What accent?!?!
Big toe... so its a smelly town?
Haven’t heard that accent in 35yrs😂👍🏻
History class lied to me again. You mean to tell me Spain didn’t just up and give us Florida one day?
Thank you
Randomly found your channel and I cant get enough of the info you share. Kinda inspiring me to do something similar in the SW.
Benjamin Franklin American?
I spent a night in that jail in the 80's. Scariest night of my life, I will never set foot in the jail again. 👻
My grandparents were beaten in school for not speaking English.
Grew up there on central lafourche drive! CLHS class of 94
Uh oh we got a Trojan here 😂🤘
Hell
😂
Good job, shaa!
Merci mon ami!
Washington Parish was part of British West Florida, and was settled by mostly English families like south Mississippi was.
Yes it was
@@LouisianaDread I grew up in South Mississippi, and am almost all English ancestry. I’m descended from those settlers.
At the beginning of the video there is a restaurant called Cecil's right behind the narrator. Cecil taught me about frying chicken at my very first job, MasterChef. Eventually those MasterChef stores were closed down and he opened steakhouses. Which is what you see behind the announcer. MasterChef was also the first restaurant in Leesville to open an all u can eat buffet.
Oh wow that’s so cool! Thank you for sharing!
@@LouisianaDread How did you know Cecil Doyle or about MasterChef if you don't mind me asking?
I’m been past that place several hundred times. I do remember there used to be a sugar mill there in the day.
I believe you’re thinking of a paper mill
I live in Bayou Blue Louisiana. Can you figure out how we got that name? Believe me it ain’t Blue…
😂 it def ain’t blue but I’ll do some research on it!
my bad. morgan city.
🤘⚜️
America 🇺🇸 : "fuck yeah"
There was a texas ranger who won a battle out there. Civil War. He had to secure a crossing. Some wood bridge. Sneaky Texan f#@ker took the bridge late at night. Marched his men loudly across several times. In the dark. The yankee aggressors' guys on watch thereby reported many times more rebel regulars. They heard more rebels than was actually there, made ill informed decisions, and promptly got their asses whipped.
Nobody gaf about Texas Rangers? What a sad day indeed...
murica
🦶 ty dred! av a gud 🇺🇸
You too!
I’ve lived in La for 20 yrs and was a boat capt offshore for most of that time. I’m not not from here and it’s hard to find some of the “little histories” you present here. Very cool.
Thank you, my friend!
Eggs to
Yikes
If you ever do a video on Louisiana architecture look up my family especially my great grandfather A.Hays town
I will check it out
love your accent!
Oh thank you!
Whoa Nah. Where Yat. I was wondering if you did a segment on the Thibodaux Massacre of 1887. We are the descendants of Jack Conrad, a survivor and victim. He fought in the Battle of Port Hudson. We've done several interviews on News channels throughout the years. We celebrate the tragedy every November 23 around Thanksgiving Day. Your take on would be very interesting. I had to subscribe a while back because of your knowledge of Louisiana history. Blessings and Respect.
Thank you very much! I did do a video on the Thibodaux Massacre and will be sharing it soon!
My Mama's funeral service was performed here. She passed of cancer. Father Tony conducted the mass for her. I thank him still. He helped us out. God is Good, all the time.
I’m sorry for your loss. Losing a parent is always the most difficult thing to go through. God is good, keep the faith my friend.
This channel is a hidden gem on youtube! I'm in Houma😊
Awesome! Thank you!
Are you from down here? Cool videos!! Subscribed! From, Houma😊
I’m from Larose! Thanks for joining, mon ami!
I subscribed too. I hope he does one for Bayou Blue!
@@josephmcdurmon8756 Wow Bayou Blue! That's actually where I've lived since 2010. 😊
@@JuicyPeaches504 I’ve been here since 2005. I’m single and retired from the military so I love the history of this area. I’m originally from NC. I love the food and people down here. I live on lower BB.
@@JuicyPeaches504 hope you and your family have a great 4th.
I just knew the guy they named it after was gonna be a pos 😅
😂😂😂😂 right you are!
Tabunok talisay cebu???
I don’t know what you said but maybe
Thanks!
Thank you for your support my friend!
the french quarter water is definitely horrific! lmao
Oh yeah! You don’t want to get any of that on you
I live in Lacombe
That’s awesome!
Didn’t go over 50 mph. LOL as a truck driver going through there for 30 years, I know exactly what you mean.
😂 that place doesn’t play around
US Supreme court is currently trying to come up with more worst decisions.
lol you’re right about that
Should be called Shitport now
😂😂
I've driven that road many times late at night.....I call bullshit.
Chooooooooo
Also, some of the best Vietnamese food I've ever eaten. And that Dong Phuong's bread!! Not sure if that still holds up... it's been awhile.
Oh it’s still absolutely fire!
He never lived there, according to Nola historians.
That is correct. He never lived in that building. It was only for blacksmithing.
Jayne Mansfield’s body was taken to Bultman’s Funeral Home on St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans. After Katrina hit, this beautiful building, which resembles Mt. Vernon, was converted into a Borders Bookstore! 😅But wait-there’s more! After Borders “died,” cause the “Book” of Life is brief, it became its current incarnation, The Fresh Market, a gourmet grocers! A funeral home becoming an upscale grocery store-only in New Orleans!!
😂 thank you for that information! I had no idea.
Raceland: neither up nor down the bayou. Crazy to think it was such a hoppin' town before the new US 90 bypass opened. A lady from Vacherie told me that she and her friends would drive out to Raceland for fun and dancing (this was probably in the 1940s).
That is crazy to think!
This channel and your knowledge of Louisiana history is way underrated. I am always looking forward to learning more about land we inhabit. Respect from the 7th Ward.
Thank you so much, my friend!🤘 more is coming soon!
There’s a raceland Ohio right on the Ohio river…Extremely fertile farmland there and a race track so no help here buddy
This Raceland came first and the one you’re speaking of is in Kentucky. The race track there was built in the 1920s and destroyed in the 1930s. Found this through a simple Google search, so hope this helps buddy.
Keep making these. Thank you.
Will do!
Moi? Conne pas.
Quoi?
Option A ….❤
Haha nice!
Great channel! Just found it. I'm a one L Galiano from Lockport. I saw roots someone online posted in the otts. Many similar relatives. I believe there was a Raphael (not sure father or son of Salvatore) and 2 brothers, one prospered, the other didn't. Never officially traced anything, though. I have been binge watching your videos and subscribed.
That’s awesome to hear, my friend! Thank you for the support! Much more coming soon!
From what I gathered in research it’s a bit of both. Officially cause of the horses.
Love it!
I LOVE your videos! Being a gumbo person, I find your gumbo reviews especially informative and entertaining! Keep up the excellent work. 😊
Thanks so much! I’ll definitely do that.
Most of the Vietnamese population live in the Michoud area of New Orleans East and the Westbank.

Kmsl at your mind blowing gesture 😂😂😂
