When I feed my dog, he gets excited. But if I put down his bowl and then ask him if he'd like a belly rub first, he always rolls over on his back and chooses belly rubs over his food. He loves his walks, but last winter when I was ill, my husband couldn't get him to leave me long enough to take a walk. He was determined to stay by my side, and nothing could lure him away from me, not food, not play, not a walk. He would even follow me into my bathroom. There is absolutely no way that I doubt that he loves me, and I believe that he knows that I love him too. I never want to live without a dog. I just wish that they lived longer!

I believe all those things too. I'm glad they did the science to demonstrate those things. Science is always good. But I didn't need the science to know those things. I know my dog loves me. I know he he doesn't like it when I'm stressed and that he loves my approval. I'm sure he even knows things about us that we're not even aware of.

I can't imagine my life without one or more dogs in it. From the time I was 25, Splice (13), Cody (12), Dozer (12), Digger (13), Rex (6), Opus(15), Starlight (13), Rascal (17), Pips (16), Chica (currently 11) and Tofu (currently 8). Chica and Tofu are still with me as I push 70. And btw....with the exception of Splice, they have all been shelter adoptions. And when I die, my ashes will be mixed with theirs for eternity.

Also, every one I’ve ever had throughout my life were shelter rescues, or rescued by myself, found dumped in severely inhospitable environments. And I’ll be 70 this year. Yes, without any training even. Our Jack Russell's will alert my wife or whoever is there that an Epileptic siezure is happening. Apparently they go nutz and will keep trying to lead her into whatever room I'm in. Usually not but can be quite dangerous with breathing, blood-pressure/heart probs, or environment danger like water in a shower/bath/pool so quick assessment of such is critical. Sixth sense of their's can even tell when ones about to happen when it's noticed as being a warning. And they'll stay with me until recovered. Scared the hell out of my wife and any past girlfriend who had the pleasure of seeing it for the 1st time but the dogs definitely helped calm them. Always gonna have one, probably two is more likely.

They might be evil but they ain't stupid. Keeping us angry and hating each other protects them...from getting strung up in the streets! Don't let them do it!!! Just like dog breeds might look different and have different traits...under it all they, like us, are pretty much the same. We are so much more alike..than different! Just look at how many humans for different cultures and ethnicities...love dogs! And...they love us....there is no question in my mind about that. Dogs love!!!!

The breeds I've raised...will protect a baby and give its life to protect it without hesitation. Dogs love us, love working for us, with us or...just share a warm spot on the porch. To me...near perfect souls! 😊

I knew she was in love with me right up to the end. She trusted me completely and there were very few days we were ever apart. It still feels unreal. She used to wake me up with a bark in the mornings occasionally when she decided it's time to rise and shine mom. For 3 days in a row she barked at me to wake up after she was gone. Their love for their human comes without judgement. No human does that.

As humans we get confused and think that words speak louder than actions (which is why it is easy to gaslight us.). Dogs know to believe the actions, humans fool themselves. Dogs may not be smarter than us, but I do believe they are often wiser.

I've spent my life with a dog or often dogs as constant companions, even in war. The bond is both ways.
I was a Sentry Dog MP in Vietnam. Our task was to secure a base or territory once taken by others (near Cambodia, one wasn't sure if the base was all that 'taken'). We used German Shepherds for the most part the same as 'point' or patrol dogs (and sometimes we did both duties). We each took turns doing 'Dog KP'...feeding and cleaning up after the dogs...gradually learning each dog's personality. One of us had a 50-50 German Shepherd + Wolf. That dog's personality was 'cold.' All the dogs were 'one man dogs' (that much comes through from wolves in a German Shepherd) but with enough persuasion, one could always 'get in' on any of them...except the part wolf. (Get in - inside the limits of the stake out chain without being mauled to say unkink a chain or put a blanket back on the dog...face to muzzle on that dog). The wolf-dog would just stare at you and wait his chance.

I just love reading these comments from fellow dog lovers! I have a doggy, too and we love each other very much. His name is Joey and he’s an absolute delight!
Our family had another dog when my brother and I were growing up. I left for a school event early one Saturday morning and had a headache. Mom, Kevin, and our dog, Jenny, were asleep. When I got back, Mom and Kevin told me they had been to the hospital, but they were all right. Jenny had woken them up and Kevin discovered they were being poisoned by carbon monoxide. If it weren’t for Jenny, I would’ve come home to a dead Mom, brother and dog! They all lived long after that! ❤

My life had been divided into two almost equal halves: BD= Before Dogs, and AD or WD = after orwith Dogs.I have no doubt whatsoever that my BD years were wonderful, almost enchanted, my AD/WD have been filled with far greater contentment, growth, warmth, and enchantment. I cannot see living without dogs and being happy even tomorrow I'd win $10 million. For context, I'll point out that , in my AD/WD years I've often lived from paycheck to paycheck. I know of no greaterj oy than being and loving dogs. Thanks PBS/Nova for a terrific segment.

My Dog Seamus knew when I was having a tough time at work and at home, I recall going into the park basement, and putting my head in my hands; Seamus always came to me and put his nose under my hand and he MADE me pet him, he was such a good friend to me! I wish he could have lived longer. I was so proud of my 2 children, who wanted to pet him when we had to put him to sleep (due only to his having pain, we saved him from that.)

We had a cat that appeared to know each time when my boyfriend was having a heart attack . 7 times. In fact moments before we clocked the first symptoms that cat sprang un to action and convinced first responders and even same responders more than once when the ambulance attendants had yet to clock even 1 symptom. I can't explain it but I am thankful for Elli May cat....yes our dog on the other hand would run to the end of my finger and sniff it when i was actually pointing to the front door to go out and play. His favorite thing to do😊

We made dogs, not God. If we had left it up to "God," then we wouldn't have dogs today...
As demonstrated by the people who had to live without dogs for centuries, while your God did nothing...until people started breeding them & domesticating them, creating all dogs ourselves.
I hope you don't treat the gifts you get from the people in your life the same way!

.y late wealthy uncle would get angry if u called it a dog. He said it is either an animal or a canine a dog is a no count human . A canine is honest loves u unconditionally if they like u they'll wag their tail n if they r close enuf lick your hand. If they don't like u they'll growl n if close enuf bite u the only exceptiona to the rule is if they're diseased then for humanitarian purposes should b destroyed. If they love u enuf they'll give their life for u which they've done many times.

Many of the best people I've known in life were dogs.
It is a unique relationship between species. We live and work together, even communicate, in bonds of love and friendship.
I would actually argue that dogs aren't pets at all. Never have been. Having a dog is more of an inter species adoption. 'Pet' does not describe the relationship as well as 'friend' or even 'family'

A lot of people think if we ever make contact with aliens that they'll be hostile. One only needs to look at how many dogs there are on the planet vs how many wolves to see that indiscriminate love and willingness to cooperate is a far more powerful long-term survival strategy.

Come back 15 minutes later and that bag of Jerry will still be there when I get back home. My dogs will not touch anything until I say so and offer it to them. For those wondering, doGs do seem to go back 30kya or more, mtDNA (female lineage) haplogroup C is the original European line, it's just no longer dominant, which is not that surprising (it happens with human populations). Hg C is still common in Mastiffs and bullies. We have multiple early "wolfdogs" around 30kya and they're 4 THOUSAND miles apart. By 20kya dogs where becoming common in eastern Eurasia, which is where the NOW dominant haplogroups A and B come from. There has been a lot of mixing of wolves into dogs, and dog DNA back into modern wolves, muddying the waters...
By 12kya dogs had already become widespread and genetically distinct, all this rounding DOWN to 20 or FIFTEEEN kya is a lil ridiculous.
