta w/ an Extended Range.
I call it a "Super Celesta" because it has a bigger note range than most Celestas which allows it to be played like a Piano.
That's cool & it can be played like a Piano. I bet if we update its range to 88 Notes (A1 to C9) it can cover any Piano sheet music. My idea was for the lower notes, the resonators are Pipe shaped which are curved so that the sound would be directed towards the walls.
I think as we add more notes, we could retry Tubular Resonators & they actually will be curved & point outwards so that the sound would be directed towards the walls.
It has quite a big note range & when it gets updated to 88 Keys (A1 to C9, an Octave above a Piano) it can play any Piano sheet music. This Celesta can be played like a Piano which is quite rad.
It appears your listing felt is too much and too tight this instrument can give you a sweeter sound and a touch with less blocking.

@@kaneaccordionist4047 Thank you!
Beautiful
Really impressive! The celesta sounds brilliant in every register. And the rubber ball hammer heads bring out the lower notes. I made a small Mustel-style celesta last year, but it doesn’t seem to ‘sing’ like this. May I ask what kind of steel you used for the bars? Kind regards, Daniel
@@noorderveld Thank you! Hammers are not made of rubber ;) I used steel( high tungsten steel) for only one octave in soprano register, and most of bars are not steel at all. I much prefer warmer sound of different kinds of brasses and bronzes and I made bars this way.

Could you even play it much faster on a (historic clavichord without it jamming? I don't know if they have overcome those limitations of polyphony (speed) on modern clavichords. It's not often you hear that sound in this age. Thanks.
@@rimmersbryggeri Yes, I can play it much faster on clavichord. I could play it bit faster here but still dont think there is need to play fast this piece on such instrument. This recording couldnt capture the whole beauty of its sound; when Im playing I just want to enjoy each note. I think playing faster and faster begun from modern piano, which does not have even half coloristic possibilities of clavichord.
@@marekkudriaszow3943 I agree with you but there could be some limitations to speed on a fretted clavichord if the piece was not written with the clavichord in mind. I love the clavichord because of Händls early life story. I think the tempo you chose here was perfect. I also like Glenn Goulds tempo on Rondo Alla Turca but I know that opinion can cause a stir in some kettles.
@@rimmersbryggeri You are right. On fretted clavichord it can be little limitation but this is unfretted- so no limits 🙂
