Based on the players desribed in this video, for me it's an excellent testimony for what sudden fame can do to people. Many players, including most of them in this video, actually convince themselves that they are as good as their results in bracelets or cash. The problem, of course, is that their delusions of greatness come back later to haunt them partly because others figure out their play when they drop their guard a bit, and partly because luck can come in any length cycle. The long cycles of success can so easily be followed by long cycles where it no longer matters how well you play--you cannot win if your luck is bad enough. Anybody who thinks playing a game of who’s got the best cards wins is an idiot for every Ivy there are a million guys who don’t win coin flips can’t hit regular draws or come up against bigger hands. In the wrong spots. If skill over a long period of time is what counts not pure luck 9/10 pros wouldn’t go broke. Just like some guys have what it takes to be NBA player some people have more luck than others. 5 % of poker players are wining players and the negranus and Ivys of the world are less than 1%. Poker is 95% luck and 5 % skill.

No one, but a moron like you would call Stu Ungar dumb.
@ ummmmm - are you really this obtuse - or is it intentional? Going broke doesn’t make someone dumb - plenty of very smart entrepreneurs go through that multiple times and keep coming back - just like Stu did. That means - Smart and talented. He man had demons he ultimately succumbed to. The only dumb one is the person incapable of recognizing the difference between troubled genius and being dumb. The dumb one is clearly you.
Sorry but entrepreneurs lose their money through calculated risk and investments. Not blowing it on drink and drugs and parties until they've gone dry. That's where his stupidity played a factor.

I think its totally unfair because our government does not need that money - to them its nothing. They spend the money on 40 thousand dollar toilet seats, 800 dollar tylenols while ruining the dreams of people that thought they finally had grasped the impossible. I thought he own a restaurant
Absolutely no surprise that Yang went broke, he got so lucky winning the main event and wasn’t a very good player, the best thing he could have done for himself was quit playing poker. He’s also such an unfortunate looking bloke.
I could’ve won that tournament Jamie Gold one with the cards he got that was pure luck. He got every card every hand and I guess he thought it was gonna continue that way.
Yup agreed it was an ultimate sunrun. Pokers easy when the cards are in your favour and its so easy to get complacent
I see Jerry Yang at the baccarat tables at Club 500 a few times. He's one of the bigger players there.
Bigger in waistline or stakes?
@@Buz-Lunch-Punx Stakes. He's about 5'6
@@Buz-Lunch-Punx Stakes. Jerry is about 5'6
Gus Hanson is innovative? He is literally the worst player every time I have seen him play vs other good players. 😂
never played poker whit real money but i dessemated my opponents most of the time in poker superstars 3 game witch i played on the internet not the download full version you could say that i won meybe 2m or 3m and only lost meybe 500k or 700k only cause right wen the flop hits i start to analyze and try to guess what hand my opponent would have and it worked relly well in that game even got a streght flush and a royal flush at one point in the game
Love that Jamie gold is on this list
unless you are a multi-millionaire with money earned from something OUTSIDE of poker ... you're just a damn fool and BIG FISH just waiting for others to hook you
Yang is the biggest luckbox, not surprised he lost it all
Jerry Yang said he will donate to charity but i guess he didnt
In the East it would be pronounced Mat-YOU-soff, with W being "ff". I presume that's the original pronunciation of the name, but I think they say sow, not soff, in the States.
Knew these guys and I do remember when he bluffed Ron Stanley. Ron came in 3rd and Stuey won
To me, Phil Ivey was money.
Ok Captain Obvious
I like Mike Muh Two Sow a lot.
You shouldn't have to pay tax on money you give away.
It could easily be abused then with dummy charities etc.
Well, sometimes it is OK to play some poker, but we all should know when to stop playing, because there have been people that once they get a great amount of cash they don’t quit and that amount they’ve got they ended up losing it!!🧐☝️
so they were flop chasers, got lucky a few times but in the end , had to see what was that river card lol
Temptation is too great sometimes isn’t it
good thing jamie gold lost it all lol!
Hànsen lost 10 million playing online poker...... well yeah trust a computer to be realistic, might as well just light your cash on fire
Poker stars what a scam that was
Mike mat-two-sow! How are you an announcer?
Pretty sure its one of those AI Voice Readers. Sounds pretty robotic

They are all compulsive gamblers no WIN would ever be big enough to get them to stop.
Jamie Gold is not BROKE
IRS did to Yang is horrible
You can always spend more than you earn.
Ewn-gar? Un-gar. Good god, horrible pronunciation. Forget Mah-too-sha, how do you mess up Unger?
It's AI. How can you not tell?
Stu Ungar is one of the 8 dumbest poker pros?
Did he not blow 3 WSOP tournament winnings and end up with very little to his name in the end?
@ he was one of if not perhaps the smartest card players to ever live. That is not even up for debate. Did he go bust and come back multiple times- yes. Many card players do. It’s called gambling for a reason. Jamie Gold - yes - not all that bright, very arrogant and very lucky at that wsop - too dumb to understand what he fell into and to just take his pile cash and run. No one, but a moron like you would call Stu Ungar dumb.
Don’t discredit his card abilities but if you go rich and broke 3 times that isn’t smart is it 😂 opposite of smart? Dumb
That's where his stupidity played a factor.
and they allways Show us the top pros lol. all loosers and blenders
They are addicts..what do you expect 😂😂
Wauuu stuiped click baits. Jaime gold is over 12 million worth, and all of them are still rich
Never heard Stu’s last name pronounced that way, including by himself. AI doesn’t work for RUclips
Stooo OooonGar!! BYE!! Just a tip for you and your 957 subscribers, be careful what you post on the internet. I'm not quite sure all of these people are as broke as you say they are. I have seen numerous of your subjects play in the Series and watched many of them in the halls of casinos and waiting for valets to fetch their quite luxurious vehicles!
Mike ma too sow
Is AI narrating this?
Yes for cost and efficiency reasons. The rest is done by me
Ted was reckless at the table . He made crazy bets and sometimes got lucky .
@ 🙈🙈🙈🙈🤪😜😜
@ fixed . Thank you .
This is the case with all gamblers, what makes a good gambler makes you bad with money. This includes all poker celebs, they tout their total winnings but most of them have huge debts
This list could also include Eli Elezra, Tom Dwan or Erick Lindgren
Well but the odds are against gamblers anyway even when they make logical decisions....

The governments greed torwards prize money has always been sickening.
70 percent for "unearned income" when it should be illegal to tax any income according to the US constitution.
Ofc these poker players made bad moves and had gambling issues but still.
It's freaking bullcrap for real
@@TomCat-zo5ig im right there with you my friend.
There was a poker pro thats pretty famous, i forget exactly who, that lobbied the courts to be able to claim being a pro poker player on their taxes possible and it was granted
Might have been Negraunu tbh.
That means its like 30-35% but thats still a lot and most of these guys cant do that bc there are requirements for it and when they win their money theyre still working at a normal job or unemployed and i think theres an hour/tourny entry stipulation to be able to claim in.
I think its totally unfair because our government does not need that money - to them its nothing.
They spend the money on 40 thousand dollar toilet seats, 800 dollar tylenols while ruining the dreams of people that thought they finally had grasped the impossible.
Thats exactly what rhe government should NOT be doing to its citizens.
@incarnateflame2312 brother, it doesnt take much to see how disgusting "stealing" money from ppl gambling their money is.
Yang came back the following year in designer track suits, and wearing a gold chain that said "MOM" in 124 font. He started talking in third person, commentating on his own play. He thought he could do it again, but soon realized he got extremely lucky. He spent all his money on trinkets to show off, and gave a lot of it away. If idiot was a person, it would be Yang
Do you not think some of the others are more idiotic in the way they lost their money?
18:00: Largest price ever? So what about the $18 million Antonio Esfandiari won in the 2012 The Big One for One Drop?
