    Thanks for posting this video. It was very helpful. How can I buy you a beer?!? I had a leaky strut and replaced them at the same time. On side note, getting the ball joint in and out was the hardest part for me. I tried a couple of options, but it wouldn't budge. In the US, Autozone lends out specialty tools (just pay a deposit which is refunded at return). I used Blaster and the Pitman arm wedge and it fit the LR4. The ball joint separator and ball joint wedge they have are for cars and aren't wide enough to fit. This took some patience, but it eventually came free. Then cutting the lower 1 inch off the old ball join bolt head allows it to come right out. It takes 1 minute of cutting with an angle grinder to save some really hard work and frustration. Getting the ball joint back in back in without pulling your axel out is extremely difficult. Your method seems to be the best method.

      Yes the engine could be out of time causing low compression, or a failed head gasket could also cause the low compression. Head gasket failure would be accompanied by other symptoms though like burning coolant, overheating etc.

    If you remove the fuse, and the car sags, does this definitely mean the struts are worn? What about the seals at the valve block? If they’re letting by then you’ll get the same effect, no? I’ve got this job to do on the rear of my wife’s car, so the video is useful. Thanks

    • @evandoeseverything174
      @evandoeseverything174 Месяц назад

      The benefit of removing the fuse is that it will somewhat highlight where the leak is occurring (not definitive but a place to start). With the fuse in, the vehicle will auto-level as it loses air, so for example if the front valve block was leaking but the rear block was okay, you couldn't tell which was the problem because the vehicle would drop pretty uniformly. With the fuse out in that scenario, only the front would drop. Similarly if a single air spring is leaking, with the fuse out only that corner will drop...etc. Again, just a place to start.

    • @evandoeseverything174
      @evandoeseverything174 3 месяца назад

      Great question! I'm honestly not sure. The biggest issue behind the intake manifold is the wiring harness, and I'm afraid that with the intake manifold in place you won't be able to move that wiring harness around enough to be able to get the sensor out. My guess is that you'll need to remove the intake manifold.

      Not sure how many hours, but I did this over two weekends with the exception of having to wait for my new injector puller tool after my first one failed. I would not do the job simply as preventative maintenance. The timing chains/guides are not something that will catastrophically fail. You'll hear diesel-like clatter or get a check engine light for cam/crank correlation error long before. If everything is fine now, I'd leave it that way.

    Hi, did the car shivered/vibrate when you braked at medium and high speed ? I dont have the clunking the noise, but when I apply pressure on the rear bushing with a crowbar, it moves quit a bit whereas the front bushing does not move thus I am assuming that the vibration comes from the bushing and not the brake rotor!
