    Outdoor sweaters are worn in Scotland. Mostly aran sweaters with cables or fairisle. Sheltand wool is particularly popular for colourwork.

    The buttons on the shoulder are such a convenience. Baby heads are proportionally big and the child is not always in the mood to cooperate in dressing, so opening the shoulder really helps. Best wishes on your adventures in parenting!

    I think body image issues may be more pronounced for those of us who grew up in a culture where small and thin were mandatory: figure skating, gymnastics, dance, etc. It is particularly jarring when the change is sudden as in pregnancy...not so much when it occurs slowly as in old age (my experience!). Hang in there. If you think you're tired now, just wait until baby girl arrives. You'll look back with wistful longing at the 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Chin up - you're sensible and you'll be great.

    • @TheStrikkechick
      @TheStrikkechick Месяц назад

      That definitely checks out - I did both figure skating and ballet when I was younger (but also had a metabolism that kept me tiny no matter how much I ate) and now that certainly isn't the case. I know different things work for different people, but I've realized it's helped me to try and make a healthy diet and exercise plan for after pregnancy so I can feel like I'm making moves to get back to a place where I feel like myself again :)

    All the best for the final stretch of pregnancy! A friend of mine watched a documentary called Babies (I think she said it was on Netflix) when she was pregnant and she said it helped to alleviate some of her feelings that she felt like she would do everything wrong and was just overwhelmed with information. I follows four babies in California, tokyo, namibia and Mongolia for the first year of their life and the very different environments and approaches to parenting - and at the end of it all the babies are happy and healthy. That dress is going to be gorgeous, perfect colour for a baby girl 💜

      Thank you so much! I didn't take any classes, but I looked through a wide range of sizing and grading handbooks (Sister Mountain had the most comprehensive one) and tailored my specific sizing/grading numbers based on tester feedback, so it's gotten a little easier to grade with every pattern :) I actually really enjoy the math - it's one of my favorite parts of the process now!

    Yayyy, I’m so excited to follow your baby knitting journey - you are much more prolific of a knitter than me so I can’t wait to see everything you make 😊. If you make the baby bear bonnet again (or the balaclava or the baby bear suit) I make a modification to the ears where I kitchener most of the way up and then run the yarn tail through the last 6-8 stitches (3-4 on each needle) and pull tight like you would when closing a hat top. It gives the ears a slightly more rounded look! Also, check out the good bear and good bunny patterns (and Susan B Anderson patterns in general) for no sew stuffed animal patterns!

      I love the peacock patterns! I'm not a huge summer top knitter but I'd say Drops Belle might be best suited for the peacock top. For the sweater, I think Drops Air would be really nice, but it might be a bit warm for the summer (depending on where you live) :)

    Lovely, soft yarn. I can use it next to my skin, and it feels like I'm wearing merino. My sweaters knit in Drops Nepal is pilling a lot. A few minutes of maintenance is necessary after two og three times of use. The pilling is easy to fix, so its OK.

    I disagree about the softness. It can be prickly. I don't have any issues and I like to wear my sweater, as I think I'm not particularly sensitive. But I can imagine for some, it would be too much. It does peel yeah. More precisely, my sweater kind of peeled suddenly after a few months of wear. But a good razor session later, it's fine. I would definitely knit with it again. I love the dense, a bit stiff, cozy sweater I ended up with. Thanks for the review, can't wait for the next one 😊

    • @TheStrikkechick

    Thank you so much for this video! I will be in Tromsø very soon and I was looking for yarn stores. there. I did not expect that big variety especially of norwegian producers.! I am very excited to visiting these stores 😀 Greetings from Germany 😀
