This is a really good question. I am reminded a couple of times every day regarding moving abroad. Gaming industry has reached a global status. You can develop and publish games from any part of the world. Moving abroad (1st tier countries) will allow for much better networking, visibility, exposure and marketing. Sure, there are obstacles and nuances to it like not being able to access developer kits for consoles but those are farfetched concepts to even indies abroad. But it is actually much harder to stay abroad (not all countries but only counting the top tier ones) as an indie game developer capable of developing their own games as compared to here in Pakistan. What makes it hard? The high living cost. A decent living is very tough without a job and the crunch culture in the gaming industry is horrible. Moving to any of the 2nd tier countries in Europe or even, countries like Malaysia, is actually much better. Not as high living cost and you can stay as indie without much pressure involved. But you won't get benefits like better networking, marketing, etc. I am generally not interested in moving up the ladders in the job careers. Ultimately, having your own intellectual property (game product) is the real deal whether in Pakistan or abroad. Massive layoffs are happening in the entire industry and people are shifting to be indie. The actual issues in Pakistan are in regard to the local government, their policies and skilled human resource. There is also the massive cultural gap and having no gaming culture which leads to us not being creative with gamedev. Developing a niche like-minded group like SAATH GameDev would fix the gaming culture problem at a much smaller scale and promote us towards actually developing a solid indie game.

Totally agreed! When you don't have enough experience, it's better to simply focus on getting things done (not properly). However, in every stage of game development, it is crucial to set a balance between the two because while we all love the quality and the care given to a game product, life has its ways, there are deadlines & release dates, and of course, time is of essence. 😁

Hello, Update function moves the background image position on screen (outClip) downwards until it reaches the bottom of the screen after which it resets it back to top. This creates the illusion of infinite scrolling background. However, once this happens, the empty space needs to be covered as well which is why we created DrawSegment function to redraw it on the empty space left by the moving background. Basically, we are moving the background outClip up temporarily to call DrawSegment again. Let me know if you understand it. Good luck! 😁✨
