I made videos of guitar repairs/restorations.

What did they do with this guitar?
Some time ago this Martin D28 is came to my shop. As I was told it was left for a while in a really humid area. But as I was looking closely I noticed a clear traces of someones attempts of repair. With a CA glue... On a nitro finish 🙃
Of course it raises my concerns, and I was really quite surprised when I looked inside. But anyway, here how I deal with this 😊
Materials and tools:
Whitespirit (solvent)
Tajima DC390B
Painters palette knifes
Hikoza japanese chisels
Glue UHU Allplas - glue for binding
Titebond Original
Bessey Clamp GSCC2.506
DIY Spool Clamps
DIY scrapers from HSS saw blade
DIY sanding pad (I prefer Ersta sandpaper for this)
Kovax Assilex pad with 800, 1200 and 1500 grits
Mohawk gloss nit...

So a some time ago Tanya start to restore heavilly damaged (aka trashed as hell) Martin Thomas Humphrey C-1R. nah bro i was on a tight budget and started learning guitar like 2 years ago on my brothers acoustic but wasn’t consistent so last year my grandpa got me an epiphone sg for $150 and for that price it’s honestly a pretty good guitar but the truss rod is so mf tight and i can’t loosen it or tighten it
I had 4 USA martins before switching to Gibson...my question with that brand is...after so many years claiming to be the best, why havent they got thier binding issues under control yet? And why are they so hard to keep intonated and humidified? Underbuilt?

My1993 HD-28v has only had finish issues. The finish delaminates and chips off. I bought it ne and Martin doesn’t want to warranty repair it. As a septuagenarian it’s becoming hard to play, my 000-18 and slope shoulder Gibson get all the play now.
Siempre me han gustado estos videos de gente callada, anónima (en el mejor sentido, porque no se muestran) y efectiva. Nos señalan un amor a su delicado trabajo que redunda generalmente en dejar "tocable" un instrumento que no daba lo mejor de si. ¡Admirable!

Thise E strings are close to the spoon edge. Wouldnt wrapping them to the inside get them more space?
it`s totally fine. I prefer this way to achieve more or less even angle on the nut :)

I thought ALL these Godins are Richlite, even the Grand Concert. Are you sure? Maybe it's pre 2000.

Obviously the guitar was dropped by that damage on the belly, but, I think this binding issue is the result of not humidifying the instrument.
Is it OK to change.fret sizes say it had small frets could you change out to jumbo frets?
What’s the spray they are using?

Currently maxed out my truss rod and it wont budge. Thinking the nuts stripped. Can almost live with the neck relief, but deep down inside, i know this needs done 😢
What clear coat do you use?
@@JokaRed3 in this case it was Borma acrylic 40 gloss :)
What did use to grease the nut?
Use any lithium grease, or grease for bearrings

Why not completely remove the top? If the glue is glad in a few places isn't it likely bad everywhere?
@@notabot6837 I’m only doing it if it is necessary. It’s way, way more work. Top and sides could change shape after some time and it will be so hard to put it back together 🙃 And overall all repair could be more noticeable if I do so. And here situation was bad, but not as bad 😊

Even though i know wood glue is a stronger bond than the lignum in the wood, it has always made me feel super sketchy about the integrity of wood joins. Can't explain it my brain just dumb

마틴은 습도 관리도 잘 해야 하지만 본인이 그런것을 알고 구입 관리해야 하는데 모르고 명성만 듣고 구입하는 사람들이 태반 이지요
I need to find me a good luthier. I have an old Martin that needs some love. The body is damaged and the fretboard is pretty ratchet. It's a D-35 from 1995. Would love to restore that.
