In 63 years of pro playing I've never seen a broken fender head stock or a Ric. or a Gretch. But I've seen many broken Gibson heads two of which were mine.
Great video as always, but one quick question: what kind of gibson modell is this? I never this kind of Gibson logo, only one inlay at the 5th fret and almost no grainfiller. the pickups looking like the ones in the "zoot suit" sg. Is this thing heavily modified or some kind of special edition?
@@thenonebadh they appeared in early 2000's, but didn't become popular. They had sufficient weight relief (perhaps the lightest Gibson guitar) and weird design with strange carvings on body.
Love the video! But, please use the correct screwdriver at 1:07. The amount of destroyed screwheads I find on guitars that I need to work on is roughly 4 of out 5
I'd like to see real statistics, I can't believe your statement that their head breaks no more often than other brands, in 35 years playing I've seen many Les Paul heads broken (on friends and acquaintances, I'm a Strat guy) and I've yet to see a Fender snapped at the headstock. Btw, are you in the same repair studio than Tanya Shpachuk? I liked you telecaster truss rod video
Well, maybe in your area it is 😊 But as a guy in repairs I see many snapped and cracked heads and necks, and Gibson comes to us not as often as it is said. Of course maple necks are just stronger, and angled headstock just adds potential for fracture when guitar dropped. So yeah, you don’t see many fenders or fender-ish guitars with that problem 🙃
.......and how many breaks at the bolt on have you seen? That's not the point. The shit is wood. It doesn't matter what brand's stamped on it, wood is going to tolerate what it can tolerate.
I don't play my guitar nearly enough. After 7 years my frets look exactly the same as the day I glued them on. I have been playing more recently if only to distract me from thoughts of building a banjo.
Here in Ukraine for some reason they are quite common, or people who own Menaces bring them only to me. So I might be biased a bit 😁 Hahaha, your comparison is spot on 😆
mine stay perfectly in tune. and i have one from the early 70s that i toured with in the 80s that has been chucked into trailers, had heavy equipment lay on top of, crossed time zones, gone from 90f to snow in 24 hours, been on hundreds of gigs, had smoke, beer, sweat, and god knows what soaked into it and it's fine - perfectly fine.
I thought it was just my Gibsons that stayed in tune and never suffered a headstock break and I've used all sorts over 30+ years, even ordered them online including an SG, Les Paul and Firebird and not one bit of damage. I guess it's how you treat them but good to know someone else takes care of theirs.
Man i swear there were some deadly diseases hidden in this fingerboard It's not even guitar maintenece at this point, it's basic hygene to clean ur fingerboard
Можна і так 🙃 Але і такий варіант дає нормальні результати (я вже подумки уявляю як все навколо забризгане клеєм коли я наступного разу спробую так зробити 🫠)
Now it’s authentic
Haha! 😂
yup
Perfect reply
Glue joint: stronger than wood itself. Conclusion: all Gibsons should be made entirely of wood glue
Well ummmmm basically uhhhhh yeah
😂😅
That is some incredible work! Nicely done!

I can totally understand why you took the time and effort to bring this beauty back to life. Gorgeous piece of history

Clicked to guess Gibson and copies and saw the case before I i could touch the comments.
Great video!!! I love guitar repair, it gets me calm feelings bringing a beautiful instrument back to order!!!
Thank you!

Buck Fibson
Yeah, Guck Fibson!
11:10 What's the stuff used to clean the hardware there? The bottle looks a little like one of the Dunlop cleaning kit ones.
@@HereForTheMetal it is dunlop 01 deep cleaner for fretboard. Great stuff for cleaning

@@TadykaGuitars never heard of that. Thanks for the quick response.
I wanna know what name is it they came out with Les Pauls, SG and I think a explorer

It's got a head stock Trem.😂

What a beautiful gibson
You ain't got a real Gibson if the headstock ain't at least cracked
Why no clear lacquer on the exposed wood?
Honestly? I want to do that, but customer doesn’t pay for it 🙃
Dont even have to be a guitarist to know the brand! Respect the Gibson legacy but I love my Fender Ultra tele! 😂
Very relaxing to watch!

Nicest break I've ever seen.
Oh a gibson menace! You dont see many of them about! They always look like a 12yo got hold of dads spray paint and re painted it! Cool model tho

Nice job!!
Just started the video...but gonna guess all Gibson
Is it better to intonate on 19th fret instead of 12th?
If you play there a lot - yes. Try to think about it as a compensation of “micro bend” of the string which you do when you are playing.
What type of les Paul is this?
@@wyattc. this is Menace series
only with glue really? That seems catastrophic
It is not necessary to reinforce all types of fracture 🌚
Unique logo.
It’s the angle of the headstock! Makes gibsons weak there.
Beautiful guitars……but don’t stay in tune & weak at the neck

Not a Fender, I tried to break one once. Just hurt my hand .
Classic Gibson break.
Gibson...old technogy, heavy, awkward controls.
So many better guitars for a lot less.
Es muy probable que vuelva a romperse por la fuerza de las cuerdas , si o si hay que hacer refuerzos , lo digo por experiencia!!!
It will not break again, only if you drop the guitar, and anyway new crack will be in other place 😉
Gibson and Epiphone of coarse
Nice repair job tho

You can tell by a build type or a build style.
All guitars built in a particular style will have the same issues.

Junk
Not only is Mahoganny the wrong material for guitar necks, it's also a poor quality one. Sorry Gibson!
