I've been a preparedness gal for years. I used to watch about 20 different prepper channels and have weeded out the whack jobs. Now, I watch 7 channels. I have to say your channel has become my favorite channel. You stay focused and don't get up on a soapbox about politics, and your fan base is great for chats-respectful chats and smart followers as well. Thank you for what you do.
I was born in 1960, every seven years everything will change. From banking, homes, cars, health, food etc. So hearing about AI, is a major change. I believe since I have been around, 64 years, I have seen the most changes in this country, than anytime in my life. We are paperless money, paperless bills, credit card hungry, live for today. Never see the freight train coming towards us. My money goes to bills, a rusty old car, and a house I inherited from my parents, and it needs loving. I mentioned all of this, and I am 64. But I feel you have greater knowledge than I do. That is wonderful, I am happy to hear your videos, and remember what my families use to say. They basically did canning, of fruits, and vegetables, and if someone needed a hand they were a phone call away. I guess you make me think, and hopefully I can gain employment in 2025, but my health is top priority. Hopefully everything will workout for everyone. So, I am not a writer, sorry for any mistakes, and your family has a great Christmas, and New Year’s…. Enjoy
Well said. The importance of preparing can't be stressed enough, especially considering how unprepared and reliant on the status quo most people are nowadays. Did you see the girl banging on a closed fast food window crying for help the day Verizon had widespread outages? She was lost. Some people can't even find their way home if their phone stops working 24 hours - Can you imagine how these people would be in a real emergency? Yikes. Keep doing what you can, constantly evaluating where your time and money go. The rest is in God's hands. Enjoy each day we still have.
You are so positive! So many prepper sites use fear and exaggeration, it is very discouraging. (I am working on downsizing my spending. Didn't realize how hooked I was on overspending till I retired.)🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you so much for the kind words and good for you! We always work on downsizing our spending as well! It's been a constant work in progress over time, but very much worth it! Blessings!! 💛
If you want positive another great channel is Canadian Prepper. He also encourages to enjoy each day we have, do what we can, and don't fear what's out of our control. Don't be fearful : Be aware, be vigilant.
I'm in a 1100 SQ ft townhouse. I have a small front and back yard, our association is not as strict as other HOAs because they cover so little. It's just myself and my daughter now, she will move within the next 5 years I'd say (she's 22), I tell her to stay as long as she wants, it's SO expensive. My home is perfect for me, I don't need 2K SQ FT. I do have a full basement, stocked with my preps :) and HER game room LOL In the 1950's homes were built about 1K sq ft and house many people, larger families, immigrants living together. How did we become a McMansion society is beyond me.
Well said and thank you for sharing! We have always been a fan of having less square footage as well. Personally, large homes cause me stress and grief with the amount of upkeep and money required to manage. I much prefer having a smaller, quaint space that is easy to afford, clean, manage, etc. So happy that you and your daughter have the space that you do -1100 sq ft is great!!
@@ahomesteadjourney And I really like the bungalows of the 50s. Had an attic that can be converted to a master bedroom. And the basement, I miss the basements! Again, easy to convert to additional living space. Here in AZ, we have no basements which would be my go to place in our brutal summers.
Here where I live in Florida NOBODY is doing these great suggestions that you have talked about. I will because I've never been rich, and I've ALWAYS had to be resourceful. Thank you!
All great suggestions. I'd add building your community. Especially neighbors. I live by a mechanic, IT guy, nurse, and a builder. Related to a plumber and a heating/cooling guy. We share our chickens eggs and garden produce with all of them. And they've helped us as well when my wife was out of work. Start now. Bake some cookies or something to share around. Get to know people.
Nice, how does one signup? Admittedly thats one thing I lack : My neighbors are either oddballs or old retirees who have no interest - my family included, they wont even buy a gun. I agree community is important but sadly that's not easy to cultivate everywhere. (Though admittedly I have a few cool ones around, so I'll definitely try harder going forward. )👍
@mattao18 I know how that goes too. I just listed the ones who I might be able to barter with some day when times are hard. Two of my neighbors are retired and more are definitely oddballs. They still get eggs. Keep extending your circle. My wife helps. She talks to everybody!
Really great advice especially your opening. People get jealous if they see you come home with groceries. So even buying food and placing them in bags or bring them in later at night. And getting a back up career. Something to fall back on that is not related to your current skillset. Exactly how you stated. Thanks for sharing prepping tips that help people think outside the “box” ❤
I appreciate your wisdom and discernment. You are easy to listen to. When I watch your videos on being prepared, I do not feel the overwhelming anxiety that I experience when I watch others on the same subject. I also appreciate your manner and speaking ability. I actually find you very calming and informative. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us, helping someone like me figure out how to do what I can as a 55 year old female with physical disabilities as well as some mental health issues on a fixed income. With your help, I have been able to prepare better than I have in the past. So…. THANK YOU. Rita watching from Missouri! 😊
Thank you for sharing. Great info. I will be downsizing next spring. Sell stuff I don't need on fb marketplace. Clean the garage out. I dont have cable(i have antenna tv, about 25 channels) home internet. Just my phone. I work on my own vehicles and my daughter's vehicles. What I'm not sure of , I RUclips it ha ha. Have a great night. Thanks for the info.
Excellent with everything you are saying. You give good sound advice common sense thinking. One thing I learned is doing a little Blacksmithing learning to make what I don’t have hands on making things I need. Blessings to you and yours.😇
If anyone needs more ideas the tighwad gazette book has a lot of tips. It is dated as far as prices etc but the concepts still remain valid. Thanks from Northern AZ
I make my own toothpaste and people here in the US have too much pride in learning these depression habits also I live in a city and I don't have room to grow produce and buy a survival rifle or an airgun with a least 500 FPS and you might have to hunt for iguanas and with a survival rifle you can hunt wild hogs, deer if needed and stock up on can goods!
I recently started my DIY journey. Granted I’ve been crocheting for a few years now, and making my own wash cloths and dish cloths is great, haven bought sponges in 2 years. But these depression era skills are going to be needed after January tariffs hit
