  • Phone recording of my interpretation of this beautiful piece.
Celesta is still not finished, but I recently added higher octave and working on lover too( when we finish it will be nearly 7 octaves). Making it so large require so many experiments and materials, so still haven't had money to buy some normal camera for recordings.

I know this song very well so I found the lyrics.
    Ooh...
Oh, hush thee, my baby, the night is behind us
And black are the waters that sparkled so green
The moon, o’er the combers, looks downward to find us
At rest in the hollows that rustle between
Where billow meets billow, then soft be thy pillow
Oh weary wee flipperling, curl at thy ease
The storm shall not wake thee, nor shark overtake thee
Asleep in the arms of the slow swinging seas
    Asleep in the arms
    Of the slow swinging seas
    Ooh...

The nice thing though is that the Concert Celesta can be played like a Piano as it's the same Keyboard Layout. Those Hammers are interesting, they're basically Mechanical Mallet Percussion Mallets w/ some felt on the ends of them (very much like Piano felt but softer) so that the Bars wouldn't get scratched.

So the larger notes will have to be put on the sides. But hey you could also sing this song while playing it on the Concert Celesta (an 88 Key Celesta w/ the same range as a Piano but an Octave Higher).

@@marekkudriaszow3943 Maybe in the future you could give it a go if you want to do so but either way it's a nice Celesta.

What a grand build project! Will the lower octave be placed below?

No, plates of lover octave are already installed above. And C will be on the side becouse its too big to fit anywhere else 🙂

@@marekkudriaszow3943 As we go lower than E2 we have to get creative. Putting those low notes on the sides allows for a more compact design.

amazing work, i wanna make a celesta too, do you know where to start, i have the original drawing from the pattent, but dont know how to plan it better, do you make it with blueprints, or made it yourself, i really wanna know how you make it, beautiful sound btw :b

Thank you! I made all parts by myself. I didnt use any drawings from patent and dimensions from other celestas, becouse I wanted to make it from other materials and change many things. I spent few years of experimentation on this instrument and finally it start taking shape. Best of luck with yours!
