WELCOME to my channel | that american in new zealand
Sorry love , I have never had a pressie in my packages .
you gotta bite what you push out of the package with flakes so you don't loose any of it to the floor 😅
I'm not a big fan of either I'd rather make my own burger and chips. But neat that you are in Whakatane I lived just out of Whakatane for 2 years.
In rugby you cannot pass the ball forward, the ball can be passed sideways or backwards. If the ball is passed forward that's called a forward pass, and the ball is given to the opposite team, and the referee calls a scrum.
Interesting.
Don't buy second hand
Great to hear a perspective on this! Thinking hard about moving from Utah so it's fun to hear a Wyomingite's perspective, thank you!
Well done. You certainly are pretty, but I love your personality - nice and bubbly!. You are a great advocate for moving here :). I guess I had the same thing when a friend of mine travelled to the States to visit his relations (he is from SF but been here 50+ years now). great 2 month road trip. Love to do it again. All the best...
I think the people who are so insulted by this video are a bit much here. She already said that she loves it and based on her experience this was the minor annoyances at best. When American, British, etc. folks make pros and cons videos, critiques, etc. It is just minor preparations so we don't get surprised because in my experience, most people HATE surprises. And knowing the ins and outs of a country is what anyone would want to know, if all videos are just talking about sunshine and rainbows, people are going to be suspicious that something bad is hidden underneath the surface. When there are minor grievance videos like this, it gives people the confidence of "cool! I can handle that." The majority of us know that when in Rome do as the romans do, like not complaining and comparing when living there to give decent respect to everyone there. However, these videos usually aren't meant for nz citizens, but for people looking to move there. And there is a benefit to these videos existing to you as well, it is so you do get less whiny people in your country. If these videos get to those folks and they realize the negatives are too much for them, then you dodge that bullet:) just relax 😌
We don't use high fructose corn syrup in New Zealand, thank goodness.
Americans don't seem to fit in very well here, best try Australia...
Canadians are often mistaken for americans, as both sound the same, and both mispronounce the same words the same way. A Romanian lady told me assies sound different to kiwi's to her...
Why do americans think it's some how agood idea to put wire on your teeth to make them unnaturally straight and unnaturally white as it distorts the shape of your jaw line and therefore makes you all look goofy. So why?
They not candy bars, they are chocolate bars ! And it's Caramel not carmel which is a womans name !
Todays NZ pies are bad no real meat, just jelly and water, and the pies will sit on your stomach like a brick ! Go back in time 20 years if you want a good pie !
It's pronounced Zed not Zee
It's spelt, Utes...
So why??
Ur all gud girl egnore the unhappy people❤
Kiwi, bird, kiwi bird ❤ where have you been? I was been in the Forest with my friends kiwi, bird, kiwi, bird where do you live? I live in the forest kiwi bird, kiwi bird where did you eat? I eat apples and a soft pair The end 🎉 thank you for singing The kiwi bird With me
Agree on that kfc crap... Only chicken thats crispy is the wicked wings and hot n spicy chicken thats not allways available which is annoying
If this is all you have to complain about, your a very fortunate person...
How to Dad is awesome and is what initiated my interest in New Zealand. He's hilarious! In going through your watch video though and as am American, I've got to challenge some things: 1) Donuts: We DO have "exposed" ones. It's possible those donuts were well-received Euro transplants from years ago (and I really want to call them pastries b/c of that) but if you were to shop for them via online search, they'd be listed as a donut. You can find them at Walmart for instance 2) Trailers: We have both trailers, though the one you live in could also be called a mobile home or camper. Long story short, you can hitch them to the back of a vehicle, hence *trailing* them behind you...And while you said trailers--the kind that haul things rather than residences--aren't used, they 100% are actually used here. I see them all the time, especially with lawn care companies, recreational vehicle hauls, and residential moves 3) Toilets: Water levels depend on where you live. Low flows are increasingly popular and have great suction anymore, unless they have the duo switch, which, YES, DOES EXIST HERE. I've seen duo switches in public bathrooms and private homes for years, though the duo switch tends to be ineffective, probably b/c of piping. It's honestly a waste of water to use the pee switch unless there is only strictly pee in it...otherwise, you have to press it twice to flush and at that point the switch is ridiculous to have. Also, having two parts (switches) means they can break down more easily. It's better to get the handle and a good quality low flo, at least in the U.S. 4) Pies: While I'm not sure why, of all the pies, pumpkin was mentioned, we 100% have more than pumpkin pies: e.g. Shephard's, Chicken Pot, Quiche, fruit (apple, rhubarb, etc), pecan...Mince meat isn't unheard of--it was a mini plot point in a Friends' episode afterall--but I've personally never had it... I am curious what our pumpkins would be called in NZ, if they exist there
This was hilarious!! I remember reading those comments, so it's really cool to hear your kick back at them! Needless to say, I got a good laugh this morning 😊 BTW, as an American, 💯 All Blacks WOULD NOT FLY as a team name here. The NZers that commented not understanding why it was a problem must not know about the U.S.'s history of enslavement and, later, separatist and (harmfully) racist politics and practices (e.g. Jim Crow Laws, lynching, redlining, etc) with black people, among issues with other groups, such as the Native Americans, which is why certain team names like the "Redskins" and "Indians" were removed from sports' team names and why black face was removed from being used in entertainment shows.
For one thing, please don't assume you speak for all Americans or all of America. There are many different states w/unique cultures and ethnic mixes as well as legalities and normalcies. With that said, and to start, if what happened to you with the laptop happened in the states, you wouldn't get a lawyer, since it is too low of a dollar amount (anything below $10,000 USD, at least in my state, goes to small claims). There are many avenues, one of which might be similar to contacting the company used to aid the sale. Oftentimes, such as on Ebay, there is a return policy time period that allows you to return the product and get a refund if it is not as described...And, if there was a 3rd party involved (like Ebay) and they did not follow their policy, e.g. seller doesn't want to resolve it but neither does Ebay, you'd take the issue to your respective consumer protection agency for your area/state. If no 3rd party was used or had any liability, you'd take it to small claims court. Remember the People's Court TV show? That is for small claims. So yes, you would be representing yourself. If you were so inclined, you could pay a lawyer to coach you, but at the end of the day, you're on your own, at least as far as I know and have experienced...the good news is, if the other party doesn't show, they must pay you what you asked without you having to say a word other than verifying you're present since you made your case in filing the claim w/the court. As for the car accident, those always suck the first time around. It can be easy to be taken by a 3rd party representing the other person, whether they hit you or vice versa. Right after an accident ALWAYS take pictures of both your vehicle and theirs, then get in touch with your insurance company right away. Don't ever wait and always get back in touch w/your insurance if a 3rd party contacts you. Never ever agree to anything unless you talk to your insurance company first. I don't know about NZ, but in the states, if you think someone is taking you for your money (go by your gut!) that's when a *consult* with an appropriate lawyer (or three--make sure you feel good about them and what they'll do for you) happens. For the record, when I've had to get a lawyer for an accident, I did do mediation. In the U.S. most people (lawyers especially b/c of the payout) try avoid going to trial b/c of how long it takes, but also at times the uncertainty of the direction things might go if they head to trial, so I've literally gone through the same process as you (it was called the exact same thing) but on the advice of a lawyer; basically, the lawyer advised and coached me on the process, since lawyers aren't allowed in during those processes. They did represent me at some point in the process, but it never went to court. Anyway, I'm sorry you went through that. It might be helpful to have a list of steps to take and resources on your person for certain legal issues you might encounter, such as with buying and selling merchandise issues, home rental issues, and car accidents, which unfortunately can happen more than once. Also, if you are still a U.S. citizen, always be sure to have the U.S. consulate number and locations (or nearest one if there are many) on you, along w/hours and svcs they can help with. It might be worth it to call them for help in such scammy or legal-involved situations. As for mental health: there were some (honestly offensive) assumptions made about Americans. We're such a melting pot, with different cultures by both region and inheritance. Also, different people can have different things going on mentally. For example, about 40% of of our population is neurodivergent, e.g. ASD1, ADHD...I would say etc. except ADD got swallowed into ADHD. That doesn't even include PTSD (or other syndromes or mental disorders), which is typical to get after a car wreck unless it was a very minor one, e.g. hit a parked car at low speed. After a bad accident, it's hard to hold it together when your mind and body are in fight or flight mode. Please don't call that an American thing when it's a human thing. I hope you get (or got) the help you need. It might he helpful to find a therapist who indicates they have multicultural awareness. As an ethnic minority in the U.S., I found that to be absolutely relevant...but also, certainly, find whoever seems to be understanding of you w/o you feeling harshly judged and, instead, understood. Finding a therapist, unfortunately, can take some time. P.S.: It might be a good idea to reconsider using flashing red and white in your videos. Your epileptic audience won't respond well.
U.S. holidays are not drinking holidays. On Halloween alone, most people are either trick or treating or giving the tricks and treats, unless they don't celebrate at all (b/c there are religions that don't celebrate that holiday--it's a free country, after all). I'm honestly concerned for you if you think they are drinking holidays.
Great chocolate and beer? Isn't that Belgium?
That voice She’s annoying Bye ✌️
I would learn, but I just don’t want to… What a “nice’ attitude. Metric system is not that hard. 94.5% of the world’s population uses the metric system.
Pretty hard to find an uneatable pie anywhere nowadays
Most NZ people don't respect trades people. That's why they don't have any. They don't work together. The only thing they do is break people down. That's why there is brain drain in NZ. I have been here six years and wouldn't recommend anybody to come here. Racism and exploitation is a big thing. Families struggle financially to come here and NZ destroy them and some families end up in divorce, because of the pressure
f this dont like it go home i think kiwis are welcome to all races and ideas but its give and take and give mentality Dont mock me i wont mock you look in the mirror usa hmmm
you dont go to another persons house and s#@t on the floor then go back to your mansion (which is falling apart)and then say look how amazing my life is
Damn... She is gorgeous 🌝
If you weren’t white, every country would be calling you stupid for this ridiculous list
You mean totally normal stuff
Thank you @MorganMarieWolff, for such a fantastic and informative video! We’re considering a move to NZ for many reasons. I’ve been retired for just two years and worked in a field, advanced manufacturing/ automation, I understand is in demand there! We’ve done WWOOFing just this year as well as working on local organic farm here in MI, so that would also be a great possibility. Caught my attention right away when you mentioned it! We’re also big outdoors enthusiasts and love camping, hiking and backpacking. Since we’ve never been, a visit possibly in Feb / March or April timeframe might be good? End of summer there. Would a month be enough to get the lay of the land and spend time on both islands? Assuming all prices you mentioned are in NZD (currently about 1.67 to 1)? Thanks again! 😀
You are totally I mean absolutely boring boring , you make a better communication adviser for Joe Biden . Americans are the cause of all the wars on this earth during my lifetime . Why do Americans always complaining new Zealanders to/ or with Americans Are we suppose to be Americans .
I hope you got out of here before you-know-who won the 2024 election. Watching your videos now because I'm looking for good places to move with my wife and two young daughters..
you missed bare feet
I wouldn't really recommend hitch hiking in NZ although safer its definingly still not the safest form of travel. Messed up stuff still happens here so its probably not worth the risk.
Expat here, 20 years. Your complaints all fall in the list of whinging Yank. The airplane flys both ways.
Called a Ute. Because it’s a utility vehicle.
Are you back in the US permanently now?
As a brit moving to new zealand.....this video is extremely unhelpful, shallow and very derogatory to your culture. I'm so glad I've visited your wonderful country first hand, and been embraced by the warm, kind, welcoming kiwis. I'm shaking my head and looking forward to living in your beautiful amazing friendly country 😊
Maybe watch RUclipsr Curls since he's a UK transplant to NZ.
My wife and I are thinking of moving from the USA to NZ. My wife would be moving for her job and would have employment right away. I would be retiring. I’m 58 and my wife is 56. How does imagination work for older people?
the day comes before the month followed by the year and that makes more sense than the american way
an exageration to say that everyone is wearing american paraphernalia when it's just a few youth
Need to have butter with marmite and not that thick
Tried both and NZ definitely does American fast food better than the US.
Lol as someone who doesnt hold back on my criticism of NZ ive never had these problems here. The one regarding dogs is the only real problem listed on here. A pity you didnt touch on NZs actual problems... which there are many
