Do academics think that humans are the only species on Earth? If we were, I could understand his confusion to a certain extent, but we don't just need to look at ourselves to understand this, we have animals, and animals have genders, and the genders has different tasks and roles even in animals, just like us humans. Does academic mean "A person who lacks the ability to think logically" today..? But I bet if their lives depended on it, and they had to choose between a highly trained man or a highly trained woman to defend them, few of them would choose the woman. So maybe it's something life-threatening they need to be able to think logically again..?
