If you want to live in a multicultural, multiethnic society, move here, to the United States. If you want to live in Scottland, then assimilate into Scottish culture, and accept that the whole of Scottish society will be dominated by Scottish people. The same goes for every European, British, or Scandanavian society. The same standard must apply to these countries and cultures that applies to every other country and culture. The sole exceptions to this rule, in my mind, are my country and Canada. We are nations of immigrants who inherited land not first populated by our own ancestors, so we really don't have any business forbidding the continued development of our wildly diverse cultures. But the cultures that all the immigrants in our country come from should all be seen with the same level of self-determination. Scotland is where Scottish people are from. No one who is not ethnically Scottish has a right to be involved in the government, nor to have a say in the culture. That is unless you believe that a group of Scottish people can reasonably move to China and begin complaining that there aren't enough Scottish people in the Chinese government, or that Scottish culture is not sufficiently represented in Chinese media.
If you want to live in a multicultural, multiethnic society, move here, to the United States. If you want to live in Scottland, then assimilate into Scottish culture, and accept that the whole of Scottish society will be dominated by Scottish people. The same goes for every European, British, or Scandanavian society. The same standard must apply to these countries and cultures that applies to every other country and culture. The sole exceptions to this rule, in my mind, are my country and Canada. We are nations of immigrants who inherited land not first populated by our own ancestors, so we really don't have any business forbidding the continued development of our wildly diverse cultures. But the cultures that all the immigrants in our country come from should all be seen with the same level of self-determination. There should not be a different standard based the level of melanin nor lack thereof in a population's skin.
