Hi bro I'm glad watching your video i had a problem regarding my compressor 8 year i never used it what I'm going to do
Plastic drive gear? Weak link in an otherwise great job.
Thanks brother, well explained with a clear voice, i am super grateful for your video😀😀😀👍👍👍
Thank you for watching! I appreciate the comment!!
Clear, Concise, Congratulations. I'm not so scared to try it now. Thanks!

QUESTION: When assembling the switch and fascia (Fig 3 and 4 in directions) the stated directions say (paraphrased) "Insert the KEPS nuts with the toothed side out". This seems counter intuitive - as you need the teeth against a surface in order for them to lock. Is it just that there is no need for these screws to lock? OR - does 'side out' mean facing towards the outside of the fully assembled table (in which definition would mean the teeth face inward to the accepting holes?) This specific instruction seems counter to logic.
If the nuts go into a recessed hex pocket the washers would interfere with the fit and wouldn't be needed to keep the nut from turning.
Don't replace the drain valve. Replace it with a ball valve with an elbow and 1/4" copper pipe you can open it with your foot.i open mine almost every time I walk by it without having to bend down and it only takes a second or two.
Having a valve that's easy to open every time you walk by will keep the water out for sure. Great idea, thanks for sharing!
Gostaria de adquirir peças de reposição para mini drilling, poderia me ajudar informando onde posso comprar?
I got the gear set from www.littlemachineshop.com They've got parts for many different brands of the similar machines. Thanks for watching and leaving a question!
Small compressors need to be replaced after about 10 years for safety.
Thank you! You are the ONLY person that showed how to adjust the router after installing it on the table. I was going nuts trying to figure it out.
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback!!
Very helpful brother thank you 👍
Thank you! I appreciate the comment!!
I had a mini mill and benchtop lathe from Machine Mart with the same problems, the only difference was, that I first made a gear hob using silver steel which was then hardened, Made a 40 to 1 dividing head and plates, cut the gears from steel sourced from the scrap skip at a steel distributers, (with their permission and a contribution to their xmass party fund), and also made a replacement set of change gears for the mini lathe. The mini lathe control panel went south after a couple of years, so instead of replacing the mother board at a cost of £90 plus, I opted for a larger AC motored lathe for which I had to make a reversing gear and also made a taper turning attatchment. turned various morse tapers for mill and lathe, made an extended tailstock barrel for the lathe. The milling machine had the same fine quill feed mechanism with the universal joints which introduced around 15 thou of slop, so did away with that, made and fitted a column side down feed with split nuts to disengage the fine feed which gave far better fine control. Had to remove the spring loaded assist arm, so made and fitted a blank plate with two pulleys to the top of the column and got a long brake cable inner from Halfords, Attached the cable to the top of the head, put a hole in the workbench to thread the cable over the pulleys and through the bench top and fastened a counter balance weight to it. Then spent many a happy hour pottering about in my shed cum workshop until Osteoarthritis of the spine meant that I couldn't stand for more than half an hour at a time.
Great story, Thanks for sharing! Many projects with shop made tooling in a skilled craftsman's shed. All the best to you Sir!
I've just replaced mine with metal gears, it's noisy as hell now. Any suggestions?
get some oil on that thing unless your going deer or elk hunting.
jesus, my compressor is years old and barely blows up a tyre for a minute before the pressure drops and the motor starts to fill up with air again. I just found out on this video that water accumulates inside and needs emptied, I have had it for years and did not know this, it must have more water than a fish tank in it lol
I bet this Mac weed eater would give my Husqvarna a run for it's money.
The handle sticking out the side would anger me and would make my bench not fit and other tool stands and such not flush up to it when not in use. I would prolly use a “tee” connector and offset it inside the bench legs. Shorten the boxes you made to account for space under the bench. Prolly build a third one for additional weight. But all four wheels with one motion, and not walking all the way around your bench to deal with individual lifting casters is pure gold and you can store your bench in a corner if you want.
Thanks for the video. After changing the oil on my compressor, oil started spitting out the top of the oil cap (which seems to have a breather and check-valve of some kind). Any guesses why that's happening? I have the oil level exactly halfway in the sight-glass, and I used oil meant for air compressors (ISO 68).
I like this video so much, I'd like to send you some WD40. Thank you sir. Couldn't you have done the same using wood? I've seen a few Retractable caster videos recently. Great idea!
I'm not sure if it's smart or not but when I drain my tank I let it run for a bit with the drain open to force out all the water
Great work. Over-engineered vs standard wheels. I think.
Thanks for the comment!!
needs grease, but great concept
Thanks for the comment!!
I have the same saw, but man yours is in great condition, has been taken care of well! Thing is built like a tank, no tool company would use so much metal on a tool today. Thing weighs like 50lb.
Yes, very solid and still works great. And it's still heavy. Great comment! Thanks for leaving that one!!
I have the same Craftsman compressor model (mine was manufactured in 2007). Recently it stopped generating pressure beyond 30-40 PSI and would run continuously. I thought it was a bad pressure regulator, but it turned out to be a blown upper head gasket. This gasket seals between the head intake and exhaust chambers, and my gasket had blown out between the chambers. Once I replaced the gasket it worked perfectly.
My compressor will build up air but I can’t get air through the service line. Therefore I can’t add air to my tires. Please advise
DEAR GOD WAX IT.
Thanks for the video, i found my bottom gauge a bit loose, i don't know where is water leaking from. Although mine dripping clear water, i just use it for paint miniature. So i should drain this regurarly?
Yes absolutely drain regularly. And helps keep water out of the paint. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment!
You were pushing on the inner race of the bearing when installing it. Shouldn’t you be pushing on the outer race to not damage the bearing?
The bearing was tight on shaft, much looser in the outer race pocket, thus pressing on the inner race to minimize side load on bearing. Thank you for watching! That's a great detail question!!
great teaching
Thank you. I appreciate the comment!
I've been an engineer for the last 60 + years but I still get a buzz from watching machinery being worked on.
Thanks for watching! Great comment, made my day!!
Why is it so squeaky?
For dramatic effect. Perhaps a bit overdone. Nevertheless, thanks for watching. I appreciate the comment!
My belt is hard to slide on all the way back because of a little rust can I use W 40 on it.
They did come from the same place!
Thank you! I don't think anything you said was too basic for those of us that know nothing about them. I have my father's now and have never used one. 👍
Thank you! I appreciate the comment!!
@@metalwooddesignI didn't know that air compressors need compressor oils. I have one that I recently bought for cheap, the brand is total and it's manual clearly states "replace oil with 15w40" multi grade engine oils
Entertaining but unnecessarily complicated design
perhaps replacing those Chinese bearings would have been a good idea while out with higher quality ones.
I'm too cheap to replace the bearings (in something like this) if they're still good. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!
The video is good the only thing I notice is that you whip the gun back and forth quite a bit to get a good bead and the reason say that is cause I do the same thing when I'm mig welding but other than that the video was good
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!!
Awesome video! Very detailed with great views and production value.... I don't need this upgrade yet, but I will save this video for when I do! Thanks!!!
Thank you! I appreciate the comment!!
Me too. I actually don’t own the mill yet…it’s coming in a couple weeks.
Lovely! Candle wax in the wooden hole the pipe pivots in, would make it silent and you could move the bench without noise complaints from the neighbours. 😜👍🏻
Thanks for watching and commenting!!
Great thank you
Thank you for watching and leaving a comment!
Well done and well explained thanx
Thank you! I appreciate the comment!!
Nice video! Why not replace all plastic gears, and may be bearings?
Bearings were good, and are still hanging in there. The one plastic gear on top is like a fuse. If something gets jammed that's the part that will give way, and it's easy to get at to replace. I appreciate the commentary! Thanks for watching!!
Fixed my homelite 2 fuel lines and pump luckily carb was ok. Broken choke lever but works and won't dance around like yours though bummer
Life saver sir!!! Great Video!!! Just what I needed to fix my mill that I've had for 3 days! lol :)
Thanks for the kind words! I appreciate the comment!!
Cool 😎
Always wondered if I can leave my compressor under pressure between uses. I prob use the compressor about once per month. Is it better to drain the pressure in between uses? It’s a small 5 gallon no oil pancake compressor.
Question: how do I replace the small round silver bulb . Mine rusted out and broke ? So wont be able to latch the replacers ?
I got a vivo home air compressor and I can’t find the oil plug or where to fill it can anybody help
Great video, clean and precise. My only critique is why didn't you upgrade the bearings when you had it apart?
They were still OK and I'm kinda cheap. The same bearings continue working OK today. Thanks for watching. I appreciate the comment!
