When it comes to classical music a lot of listeners/players forget that most of the classics were "written to order" for various reasons: church or ceremonial uses (or private commission). The romantic notion of genius composers floating around waiting for inspiration is akin to modern day content creators serenely 🦆 filling their day with coffee and cake while putting together YT content. The reality is both have deadlines and work targets to meet. I'm neither a composer nor content creator but admire and appreciate the time videos take to script, film and edit. * I used the duck emoji to show serenity as I couldn't get a swan emoji LOL 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I had difficulty with the harmonic analysis of this piece. However, when you explained the concept of sequences for A minor and D minor scales, along with the three different kinds of A minor scales, all my confusion was resolved. I could then understand why and how different chords are used in this piece. Thank you so much for doing this analysis and sharing it with us. I really dislike playing a piece without understanding the analysis and just memorizing it. I prefer to understand and then play something. This method has been empowering for me, not only as a piano player but also in becoming a composer and improviser in the future.

I love yoru teaching. This is the way it ought to be: discovery, explanatoin, love, and joy. 1:01 "Many people who graduated with a college degree in music are not ... music training..." You're right about that. Most music programs is where the love of music goes to die. Blaire School of Music killed my children's love of music (most, not all, teachers were brutal and abusive -- no uncommon). They beat it out of them. Most every music school grad I've known (not every) were ruined by music schools.

I no longer have the brown one; it came with the piano, but it broke. The black one is a Jansen artist bench. It’s not as tall at its highest height as the Hidrau. It’s also much more physical effort to raise and lower (lots of rolling).

I was wondering about measure 58, beat 2, treble clef...in some editions it has a G# which is what I grew up playing, but then in the Keith Snell edition it doesn't have the G#. I've seen it both ways in various editions. I was wondering if you had clarity on this. Many thanks, Norma.

I love this simple sonatina and classical sonatinas in general, especially when they’re melodic and whimsical. You’ve already made a video for Clementi (C major, no. 1). Are you familiar with Mozart’s Viennese Sonatina? I like that one as an introduction to classical music and form. It starts with dramatic octaves, followed then by my favorite measure, which, if memory serves, is a lovely, short chromatic passage. Just an idea suggestion for a possible future video. 🎉❤
