The video, Challenging the Northwest Territories, is my all-time favorite. I saw Gordon Eastman, live, in Spokane Washington and he narrated the entire movie. It made me want to do it when I grew up. And I did!! Thanks, Gordon.

Mike, I’ve heard parts of the story when Gordon crashed in the arctic, but never heard what happened with the other plane that was with them. They must have made it to land? Hopefully you can tell that one someday. I appreciate these old stories, reminds me of how soft we’ve become.

I saw Gordon in Spokane narrate this movie. I was 14 years old. It inspired me to dream about hunting in the North and eventually I was able to take two sheep in the Mackenzie mountains. It was a moving emotional experience. I cried when I shot my first sheep and I was 52 years old.

When they went up there we saw about 10 sheep. When they leave, only 1.

Back in the 80’s we would rent VHS tapes of Gordon Eastman’s hunt the high country and others, I always enjoyed watching his videos and considered them the best and I can say the same for Mike Eastman’s videos, Thanks for the great information and entertainment through the years , Wes from Idaho 👍🇺🇸

In 1986 or so, I was 18ish. My dad borrowed 2 of Gordon’s VHS tape’s. One on fishing and the other on hunting. I about wore those tapes out. Lot of your videos are the same footage, I love it! Thanks for sharing.

My parents had this hunt on VHS and I watched it until the tape wore out. I’ve been looking for this video for years! Anybody know where I can find this video. I would pay a pretty penny to own it again.

Sad to say I cant imagine Sports Illustrated considering a hunting story in todays world. It is so great that you take the time to document and take us back into the great days of before. One can detect a humbleness of family pride and certainly well deserved. This documents the foundation of the Eastman passion.

Hello Mike. This brings back some great memories of my youth. I was age 10-12 in 1964 thru 1966, and I'd often go to the local movie theater to enjoy hunting adventure films. My enthusiasm for hunting grew strong at that time. I'm certain that some of those films were made by your dad, so Thanks for the memories.

Absolutely love these videos.. having spent 13 years guiding hunters myself in the Yukon and NWT I can really appreciate this footage from the golden era of hunting in the Canadian North! Please keep these tremendous videos coming.

I watch a Gordon Eastman film at least once a month. I saw him narrate this film in the school auditorium when I was a kid. A bit cheesy by today’s standards, but it had a huge impression on me. Whenever I’m far from a road hunting, I think of his films, ‘Challenging the Northwest Territories’, High, Wild and Free. They are my favorites.

You are one of the few I can give a thumbs up before watching! Having grown up in the West Kootenay area of B.C., hunts like you show are what I dreamed of since I was a kid! I have always enjoyed your dads videos, they were always the best! Thank you to the Eastman family for your honourable portrayal of wilderness hunting.

My wife, 3 young kids and I rafted the Snake below Jackson Hole. My son, about 8, almost got ejected in a rapid. Thank God I was able to catch him!
