    I wonder if my sample ball of this yarn is just weird. I find Drops Nepal to be extremely prickly, almost antagonistic. I didn't think it was at all similar to Drops Lima (also one sample ball), which I was able to use without issue and which doesnt have the spiky quality that my ball of Nepal has. I remember being really disappointed in the difference because the fiber content was so similar and it's from the same company.

    I think body image issues may be more pronounced for those of us who grew up in a culture where small and thin were mandatory: figure skating, gymnastics, dance, etc. It is particularly jarring when the change is sudden as in pregnancy...not so much when it occurs slowly as in old age (my experience!). Hang in there. If you think you're tired now, just wait until baby girl arrives. You'll look back with wistful longing at the 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Chin up - you're sensible and you'll be great.

    • @TheStrikkechick
      @TheStrikkechick 4 месяца назад

      That definitely checks out - I did both figure skating and ballet when I was younger (but also had a metabolism that kept me tiny no matter how much I ate) and now that certainly isn't the case. I know different things work for different people, but I've realized it's helped me to try and make a healthy diet and exercise plan for after pregnancy so I can feel like I'm making moves to get back to a place where I feel like myself again :)

    All the best for the final stretch of pregnancy! A friend of mine watched a documentary called Babies (I think she said it was on Netflix) when she was pregnant and she said it helped to alleviate some of her feelings that she felt like she would do everything wrong and was just overwhelmed with information. I follows four babies in California, tokyo, namibia and Mongolia for the first year of their life and the very different environments and approaches to parenting - and at the end of it all the babies are happy and healthy. That dress is going to be gorgeous, perfect colour for a baby girl 💜

I didn't take any classes, but I looked through a wide range of sizing and grading handbooks (Sister Mountain had the most comprehensive one) and tailored my specific sizing/grading numbers based on tester feedback, so it's gotten a little easier to grade with every pattern :) I actually really enjoy the math - it's one of my favorite parts of the process now!

    Yayyy, I’m so excited to follow your baby knitting journey - you are much more prolific of a knitter than me so I can’t wait to see everything you make 😊. If you make the baby bear bonnet again (or the balaclava or the baby bear suit) I make a modification to the ears where I kitchener most of the way up and then run the yarn tail through the last 6-8 stitches (3-4 on each needle) and pull tight like you would when closing a hat top. It gives the ears a slightly more rounded look! Also, check out the good bear and good bunny patterns (and Susan B Anderson patterns in general) for no sew stuffed animal patterns!

      I love the peacock patterns! I'm not a huge summer top knitter but I'd say Drops Belle might be best suited for the peacock top. For the sweater, I think Drops Air would be really nice, but it might be a bit warm for the summer (depending on where you live) :)

    Lovely, soft yarn. I can use it next to my skin, and it feels like I'm wearing merino. My sweaters knit in Drops Nepal is pilling a lot. A few minutes of maintenance is necessary after two og three times of use. The pilling is easy to fix, so its OK.

    I disagree about the softness. It can be prickly. I don't have any issues and I like to wear my sweater, as I think I'm not particularly sensitive. But I can imagine for some, it would be too much. It does peel yeah. More precisely, my sweater kind of peeled suddenly after a few months of wear. But a good razor session later, it's fine. I would definitely knit with it again. I love the dense, a bit stiff, cozy sweater I ended up with. Thanks for the review, can't wait for the next one 😊

      That's a good point - it might be because I don't really have issues wearing wool against my skin (except for very rustic yarns like Lettlopi). I'm glad you liked the review :)

    I love yarn reviews! I've used Drops Nepal for the Little Twigs Sweater and I've just finished the Step by Step Cardigan by Florence. I really like the yarn and am planning to knit more with it. Thanks for the podcast, I found it so interesting.

      I'm glad you liked it! Nepal sounds like such a great fit for the Little Twigs Sweater - that yoke texture would pop so well :)

    i just realised you have a podcast. i found your insta through your amazing ice skating reels. i am a PhD student too, in Australia, researching the role of immune cells in the eye in glaucoma. your knits are all so beautiful. I am in awe of the amount of knitting you do whilst simultaneously working on your PhD!!

      Thank you so much! Your PhD sounds super cool - I think there's quite a few of us who knit a lot while researching (I think it helps keep us sane :) )

    If you would ever want to make that cable grey sweater mens patter, I would gladly test it and knit it for my boyfriend (well, by norwegian law we lived more than 2 years together, so we are partners 😅 ). I think it is such a classic design 😊

      I am planning on making it a pattern! It's just taking so long to knit up because it's on 3.5mm needles and the body is so long :)
