How wonderful to see Aeon Flux getting a little of the recognition it deserves! I've never sees its weird creativity and philosophical depth matched by any Western animation since. Aeon herself is also a very rare example of a female antihero. It's just such a great show in many ways and I wish we could see more like it.

You got a problem with CG animation? I mean that utilizes the medium just as much as 2D and makes use of current technology, I'm not against 2D, quite the opposite but I also disagree with just labeling CG as "looking like a video game."

CGI is getting tiresome. We want more Western 2D adult animation, like something pretty to look at, not something that looks ugly.

I always thout she was the most practical super female aiss kicker bcuz she had a very sensible shoe!!! No spiked stilletoes or worse, wedge heels! Just a nice above the knee boot with a kitten heel. I remember watching when this first aired and fell in love and embraced the weirdness. Corporate Media are cowards and only think in terms of money never wanting to risk like cable channels used to. MTV and USA Channel's Night Flight used to have some of the best, and weirdest, animated shows and sadly most of them are forgotten now.

Yes, _Æon Flux_ was a masterpiece. I watched it when it first came out, in my early twenties. We knew it was revolutionary, and I loved how it never let us root for Æon or Trevor, but always kept us on the hook. I preferred the silent shorts, though the talkie eps were almost as good. I am flabbergasted at the _Rugrats_ connection. However: please stop babbling about how America doesn't have adult animation. We do have "adult" animation. They're called Hollywood blockbusters. Ever heard of _Blade Runner_ ? How is _Akira_ not influence by it? _Dark City_ ? _Time Bandits_ (American director)? If you want to bash America (more properly, Hollywood), bash them for refusing to greenlight lavishly weird art direction, watered-down scripts, and polemical screenplays (which go back far longer than the current woke era).

Someone acknowledging that love, death and robots is mid, and better described as vulgar than mature? Sir, you have my attention.

The thing is, I managed to rewatch this old animation HERE on RUclips back in 2010!! Someone uploaded the animation way back when! I do hope it's still around RUclips..

I kinda found Love, Death and Robots a bit bland, don't reall recall any of the stories, in fact; Aeon Flux, on the other hand, is STILL inspirational---NOT THE DUMB MOVIE!

Thanks for promoting the apparently forgotten Aeon Flux. I watched Liquid Television in order to catch this creative animation and figure out what the heck was going on. I never had a clue but watched it anyway.

I was too young to watch it back when it aired, but I remember my mom was a big fan and in my case, being fascinated by the art style. Watching your video reminded me that I wanted to watch it lol

This is incredible, I just got to the point where you first talk about the hallucinogenic effect (around 4:44) and got a massive Deja Vu. "Wait, I've seen something simiral just yesterday! What was it?" After a minute of deliberation I remembered - yesterday I watched "POV: The Anime forces itself on you" I was disappointed by it all being one big ad at the end, but it still had some interesting stuff, including the scene at 4:13, which came as a surprise, and is the scene I was reminded of.

If you like Aeon Flux, I'd also recommend Reign the Conqueror. Sadly, as for American Animation, it's extremely unlikely we'll see anything like Aeon Flux again. Safe and stupid has become the modus operandi for studios in the US. Recycle known IPs, use potty humor, employ ugly cal-art style and inexpensive non-threatening CGI- rinse, repeat.

I'm 50 and I'm still obsessed with Æon Flux, ever since it 1st aired! The Maxx series is also genius!

As someone who watched the original shorts and series on MTV in Europe (yes, I am THAT old), I can tell you it was so new and shocking that it only aired late at night. I can honestly say that I saw nothing more original before or since.

Brings me joy that I see some one covering this!!! One of my favourite adult animated series.

I think the reason that Aeon Flux was allowed to exist was because it had that dark 90's attitude that networks were obsessed with at the time. I think what needs to happen to adult animations for them to progress would be to drop the distinction between adult and family. I want to see an animated show written to be thought provoking rather than being offensive for its own sake. A lot of the forces involved are about the sanctity of children's animation and the reactions against it. Just take a look at Newgrounds if you want to see what people really want.

About the show: I intensely disliked it but I can totally understand why some appreciate it... My reasons for this sentiment and why I believe this IP never became part of the sci-fi canon or a significant cultural artifact ARE OBVIOUS: 1. The plotline was bordering on absurdist or dadaistic, is at odds with traditional sci-fi, which typically employs a careful balance of suspension of disbelief and plausibility. 2. The conversations between characters were often incoherent and occasionally devolved into nonsensical gibberish. This made it difficult to follow character motivations or understand anything. 3. Excessive Weirdness: As if the plot and dialogue issues weren't enough, the show piled on additional layers of bizarre elements that seemed gratuitous rather than serving the story or world-building in all its facets. Music, scenes, story you name it. While sci-fi as a genre often pushes boundaries and explores unconventional ideas, this show failed to strike a balance between creativity and coherence. Instead of using its unusual elements to enhance the storytelling, it created a confusing and frustrating narrative that ultimately failed to resonate with most people. There is a point at which an acid trip becomes a stroke.

Aeon Flux has too much emotional and philosophical depth for modern Internet culture that, let's face it, never had any of either.

I remember being around 10 when this aired on MTV and I specifically thought: "This is beyond me. There's so much going on that I cannot focus." And I always tried to watch the first episode to get on it... but there isn't a first episode. So this always keep on my radar... until MTV changed direction and the episodes disappeared. Thank you for remind me of this existing.
