Hi Suzanne. Thawing bacon in the microwave is also an option for times when you have forgotten taking it out of the freezer on time, however, it has to be done and used immediately to prevent bacteria forming. Of course, slowly defrosting in the fridge is more ideal and safer. Greetings from South Africa❤
Or for the bacon you can precut some in small chunks and then put in a ziplock bag, press it out flat and freeze it. Thaws super quick. Loooked delicious!!😊
The soup! I must make it. I hope I can get my hands on some fresh corn. I can’t eat that much, so I think I will freeze most of it without the dairy so it doesn’t get all gross. I will add some after I defrost it. I love the hack about cooking the corn cobs right in the soup. Yummm. I really love your videos. You are so down to earth. ❤
This looks wonderful! Thanks for the recipe - will definitely making this for the weekend. Was in Canada last week on vacation...such a beautiful country. Brought the fall cool air with us back to South Carolina and am looking forward to soup/stew season myself :).
Hello from Wisconsin USA. Missed watching you lately. Now recovering from Covid. What a nasty bug. Took me 3 weeks and my husband 2 weeks. Still fighting low energy. The corn chowder looked wonderful. I never added cobs, but it must add additional creaminess to the soup. How has your garden produced? My children each have nice size gardens and this year the onions were a bust. Too wet at my sons and the deer ate at my daughters. Everything else is producing quite well. Each of them are started on canning. Busy busy. Thanks for sharing your time with us. Enjoyed as always. Joan
Hi Joan! Believe it or not, I was thinking about you recently. I realized I hadn’t heard from you. I’m so glad to hear you are ok (I worry about people 🥲). Too bad about covid though. I hope you can get a full recovery. I know it’s hard on you, for sure. I actually only grew a couple of things in my garden this year. I gave it a rest (and myself a rest 😂). So much work! I only have potatoes to dig out. And weeds!!! Lots of weeds! So good to hear from you!❤️
Those beets are beautiful!! I love roasted beets! I noticed, at the farm market I go to, that they now have produce called “2nd chance” produce which is discounted. Most of it just has minor blemishes which doesn’t bother me 😊
@@thefarmerswifecanada Yes! I was able to can tomato purée and diced tomatoes for the winter. I have a garden but lack of rain really took its toll on it so I’m thankful for farmers markets!
I never put clothes in the dryer, I hang everything on hangers on a garment rack in my laundry room to dry. I live in Alberta and it’s a desert pretty much so they dry within a day or so. Only linens and socks go in the dryer. My clothes stay in great shape for a long time this way.
Yes, it really is better for your clothing. I also found them to naturally be wrinkle free. Just from the breeze moving the fabric constantly. I will definitely hang them as long as I can. We are not as dry here, but probably close! We have very dry summers.
My husband and I drive a tractor trailer to the majority of all the states and you would be shocked how many places just change the label and say it's local.
That’s normal for kids to take what they have for granted. Kids don’t usually understand how Blessed they are.
@@lindamaldonado6807 Very true!
I love your hair, clothes and home. Your aesthetic is so pretty 💖
Thank you so much!!!! 😊
That soup looks delicious!!! Your day looked so comfy. Great video

Thank you! 🙏 I don’t have a microwave, but that is a great suggestion. Probably even hot water would work. I hadn’t thought about it in the moment 😅
@@thefarmerswifecanada you’re welcome.,
Thank you for the recipe!! I'm excited for more of your soup videos 😊
Oh great! Glad to hear it, I’ll be making lots of soups in the coming months 😀
That is a great tip about seconds. Isn't it sad that we don't want them as a culture. All home grown is good. Karla in Cali.
@@greenQT Hi Karla, you are so right! I think we (as a culture) are just so used to seeing a manicured version of real food. It’s unfortunate.
Seeing these beets has be excited to harvest mine and pickle the little bit I have.
Oh good! I’m glad you have beets in your garden. They are so good. 😊

Its important to seperate your laundry like that even using a dryer. Your soup looked delish.seasonal eating is such joy and urges you to be creative.

Do you save your beet greens? Eat them like fresh spinach...yummy
Yes, we actually grow the beets specifically for the tops. We are only selling the roots because they grew big enough!

@@tinavaillancourt1165 It’s shocking really, and undermines people who are actually farming 😌 A sad reality
@@thefarmerswifecanada Exactly.
Do have to add the peppers,?
No, you can leave them out if you don’t like them. It just adds a nice colour 😊
I thro frozen bacon in a bowl of hot water does not take long
Great tip! Thank you 😀
I've never understood why people with gardens don't hang their washing on a line they smell so much bette
Yes, I love it. In the winter I will need to use a drier, but nothing beats the smell of laundry hung outside. So fresh!
Sorry to thaw
Washing your clothes is common knowledge I always seperate clothes in my country u don’t use clothes so bad for your clothes
