Review: Gear4Music Concertina- two months on.
An update on how my entry-level concertina from Gear4Music is holding up after a few weeks of practice.
This is a 30 button Anglo concertina in the keys C/G.

I Wrote A Jig- I need feedback!
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.Год назад
I've been teaching myself to play the recorder for a couple of years, and during that time one of the things i've enjoyed playing most is jigs. Today I woke up and fancied trying to write one. I thought i'd show you the result, and see what you think... I'd like to improve and work on my little jig and turn it into a full tune- so if you have any suggestions for instruments or sounds you'd like...
I Played My First Gig- here's what I learnt...
Просмотров 2 тыс.Год назад
Two years ago I decided I wanted to learn how to play a musical instrument. Learning as an adult with no previous musical knowledge, I wasn't sure I'd ever be any good. Scroll forwards a couple of years and I've joined a ukulele band. I've just played my first gig with them (think village hall with tea and biscuits...) I still may be on the musically inept side, but here's what I learnt from my...
I'll Show You ALL My Instruments!
Просмотров 5 тыс.Год назад
It's almost exactly 2 years since I first started trying to learn music. I started out on the recorder, but have gathered a few more instruments along the way... To celebrate two years of music practice, I thought I'd group all my instruments together and find out exactly how many I've managed to acquire so far! Just for a bit of fun, like. Can YOU help identify these wooden flutes??
Просмотров 4,9 тыс.2 года назад
Over a year ago I bought a couple of old wooden flutes from eBay. The listing was vague and the photographs were even vaguer! They also smelled absolutely terrible- so I've waited a long time for the smell to go away before making a video about them! The thing is- I don't know what exactly these flutes are- where do they come from? How old are they? What specific instrument are they? (besides f...
Review: My New Tanglewood TU2 Soprano Ukulele!

Recently I used my new ukulele in a cover of The House of the Rising Sun, and as I got so many questions about it, I thought i'd give it it's own video! This is a look at the Tanglewood TU2 soprano ukulele, from their Cove Creek range of ukes. All opinions are my own, and I'm a fool ;)
House of the Rising Sun on Tenor Recorder and Ukulele

As an adult who didn't learn to play a musical instrument as a child, lately I've been trying to teach myself how to read music and learn instruments from scratch. Every so often I try to put a piece of music together to kind of chart my progress, I suppose! This time, I thought i'd have a stab at the folk classic 'House of the Rising Sun.'

Very catchy tune! Almost in the same period this other video came along, I just wanted you to know because I'm sure you will appreciate it, if you don't know it already. ruclips.net/video/emyE_GQNFW4/видео.html
Hello im writing feom Turkey, how i can buy this chalumeau? Can you please help me i cant find anywhere..
Being a recorder player, I can tell you that learning the recorder is much more difficult than people believe. It's not a "forgiving" instrument, this is why is sounds horrible when someone who does not play one, plays one. I also think it's not a very good instrument for children to "learn music" on. The recorder is like checkers...one minute to learn and a lifetime to master.
You’re very sweet.
LOVE IT
I'm impressed
MORRIS DANCING SONGS!!!!!!!!!!! Yes......
very, very cool.
Very enjoyable and very encouraging! Thank you for allowing us to follow you on your recorder journey! v
Thank you for documenting your journey through Grade 1. I'm delighted to discover that a digital upload will suffice. I think that would be much less stressful than a face to face examination. In this sinario, what happens to the Aural side of the examination?
These are made in my town! Awesome!
Beautiful instrument. Congratulations! I live in Brazil. Here is impossible to find this recorder. And if you try to import, will pay two times the price. A shame.
Yes lesson 1 2 3 what.
The Wannabe Busker has a lot of info on cigar box guitars
I wish I had more of this sort of thing in my life, you’ve got a natural talent there that is so inspiring to see flourish. Wonderful music video, and performance that stands out alongside musicians with many more years of experience under their belts.
Happened upon your channel while starting recorder and looking at different instruments and quite enjoyed your videos. Hope you're still enjoying music!
Yes, that's why it's worth it. You'll have it for years to come. You'll totally forget about the cost in no time as you melt more into the instrument.
Ooh! Ooh! Do Captain Pugwash!! ruclips.net/video/UXi4HVLWUzQ/видео.htmlsi=n0XcO0JmVWmx1yMy My brother is a musician who is, um, "indisposed" and wanted me to send him a concertina. Me, I don't know a thing about music but kind of enough to know not to buy the cheap Chinese stuff so thanks for this.
muchas gracias.
It's french fad-gi-le
Very good!
Sounds good! Next Days want to start to learn that recorder!
I purchased my Mollenhauer tenor recorder on E-BAY for $200.00. it has no comfort keys, and can't play a low C#, but i don't mind. I am jealous of your thumb rest, tho'. The recorder is a little heavy, and rolls some! I had a Mollenhauer tenor recorder back in the 70's that mysteriously disappeared, and i've wanted one ever since, so congratulations to us both! 🎶🥰🎵🎶
For a beginner and/or for trying out if this new windinstrument fits into my personality , so to speak, and for practising fingering to get it into my fingers I would go - no doubt - for the plastic version. Only when I'm that good in it and for a career or to play regulary with other musicians the wooden one is - of course - a must have.
Jeremy Barlow's edition of the Playford work is the modern definitive edition.
😮 wow
Sleeper agents activated and making it out the hood with this one
I'm two years late, but i thought i'd like to tell you a joke: "What's the definition of perfect pitch?" " You throw an accordion into a dumpster, and it hits a banjo!" That was told to me by the owner of MIR Music Store, here in Hillsboro, Oregon, USA. His name is Jack, and he's quite a character! 🎶🎵🎶
Seriously, you need help. 😂
Suena bien, me gusta como has avanzado. Aquí en España no es un instrumento muy conocido. Hasta otra.
I dont know but i wanna know can the yrf 21 play music like aux champs and british grenadiers the same like those black fifes you see in Napoleonic marches (If you have suspicions yes i play guts and blackpowder and blood and iron)
I've been playing musical instruments my whole life and love learning new ones, and I genuinely find it extremely impressive that you were able to play anything on day 3! No matter what you think it sounds like, that's honestly extremely cool🙌🔥
Too much money for that thing. It's so much easier to make it than reed or string instruments, but costs as much... And the sound range is small... That's just stupid.
Even at 4 months your music genuinely became pleasant to listen to. You've given me hope to learn too :)
You played a simple version of "Ode toJoy" in 3 days? That's fantastic. You are a natural!
Thanks for your helpful video. I’ve just bought one of those today from Gear 4 Music because I wanted a flute but couldn’t afford one yet. So I bought the Yamaha YRF-21 Fife instead for £11. It’s difficult to play but I’ve managed to play a C note and I’ve tried your advice. Can you play various tunes on this like Disney music?
I find it quite commendable. No one laughing, it's inspiring, keep it up it up.
I thought your day 3 was pretty good!
Fake; ur not that good on day one.... Not even real
The Concertina is a type of Miniature Accordion that's made to have good tone.
How fun!
Great job!
Ode to Joy on Day 3 is nothing to be ashamed of! Well done
Re: Tuning, being sharp is good - you just pull the mouthpiece out a little.
6:13 Almost "Somewhere over the rainbow". 🙂
What the CO2 thing means is that if you burn wood and then grow wood, you are net neutral other than transport and such. Problem with fossil fuels isn't that you have emissions but that you have a net increase in carbon that is circulating in the system and or in the air which has long term implications.
Nice result ! As an (old) beginner, I would love to sound like that. I am more of a tenor player, though, because when you don't sound good on the soprano, it's hard to bear. Not as much with a poorly played tenor, at least to my ears. @meredith, in case you read that. I assume you have realized that in the meantime, but the tenor has the same fingerings as the soprano. Aulos has an affordable, keyless tenor which is adapted to people with small hands. I am one of them (really small for a man), and I can play it. It is the Aulos 221A-E. Some of the holes are not perpendicular to the surface, making them closer to each other. It works.
I'm in shock you managed to buy a tenor recorder for £30. I struggled to find one for less than £100.
I found Black Nag to be quite easy to learn -- I picked it up by ear in one listen-through. So I'd recommend that one too, if you know recorder but don't yet know any Playford songs.
