    Some people say that the trades will be safe… but even if it’s a long time before a robot can cut and color hair like I do, my clients who have lost their jobs won’t be coming into the salon. Everyone will be affected. There’s never been a better time to start being or learning to be self-sufficient!

    Personally, toothpaste and a toothbrush aren't too heavy or bulky that for a 72-hour kit, I would omit it. I've had to bug out with life-threatening weather before and there isn't much that makes you feel better in a stressful environment, where you are literally out of your element, than staying clean. It's refreshing and for me, also aids in my mental health when I am physically clean. And if you are going to put your baking soda in a baggie, label it hahaha. It looks like you're carrying drugs, and the last thing you want in a stressful bug-out scenario is to be questioned by authorities about your little baggie with white powder - innocent or not. Also...squish your TP rolls people lol. It's so much wasted space to keep it in that nice pretty cylinder.

    Yet another excellent video on budget prepping. I appreciate you putting out videos like this that show people that prepping should not be cost-prohibitive. Bravo! Thank you! Regarding your question, I think that with the new administration being sworn in and many of the mistakes of the Biden regime being corrected, prices will stabilize, if not go down slightly, due to more supplier confidence. I have nothing to prove this. It's just a gut feeling.

    Don't shop at Walmart they funded chump. They are the reason we are feeling the need to stock up on food and stress about everything coming after the inauguration. Walmart helped cause the problem and now they want us to run to them to give them our money. Also they stopped equality programs they had. They won't hired to reflect the populations they serve and they won't seek or retain any minority or woman owned businesses as business partners. Please find another store to shop at. There are lists out there of the businesses that supported this disaster that we are about to experience. Take note and support business that want democracy in this country.

    I made great northern beans with some of the leftover ham from Thanksgiving. I reinvented the leftover beans and ham into a creamy white beans, ham, and potato soup by browning a little onion carrot and celery. One of my favorites. We are huge fans of all dried beans and different types of rice. Oatmeal is a huge hit in the winter at our house.

    Regular oats take longer to digest so stick with you longer during the day. They only take an extra 30 seconds to cook in the pan. I just eat them raw with some milk and cinnamon. Also a 1/3 raw oats to 2/3 pancake mix ratio will, again, keep you going a lot longer during the day on fewer pancakes. The oats are virtually unnoticeable in the mix and add some natural protein and fiber to an otherwise highly processed food. If you're eating on a budget though, a sweet breakfast once or twice a month can help keep morale up.

  • @gonefishing3644
    @gonefishing3644 День назад

    Yes, if you have a very small budget, an empty pantry and you need to buy a little bit of a variety of the basics, this is the way to go. One of downsides to buying this way, is you are usually paying MORE per oz. for those smaller sizes. Another downside, if you are stocking up for possible hard times in the future, is these regular pantry staples are NOT packaged for long-term storage. So, this means you must periodically inspect these foods and discard any cans that start looking bad or any bags or boxes of dry food that have gone rancid or hatched out maggots, weevils or grain moths. And when you use these regular pantry items before they can go stale or go rancid, you have the added expense of replacing them at perhaps higher prices. To have the longest storing food stockpile for the lowest cost AND lock in today's prices for the next 20 years, I recommend buying #10 cans of the dry basics from your nearest LDS Home Storage Center or ordering online for home delivery from their online store. The website is at www.providentliving.org and, if you want to shop in person, do call your local Home Storage Center for hours of operation and payment methods before you show up. NO, you do not have to be a church member to shop there -- just go on the days they are open to the general public. The prices listed are for SIX cans, not just one can. A way to stock up on those long-term food storage items that are NOT available at an LDS Home Storage Center, is to have an Amazon membership and every day check prices for #10 cans of long-term food storage. Recently some of the #10 cans of freeze-dried meat, freeze-dried cheese and dehydrated vegetable items were priced at 20 to 40% off their regular price for Black Friday sales. I check prices daily and it is a rare occurrence when there is not at least one long-term storage food item on sale from one of the major manufacturers (Augason Farms, Mountain House, Fresh & Honest, Nutristore...). I like knowing that if I buy dry food packaged to store for at least 20 years and store it properly, I can just forget about that food until the day comes that I really need that emergency food. No worries about it quietly spoiling in the pantry or having the adding cost of rotating/replacing that food before it spoils. Long-term food storage is insurance against hunger because we never know what the future may hold. And it is nice to know that if we get laid off from work, we do not have to choose between using our savings to buy food or to pay the electric bill.

    Prices will never go back down to pre-covid era. Mega chains have admitted that they raised and kept prices over inflation levels, because they could. With billionaire culture being the new norm in 2025, expect exactly what they tell you: tariffs on everything and that it is going to hurt. Musk was almost giddy in admitting it. He could feed millions but instead is prepared to cut social security, TANF/ food stamps, etc. The poorest will suffer the most.

    We like to get the cans of pasta sauce because they are cheaper, and won't shatter if we accidentally dropped on our tile floor. Having said that, they don't last as long; however, when they have sat on the shelf for awhile, we then open them and dump them, one can per tray, in our freeze drier. Then we process them to a powder in a magic bullet and seal the powder in a 1 pint mylar bag. This extends the storage life quite a bit, they take up less space, and makes them suitable for long-term storage. Five cans, five trays, makes 5 bags of powder. Add 24 oz of water and presto - pasta sauce! Of course, you need a freeze-dryer...
