- YES! You can move your dog to New Zealand! We brought our westie from the America to New Zealand 3 years ago and are SO GLAD we did=) It was a tricky process but boy, if I had a video like this one, it sure would have been easier. You're welcome lol.
We made the big decision a few years ago to move to New Zealand for a bit of adventure and to get away from the city, so if you are thinking about visiting or moving here, this is the channel for you! great breakdown!! you never mentioned how much it cost you from start to finish bringing your pup over to NZ. Do you mind sharing that too?
The reason why NZ has all the stringent tests is because agriculture is a major contributor to the NZ economy. it then make sense that NZ go all out to be eco sustainable with the environment and conservation practices.

Sounds like similar circumstances to Australia. Had a friend immigrate to Queensland from Hungary, same process. Lots work to do for a loved family member. Well done

Thanks for this video! I am going down this road and have found that while local veterinarians may be USDA-accredited, they have little to no idea how a VDO has to be approved by a Gov veterinarian. Do you remember how you went through this part of the paperwork?
Very interesting vid. Love your channel, so entertaining. I live in NZ, love dogs but can’t have one because my house mate isn’t fond of dogs and won’t have one in the house (the monster!) 😞. Since she’s my older sister and we own the house, I don’t have much choice. So I watch dog videos on RUclips and spoil my neighbour’s pitbull feeding him treats. Jumbo loves chicken and ham, but won’t eat sausages unless I break them up and hand feed him 😄. I’ve subbed and am binge watching your vids. Keep up the great content 😍😍😍

Thank you for this! To double check-- you couldn't put your dog on any kind of anxiety medication? My dog get very nervous when traveling and we give him trazodone for it.
Neither Australia or NZ has rabies. Wonder why? All those form/requirements are to keep us all safe.

Dammit girl - that was surprisingly interesting! You have a wicked way with words and you could probably do a video about a cup of sand and it'd be interesting. So I'm glad l watched and of course it was so worth it for the blooper bonus!

I wasn't allowed a finger monkey. I asked Mama to bring one as she travelled alot. Customs refuses importing anything like this. I said to Mama why can't you put it in your pocket, bra or mouth. She said it was long flight, not a good idea, and the xray machines pick up things pretty good.
Also new Zealand bans certain dog breeds. No exceptions. You also need to be aware of our laws regarding dog ownership. If your dog bites anyone it will be destroyed also depending on the circumstances you could face fines or jail. It's unlikely your lovely dog will ever be in that situation. But it's wise to know countries' laws surrounding animal welfare and owner responsibilities.
You must understand why it's difficult to bring animals into any country. New Zealand is free of disease that are in America and if they got here could have dire consequences for our export trade let alone our native bird population
No, we don't. Again it's protecting our wildlife and our agriculture. If you want to bring your animals here it's your responsibility to not pass on anything to our country's plants or animals. If I were to make a very rash decision and move to the USA with my animals. I too would be jumping through hoops
