  • We understand that things must be tweaked and everything has to feel right in a game. But often, indies forget that their game has to be released within a time frame. SAATH wants you to learn the balance between doing things ‘properly’ OR just being rough and focusing on cutting things off the list. Productivity is not the same as creativity. In fact, one has to be curbed for a while to focus on the other. 🍀

I believe most game developers and major studios start developing games with a "Get Things Done Properly" approach, which can lead to issues like bugs, Compatibility Optimization at launch, resulting in negative reviews, we have example of this "The Day Before" project which is closed a few days before. Studios like Rockstar Capcom and Naughty Dog focus on doing things properly, earning them a positive reputation among the gaming community because they know that their projects will goanna consume time. On the other hand, Ubisoft tends to experiment with games and develop games with "Get Things Done " Approach especially in franchises like Assassin's Creed.
I think everyone should adopt a mindset of doing things properly, but it's essential to carefully consider and plan before starting a project. Don't assume that you can complete a large project quickly. Never underestimate the challenges of reality.

Totally agreed! When you don't have enough experience, it's better to simply focus on getting things done (not properly). However, in every stage of game development, it is crucial to set a balance between the two because while we all love the quality and the care given to a game product, life has its ways, there are deadlines & release dates, and of course, time is of essence. 😁
