    Finally I can replace the back glass struts! I’ve had the new parts sitting around for years. Nobody ever got a close up of how to release the clips so I didn’t want to try it for fear of damaging something I couldn’t fix. You’re the only one to show the steps clearly and also to make the point that the adjustment to get the second end properly aligned should be made by turning to the right. Now I’m ready to replace my struts and stop having the back glass fall on my head! Thanks!

      @@metalwooddesign It worked perfectly. Easy as replacing wipers. Something very satisfying in standing there, hitting the lift button on the key, and the glass glides all the way up all by itself. Magic 😊 Thanks again!

    Question: how do I replace the small round silver bulb . Mine rusted out and broke ? So wont be able to latch the replacers ?

    Thanks. Your video showed me how to replace the lifts on my 2004 jeep liberty. QUESTION: My keyless entry remote has a button that opens the rear window, but I do not know how to use it to close the window. Since it takes about all my strength to close it, I'm thinking there must be a way to close it with the remote. Any suggestions?

    • @metalwooddesign
      @metalwooddesign  11 месяцев назад

      The remote just releases the latch for the back glass. It has to be closed manually. The new lifts will be stiff.

    For some reason, the new shocks i bought wont collapse and they are fully extended. How do I get them to collapse so I can fit them in? Have you see this before?

    • @metalwooddesign
      @metalwooddesign  5 лет назад

      Make sure you've got the right part. It shouldn't be any longer that the old ones. They are very stiff when new. Big change from the old ones that won't hold the glass up anymore.

    My problem is that the ball you attach the strut to at the glass end has eroded away. Is it possible to find something I can weld on to replace it.

    • @metalwooddesign
      @metalwooddesign  3 года назад

      For that ball end maybe try a decent hardware store that has the many pullout hardware assortment drawers. Thanks for watching! Good luck hunting for parts !!

    Where can I find replacement mounting studs? Mine rusted away where the shock mount to vehicle

    • @metalwooddesign
      @metalwooddesign  4 года назад

      That’s an interesting problem. The bracket is welded to the body and the ball stud looks like it’s riveted to the bracket. One thing to possibly explore would be to find a suitable bolt-in ball stud from a local hardware store that would have assortments so you can find the one that’s just right. Good Luck!

      @@metalwooddesign I had the same issue. I simply ground away what was left of the old pivot balls, drilled holes in the welded brackets, drilled holes in the ends of the shocks where the balls went into & then secured them with screws & nylon lock nuts. Worked like a charm! 🤘🏻🏁☠️

      @@superjoint57 Great idea, thanks for sharing! Someone will be able to use that. Some of the Liberty's are 20 years old now and there's definitely corroded ones out there!
