I nearly chocked on my water when you quoted the price of that picnic basket. I have one in my barn to store some odds and ends of glassware. And then you quoted some more prices of other things and if I could transport my barns to Canada, I could rest on “easy street”. But we know that’s not possible. I do love the treasures you both brought home. I have throughly enjoyed Tasha sharing the spotlight with you and this mama’s heart knows how very much you have loved having her visit. So many great finds! Thanks for sharing your thrifting trip with us. BTW, those gorgeous blue bowls are actually cuspidors.....used by tobacco chewers when they needed to spit indoors. They are in great shape and certainly would make super dog bowls. I love re-purposing old items......I often use porcelain chamber pots as planters.

I have seen the old door knobs placed on a "board" and used for hanging costs etc. Very pretty.

You have such a tiny sink. Is it unique to your farmhouse or is it common in Canada?

You need to season your food especially soups with each addition. Shallots and carrots and potatoes, season. Tomato’s, season, green beans and chicken stock, season. After it cooks for hours check it again before serving and season more if needed. The same with your eggs. Season while cooking, not after. It’ll make a big change.

This was so fun! Y’all found some great treasures! One thing I enjoy about thrifting is if I grow tired of something I don’t have to feel guilty about passing it along for someone else. Oh and I’ve been meaning to say that the rectangle shaped picture you have in your dining room with the mirror in the center is on a show we watch called “ All Creatures Great and Small” by the BBC. Every time I see it I think of you. 😊

I've had mine for a long time and I hang them on a tabletop Christmas tree (red, vintage feather tree) in my kitchen.

I bought a lot of vintage toys for the children in those shops. Not to mention clothing for them as well. It’s a wonderful feeling when you can find such items at a wonderful price. Hi Suzanne, old glass will turn purple over time when exposed to sunlight because it contains magnesium oxide. It is not dangerous, but people collect it now because of the pretty color. They stopped putting that in glass making around WW1 time period. There is also uranium glass, which is also called Vaseline glass, it is greenish yellow and turns very neon green when exposed to a black light. Alot of times you will see people shopping in thrift stores with small UV flashlights. They are looking for uranium glass. Thanks for the fun vid. Karla in Cali.

Suzanne, there's nothing better than a good old-fashioned Christmas with all the kids home. Mine was a bust this year because of health issues in the family members including me. There's always family dinner every Sunday that makes up for the lost holiday dinner this year. We are in the midst of a misty rain drizzle that promises snow overnight, but we will see. The ground temperature is 40 degrees so even if the two inches does happen it will just be a sloppy, messy nuisance snow. We have had a very mild Winter so far compared to what it's supposed to be. Your home always looks so clean and fresh. Mine .... not so much. But then house cleaning was never taught to me. My domain was always outside the house with yard work, taking out the trash, burning in the burn barrel (does anyone even have one anymore), working on cars in my teen years. I haven't learned to clean when it doesn't look dirty just yet but I'm getting better. It's a real learning curve for me. Love the vacuum. Have a very Happy New Year. I usually just stay home and enjoy the fireworks that take place around my neighborhood. Nebraska Dave Urban Farmer
