@@mixinkperranporth nice one mate 😃 that’s very kind of you. Hi pal I was wondering do you work on corgi tyre breakers I’m having trouble with the pedal that rotates the table
Sorry mate I don’t, I just refurbished this one for personal use. But I had a few issues with my pedal too that rotates the table and it’s usually the mechanism full of crap and weak spring, I’ve sort of fixed mine but still needs a bit of TLC 😂
Well fitted and set up. I would suggest extending your exaust pipe by a foot or two so the fumes wont be drawn in by the combustion intake pipe. I would imagine you should get better economy than a litre per hour.
Thanks mate 🙏 yea I probably will extend exhaust just a little but it’s been ok for past couple of years. It does really well on fuel, I’m mostly just running on 1.5hz and I don’t even use a litre a day in winter, but I don’t keep it on all day, just a few hours at night. I’ve also fitted a 12v fuel cutoff solenoid as was seeping into the heater a little when not in use but that’s sorted it out nicely 👍 cheers
I’ve already got a map by you mate and very happy with it. But just wondering what’s the cost to get switchable maps? Is it a new ecu etc. be for a td5 10p defender
Hi mate, glad you’re still happy with it 👍 thanks. It’s normally £350 to make your ECU a dual mapped switchable, but if you’ve had yours chipped by me then you’ll already have the socket in so get in touch and we’ll sort something out pal 👍 cheers Shane

Hello, great Video! Best of all I've ever seen. In my '98 300TDI the actuator is adjusted. Fuel screw also and the car runs with 1.5bar turbo pressure for about 25 years without any problem and VERY well. But since I have changed the worn garret turbo cartridge against an "enhanced turbo" cartridge I have a massive problem with a turbo lag. The new turbo runs only 0.5bar until 2400rmp are reached and not as normally at 1800rpm. But at reaching 2400 rpm the turbo gives instantly a MASSIVE kick. Sadly, in the mountains, the landy is nearly undriveble because of this extrem late turbo lag. I`ve got 3 different springs for the boost pin/diaphragma (in force, not in lenght). Boostpin and Boostring is installed correctly since some years and it runs as hell until I changed the turbo cartridge... Should I try the smoothest spring version and adjust the starwheel and the locknut on top of the pump? I also have'nt shaved the plastic ring. Have you any hint how much I should try? Temperatures and pressure is permanently observed. EGR is removed since decades. Cheers from Germany.
Thanks mate 🙏 and thanks for watching 👍. You shouldn’t really get that much lag with just a core change as they only have a slightly larger compressor wheel, it will come on boost a little later but shouldn’t really be noticeable. Sounds like you may have an issue with either a sticking actuator or wastegate problem. Do you get black smoke before it kicks into high boost ? If you do then it’s definitely boost related, if you don’t then check the pump diaphragm for holes and look for leeks in the actuator and plumbing, you can take the vac pipe off the turbo that feeds both the actuator and pump and blow in it to see if it leeks anywhere. Try moving the actuator both physically and then applying pressure by foot pump or partially filled compressor (max 25 psi). Make sure your boost pin can move freely and yes you can shave the plastic collar 1/2 size or even remove to try. As for the diaphragm spring rates softer will give more max fuel at lower boost pressure and harder springs need a lot more boost and possibly harder actuator spring rate too so these are best for tweaking once you’ve got to the bottom of your problem first. Hope you get it sorted mate, I’ve seen the same issue when people have changed the actuator. Thanks Shane 👍
Why did you not use standard 400kwh+ Pannals? You could have fit more kwh on that roof. And they would have been more stable and lasted a decade longer. For £60 a panel i don't understand why you didn't.
Hi, this was a few years ago now and standard 400watt panels was nearly £300 each unlike now at £60, I have recently added to this setup with some standard panels and another inverter and battery, I’ve done a RUclips video on the upgrade. Thanks 👍
@@CarJunkeez that's great, I have the same inverter and just looking for a 5-10kwh battery to pair with it. Do you have any commercial suggestions?
@@grantmidd luckily now it’s a lot easier to get batteries in the U.K. rather than china. You can purchase from fogstar.co.uk and they have some good Seplos kits in stock mate and can highly recommend 👍 cheers
I’ve just done the fourby boost pin on my 300tdi and now I’m getting black soot and smoke followed by a puff of white when I rev it. I was wondering if the fuel pump has been turned up previously and now I need to turn it down?
Hi, yes it’s possible your pump has previously been tweaked, has the security tab been removed from the smoke fuel screw and had the cap been removed from the diaphragm lid. If the shield has been removed from the smoke screw you could try to back it off a 1/4 off a turn anticlockwise and see if this reduces your black smoke. The white smoke is usually unburnt fuel. Thanks 👍
@@CarJunkeez Hi. Thanks for getting back to me. Yeah the fuel screw safety cap has been removed. I adjusted the fuel screw and it’s much better now. Just a bit of black followed by white now when I rev it. Seems fine going along. I took it for a test drive and it easily gets to 80 now and can tell it would do a bit more but I’ve done an egr delete and the temp gauge gets to 720 if I try any more. Should I turn the fuel screw down more or take the diagram cap off and turn it down in there? Don’t want to inadvertently damage the engine if I’m not keeping an eye on the temp. Many thanks.
@@Tom-hl7wc you could try back fuel screw a little more if your worried about high EGT’s. If you’ve got the flat sided Fourby boost pin then unfortunately you can’t tweak by rotating the pin like on the standard pin, also if it is a plat sided pin make sure the pins flat side is oriented correctly with flat side parallel against the control pin deep in the hole 👍 cheers
@@CarJunkeez ok thanks for the info. Appreciate it.
Injector number two on mine is gone, can i do this, rebuild it amd it would work?... Worst part about it is the last bilt towards the bulk head rounded off. Tried one of those sockets that grip the rounded one but it won't come out. Had to put it all back together and use the csr. Its really bugging me now as im stuck
It depends what’s gone on the injector, most common is the solenoid sticks open and that can’t be fixed so you’d have to replace the solenoid from another injector. Other problems can be burnt or blocked nozzles and these can be replaced with new ones and you can check all the components inside the injector too while you’re replacing the nozzle as they can seize from contamination. You’re best watching all 3 of the videos I’ve done on TD5 injectors to understand the setup. Also you should really use the special tool to undo the injector housing. As for the rounded off bolt I presume you mean one off the rocker shaft bolts, you can just use a large nut and welt to the top of the bolt through the inner part of the nut, it will undo then with the heat of welding and using the nut to undo. 🔧👍 cheers
What did you do for the rear end suspension is it worth finding the st205 dif and subframe or did you use something else
It’s the original setup, so standard st205 diff and subframe and TRD springs and adjustable shocks and pollybushed has whiteline adjustable anti roll bar and solid diff mount 👍 cheers
Thank you for this, my Defender has just done 270k Kms, so am thinking it’s time to look at the injectors.
No problem mate, thanks for watching 😃 to be honest if your injectors are still working ok then I’d just leave them as I know some have over 400k miles and still ok. It’s just handy to know how to fit nozzles to prepare some just incase 😃👍👍 cheers

@@TriumphT100Tha ha 😂 to be honest it’s easily done mate, I’ve been as close as picking up the wrong pump nozzle so been lucky myself 👍 cheers
This is very interesting stuff..... I intrigued to how your going to apply this knowledge 🤔👍🏼
Thanks mate 😁 basically I need to get more fuel delivered in a controlled manner so rather than just increasing injector open time (duration) I want to increase nozzle jet size and number of holes but I also need to up the size of the plunger piston on the injector and that’s the difficult bit for TD5 injectors 😂 cheers 😁👍👍
I've been looking forward to the next video in this series.... Well worth the wait 👍🏼 A very meticulous assembly 👌🏼
Thanks mate 😁 it’s getting there slowly, should have another video soon, thanks for your support mate 😁👍👍
Hi. Are you allowed on this road with vehicle as looks like can’t drive on it
I don’t think you can now mate, I’ve been up there recently and most of the usual routes we do have sighns up with no vehicles and big fines, it’s a shame as there isn’t many lanes around here anymore and I know most of the off road people in the community and we all take care on the green lanes and always shut gates etc. and even help stranded vehicles and animals especially in bad weather, I even go out in the snow just to tow or winch stuck vehicles free of charge as I enjoy it. 👍 cheers
@@CarJunkeez is a shame, even if the signs are up but road still showing on maps does it mean we legally can’t drive in them?
It’s tricky and depends on the signage, if it’s a proper road sign or one from a council then even if it shows up on OS maps or apps then you can still get fined and even vehicle crushed for repeat offence. But you also get signs that random people put up and as-long as it’s not restricted to off road vehicles you should be able to go on them, but I’ve seen some signs that look official but aren’t so can be difficult what to trust is a legal lane these days 😂 haters are always gonna hate unfortunately mate 🚗💨

ive only gone and forgot to put that seal in ffs i thought it was a seal to go in the gearbox ,i didnt put a gasket between the adap and the box so it wouldnt keep oil in as there is a seal on the box and a seal on the transfer box are you suppossed to run the adpt shaft in oil i thought they went in dry ?
Some people just put a bit of grease on the spline so no need for the seal, yes people also fit dry but I wouldn’t really recommend it mate 😂 you could just loosen the bolts from gearbox to adaptor enough to slip a small pipe in and pump loads of LM grease in there as it would eventually work it’s way in the spline when it warms up and not much would leak out being grease. No one really runs them in oil anyway, it’s just me being paranoid 😜 cheers 👍

Is there a definite difference in 10p vs 15p cams? How would one go about telling the difference? I am in the process of rebuilding my td5 that has also been badly butchered with mixed injectors. Was wondering what cam I have as I found a good second hand unit, but not sure what it is now...Great video btw
Thanks mate 😁. If you look at the front of the camshaft where the sprocket mounts there is a date and part number etched around the outside edge, you can just about see it even when it’s in the head but its tricky, another way of telling the difference is that a 15p tends to have a groove all the way around the second round section before the first valve lobe. The only difference between the 10p and 15p camshaft’s is the 15p has 1mm more lift on the injectors only, everything else is the same. You’re better off using a 15p but make sure you adjust the injector lash. 👍 cheers
Original motor? Also do you have a 5 speed or a 6? I’ve been looking for a 6 but I can only find a xrs 6 speed only prob is it’s fwd not awd
Hi mate, it’s mostly original motor but the block is from a RWD 3SGE NA so had to grind the casting down where the RWD engine mount holes are to make room to fit around the transfer case on the GT4 gearbox, also with being a NA block it doesn’t have the under piston oil squirted or turbo oil feed. The gearbox is also standard 5 speed GT4 apart from a few ratio differences. Yes with yours being FWD you have a lot more options with gearbox and engine setups. I’m actually building a boosted 3.1 litre 3VZ-FE in a st205 GT4 too but haven’t done any work on it for a while, the engine and gearbox are in though 👍 cheers
