Dude drop a masterclass. I’ll get it so I can learn from you
Haha thanks! What area would you like me to cover?
Like Materials but with minimalist aesthetic. For example - a wooden toy horse or a Logo but on a cloth texture. Stuff like that that would look great to show companies as a portfolio piece
@ Anything you like my man. Tbh if you can make tutorials on minimal 3D animations - that would be awesome
Dude I had a 16 minute render that came down to 3 minutes each. Looks literally exactly the same. Thankyou so much
PERFECT! Thanks for sharing your results. That's what we expect from Render Optimization... faster times, minimal changes in quality. Thanks for watching. Now try adjusting the Global Trace Depths. Sometimes you can get away with reducing the rays. Render Settings > Global tab > Trace Depths
It's NOT new!! It has always been feature! If you ADD you scene to Render QUEUE you can stop and if you continue it just renders the frames needed ! so it's not new features.. Maybe in this way but Ive been doing this for years !!!
It's new to Picture Viewer. I'm not discussing the Render Queue.
Thanks for these awesome TUTs in 2024 - keep 'em coming in 25!
Thanks for your kind words. Let's make 2025 rock!
Amazing stuff 🤩
Thank you!
What a fun tutorial! Looking forward to jumping into this one tomorrow morning. I always learn stuff outside of even the main lesson. This looks fantastic!
yess
LEGEND!
I tried doing a group of lights, but the lights are varying levels for total brightness. I want the lights to all go from 0 to whatever I have set for different values for light as "full light" Is there a way to do that? I was unable to find that trick
That was actually the first thing I did when trying out Field Drivers. Download this project file! drive.google.com/file/d/1avcb8YLPwpbRqU2qDFpR5YfK2QofGenE/view?usp=sharing Select light > Right click Intensity > Set Min/Max levels > Add a Field in tab Duplicate the lights and move them to the right, then move field around.
@@PolygonDivision hmm I don't think this is what I was looking for. I am sayine that I have 3 area lights in my scene. One is exposure 100, one is exposure 20, etc. I want to just use a slider or a master light with a field driver that turns light A from 1-100 and light B from 0-20 at the same time
another Awesome tutorial!! Again would be awesome if you made a set of these materials on gumroad!!!
awesome!!!
awesome channel!!! Looking forward to more!!! Any chance you will be offering these shaders already built out on gumroad?
Actually yes! I've been having issues with Gumroad internationally but I've got stuff in the works. polygondivision.gumroad.com/ Here's what Shader Packs I've got in the works; Product plastics, Clear Glass/Plastics, Light Designer, GOBO Designer, and much more! I'll make a video when they're released.
Amazing tutorials! Thank you!
I noticed that there is a "reference object" option in the transform space. How would I assign this to something like a c4d field or a sphere?
I think what you are looking for is the 'Distance' node, maybe? The reference object doesn't do what you're wanting. The problem you will run into is a sphere or field will be calculated at the anchor point which wont consider the offset of polygons to said center point. There are a number of ways to accomplish this... one that comes to mind is using Xpresso and converting distance data into a User Data node.
Give me more info on what you're trying to do and I'll make a quick video! Be specific please.
Dude - this is really neat - especially to check on work. I frequently miscalculate my stop and start point and find I’m missing a frame somewhere in the middle of a sequence. This is great for idiots like me!
Haha! I hear yah.
Great news, thanks for the update.
My pleasure! Wonderful update! I'm still finding stuff!
Wasnt the multi custom frame range render definition possible before?🤔 Anyways an auto fill of missing frames is a great update 😁
Nope, it's new! Happy with this gem. I like that "Autofill"
Lovely
Scene nodes too someday!
Ok! Any projects or things in mind?
@ I can’t speak for anyone else but I know I have been a little intimidated by scene nodes. Even a basic primer on how to get started would be great. There is an older but really good tutorial using blenders geometry nodes where gumdrops coated in sugar crystals are made using just geometry nodes. Some useful techniques in that one were scattering geometry on objects etc. things we would normally do using cloners in C4D. Personally something similar would be really useful at breaking into Scene nodes for me :) no pressure though!

Hot damn! More xpresso please and thank you!

I’m going to make a field of dust motes using this technique next time I need to have them. Great stuff!
brilliant! really good tips
Thanks for watching!
I like your enthusiasm! bringing life to cinema 4d, thanks man!
Thank you for your kind words and encouragement!
Thank you! really good tip
It makes Cryptomattes work on older graphics cards for Product Visualization.
I hope we do see more modelling updates. They confirmed the next big imminent update is fluids, we're getting that next, and soon.
Fingers crossed with Fluids!!! I really want a fluid solver modifier with particles and not have to fake things with the Flock mod.
@@PolygonDivision Yeah it would be cool. I neeearly had switched to Blender and will still check that app out a little as it's kind of fun and can do so much, but everything in C4D is leagues more intuitive. and I've decided to give C4D another year to dive deeper into it. Dave teased the fluids here, go to the 8 minute mark, we should be getting it soon. ruclips.net/video/PwBY0LXgfIw/видео.htmlsi=5b6zp_NplsxLfYh_
Why use xpresso now that you have node editor? Trying to understand why the two co-exist...
In a perfect world I would perform the text readout with field drivers but it's not supported yet so I used Xpresso. Does that answer your question?
I just wanna a decent snap system like 3dsMax or Sketchup, is that so difficult MAXON? 😑😑😑😑
Damn - how did I miss this one! This is incredible. Thanks for breaking this down! Such a useful technique!
This tool is PERFECT for product viz of power sliders and buttons! Super powerful!
Great overview! Nice that Maxon is giving some love to one of C4D's weaker tools. I wish they would include some type of live fillet option on areas that intersect.
We have the Bevel Deformer which does that. You can even make masked selections to restrict the bevel to certain areas :-) Are you talking about more of a CAD style operation?
@@PolygonDivision you can use a "virtual" selection named "I" (without quotes) in the selection field for the edge mode in the deformer.
Thanks for the video. Looks good. But can you show what the resulting mesh quality is like on a couple of different examples? Because that's the big question.
Booleans will never be a replacement for good Subdivision modeling. Period. They're just quick and dirty.
@@PolygonDivision however you can throw in a remesher or apply the boolean then use standard modeling tools to fix the polygon flow. It's also smart to think about prepping your model for booleans. think of where the cuts are going to happen and add supporting geo to help the boolean work better and after you apply it.
Exactly - everyone’s first thought with the Boolean is always "what about the topology" and you didn’t even mention it.
I find that this new boolean has improved, but try to make a boolean subtraction between a sphere and a tube, and then add a thicken to give thickness to the result, you will see that it does not solve well. while with the old boolean it comes out well 😅😅😅
I had no issues when I set the same segments on the sphere 32 (Default) and Tube 32 Rotation segments. My problem arises when I have stacked materials with the new Bool tool, I don't think they've added support. Booleans will never be a replacement for good Subdivision modeling.
Ah ok. If add a thicken after the bool the result is a mess. @@PolygonDivision
@@antoniopepe run optimize and also check normals.
Works for me. If you can reproduce it, consider reaching out to Maxon support to file a report.
This is brilliant. Even if you have a machine that can handle CM's under regular circumstances without getting bogged down there is still a huge time savings to be had by doing it this way I think. Genius as always my man!
Thanks for the kind words!

You saved me a lot of time on my recent project with this. Thank you.
YES! Definite time saver for product renders with client work.
Great tip! Thanks a lot.
Thats works, until you added in your scene motion blur and agressive bokeh. In that case, the cryptomate needs more sample, to ged rid of noises
There is no motion blur or bokeh. Wrong video buddy.
@ that's exactly it. if the scene has strong defocus and motion blur, then the technique in the video will not work.
@@PolygonDivision That's why they said it works UNTIL you add these things. I suspect it also breaks with transparent objects since you're turning down all the bounces. Neat trick for still images.
@@Bivan4erI’ll make a video on this.
