I remember when Joni Mitchell came out with her "Don Juan's Reckless Daughter" album and found it interesting and a little weird. I read the books up to about the fifth or sixth and realized the author had either changed or C was having a bad hair time. It's blatantly obvious.

I read "The Teachings of Don Juan" in the 70's and I found the book to be fascinating. I was saddened to recently learn the Castaneda was a complete fraud, "Don Juan" did not exist, and Castaneda went on to form a bizarre cult for which he was the "guru."

watch the anime "Hunter x Hunter" along with the carlos castaneda books will give a well rounded view of how these things work. you'll have to revisit the books every couple of years to slowly mine the many gems in this book.

He claimed he was not an entertainer, but I found this highly entertaining and it may be one of thee (sardonically) funniest books I've ever read/heard. Especially with this brilliant narrator.
