In fact virtually that has started with that style of poker has failed completely or at minimum had to learn to tone it way down. Strong fundamentals & steady play is the only path to long term success. Phil Hellmuth is a great example. A perfect example of why the “poker is all skill” statement is an absolute BS. If it was all skill, these guys would consistently win. They don’t, because there is a huge luck element in this F game. I don’t care how well you play, you will inevitably lose over half of the hands you play. It’s all good and dandy, and I accept that one can’t fight math, but just stop telling us that it is all skill. If you want an all skill game, go play chess.

I played in poker league. (Like a bowling league. Set chips.) I was an average player in the middle of the pack. This one guy who always acted like it was beneath him told wonderful stories. Big cash games. Real money. Real tournaments. He was an ass at the table. Always hee hawing like a donkey when he won at the other players. One day just before we started playing. I saw him running. These 3 guys chasing him. He ran into the bathroom. The three went after him. BOOM CRASH THUMP. All you I could hear was " I PAY YOU BACK OWWWWW!!!" I got up to help him and couple of player said. No Bill. He deserves it. Trust me. So I sat back down. After donating a couple of teeth. He stumbled out. He called his dad to pick him up. Rumor has his Dad paid off his debt. Years later after the league folded. I saw him flipping burgers. He recognized me and hung his head. I pretended I did not recognize him. For every winner in poker there are twenty losers.
