You've lived an incredible life in the golden ages of elk and mule deer hunting. I'd love to be a fly on the wall tent listening to you tell your stories. Thank you sir.
Nothing like the old stories and history of hunting. It's becoming lost in this fast pace lifestyle today Thank you Mike God's Blessings and Merry Christmas to and your family
I don't why we like to know, but I just do... What carteridge you hit it with? Killed my 1st elk, a 400lb cow, at 315 yrd w a 7mm mag. Flat straight dropped. Snowed 2 ft in s. Colorado 4 days before. Rather large sled made for easy pulling in one trip. Fun, very fun but hard work.
@@BlazedTrailsForgotten Mike I’m a disabled American in a power wheelchair. I used to be a big hunter. Before I was in a car wreck I went elk hunting every year in Colorado. So I miss not being able to do those things. I love watching hunting and fishing channels and listening to your stories because it brings back memories of my own.
Story telling is a dying art and I am sure glad you shared yours. Thank you
I plan to do many of the including some of my Dad's stories.

Just think how blessed you all were just to have a camera back in the 60’s, that was unheard of.
Charley, my Dad was filming hunts all over Alaska, B.C, and the West. He went to Alaska to guided and film in 1957. So we were always filming hunts.
Keep them coming mike love to hear stories from back when hunting was hunting thank you
I will be putting on many more stories.
Much appreciated. We're the same age and the stories there are.

Great story! Obviously you will always remember your first bull! Probably made you want the big bull even more the next year!
Yes! I will tell the story about the next year and a 350 bull.
Amazing story thanks
I remember when elk tags included a bear tag. An old surveyor I worked with in the 80's knew your Dad.
I absolutely love this mike
Nick Thanks tell your friends OK?
Mike, I hunted for 16 grueling years in Washington State, mostly around Mount Saint Helens, before I got my first Elk and it too was a spike bull.
Wow! Try hunting in the Rockies for Elk.
Love these stories mike this one made me remember my first elk which was a 5 point that I shot here in Montana at 12 years old
Good job!
Not many kids get to experience that in this day & age.
Nope! But my grandkids came up to my place in the Beartooth Wilderness and was exposed to all the wildlife and outdoors.
