Learning Lumatone: Ep. 35 - "Wicki-Hayden Basics"
Просмотров 4,6 тыс.8 месяцев назад
Lumatone is all about seeing music differently and inspiring performances you wouldn’t have played on a traditional piano layout. We do this by visualizing notes and intervals in new and inspiring ways. We've already explored the standard Lumatone layout (also known as bosanquet-wilson), as well as the harmonic table. Dave is now moving onto a perhaps lesser known layout that is becoming more a...
Lumatone Chord Shapes | 22-EDO
Просмотров 2,9 тыс.8 месяцев назад
One of the most powerful features of Lumatone is that you only have to learn a chord shape once, allowing you to use the same shape, no matter what key or tuning you're playing in. For example, a minor chord is the same shape for C minor as it is for F# minor. This makes it far easier to learn Lumatone from scratch when compared with a piano or other instruments, and helps inspiration strike in...

Whatever your sounds are, Lumatone helps you put your entire musical palette in fr...

i love this thing.. i need a full playlist of songs from it that goes 10Hours
So, it’s not an “instrument” … It’s only a MIDI controller …
i think it’s about ordering by the harmonic series, further up the series is a finer division, kinda lofi hip hop, really intimidating instrument, kinda excited for the future, lol star wars cantina
It’s like realizing we can do better than QWERTY.
i want that keyboard... now...
Please finish Pickle Weasel. Well... that is a thing I never thought I would type.
It's such a jam tho
I saw a video talking about this instrument / music and that not many people like it but to be honest it just sounds like old video game music to me so not bad at all so not sure what the fuss is about 😅
This song is a FREAKIN VIBE! I love the chord progression at 2:39
It's here !!!
This could fit perfectly in Celeste
What a beautiful melody
Awesome keyboard but insanely overpriced.
🎅🏾🎄
song name?
Why include the creepy assertion that "nature" intended for the harmonic series to be "in tune". Logically it's a category error fallacy, you're anthropomorphising a concept and attributing it with human traits. Really jarring & inappropriate inclusion to a video that could be free of perverse ideology.
Kaelin is awesome 🔥🔥🔥
This looks like what jazz keyboardists from the 25th century would use in the clubs on Rigel 7.
[looks at price tag] Not even in my dreams 😢
Thank you for sharing your gift to the world 🌍 from SA
BRO YOU ARE SO TALENTED MAN!! I NEED YOU TO DROP ALL OF WHAT WAS RECORDED HERE!! Including Pickle-weasel’ 🔥 Pickle-weasel goes insane!!
everything is patterns, when you get down to it haha awesome video
MKRS CLUB PROUD OF UU
What a beautiful way to make music, so intuitive. Would love one in the future, wish list for sure
Cool
wow!
I'll wait u til price goes down lol😂
13:00 Shoutout to the videogame “Hexic HD” for the Xbox 360 (That’s what they’re looking at on the computer monitor). I played that game a lot back in 2008.
OK but bro it's 3,850 USD!!! Ever heard of "assembly line efficiencies"?? 🤣
yeah I've said it before and I'll say it again, the thing is just way too expensive. I've been looking for an affordable isomorphic keyboard for decades :(
I'm planning to design an open source version. Target <500, but it'll likely require several hours of manual assembly
@@picard-my8io Lumatone took us many years years of R&D and millions of investment to build. It has true moving key mechanisms just like a normal keyboard, velocity sensitivity, and polyphonic aftertouch. LEDs in every key. Looking forward to seeing what you're able to create, because in our opinion, the more instruments created that advance the adoption of the hexagonal format, the better! It's an inspiring way to play music.
@@lumatone i'm quite happy with my Lumatone, but i would also welcome a cheaper version. perhaps a version with no LED, with just the 12 tones Bosanquet-Wilson layout/preset, perhaps no polyphonic aftertouch. maybe a cheaper construction/quality but using the same molds. i don't know how much that would reduce the price and how much demand there would be for it, but anyway.
@lumatone Thanks for the words of encouragement. My aim with the proof-of-concept is to demonstrate a fully 3D printed key mechanism and continuous controller key input using cheap hall effect sensors. There will be no LEDs at first, and all keys will be the same height.
Would buy this thing in a heartbeat if I could afford it 😭
isomorphic keyboards are so powerful as an educational tool. I hope they are working on a device for that market.
This video does more to sell me on this product than any of the others.
oh yeah, and i already wanted it lol
balatro ost ahh song
this is so cool, thanks for the info man
It really is a beautiful sound
With the exception of everything
If only the price was accessible.
whos the performer
Beat drop hits hard 🔥
😢 only advertising the device and not the music? I wouldn't mind if you had a BandCamp account.
Spooky dave ❤
Lovely space keyboard ❤
Space keyboard ❤
It took me so long as a kid to get my finger placements on piano right. I can't imagine how hard it would be to figure this out.
This is actually easier than a piano, lumatone layouts are isomorphic (which means any type of chord, for example a major chord, had always the same shape regardless of the root). What guides you are the colored patterns based on the layout (Bosanquet-Wilson, Wicki-Haden, the harmonic table etc.)
Das a funni lookin piano my guy
it sounds nice, calm even, but there is an undertone of worry and sadness, more like the calm before a storm that can be either devastating or harmless.
I have only one brain and 10 fingers. Is that enough to play this keyboard ???
How or where to purchase this heavenly instrument…please?!?!
I think there's a link in the channel description
@@TentacleTerrorMusic saw it there, Ty for the info!
@@jay-rev Np :)
Does the keyboard have a transpose feature so you can keep the same pattern and play in a different key?
It's weird. There are some parts that I just think... wtf, that's horrible why would you even make an instrument like this? but then the next parts happen, and I go... huh, it's out of the ordinary. yet its still calming? it's like between a major and a minor, it's feels off but at the same time it feels so right
I am saving up for one now!
This is so horrifyingly melancholic and sad to me, it almost made me want to cry on the first playthrough. Hauntingly beautiful.
