I put one of these on my Christmas list to 🎅, mine is Christmas Burgundy 💁♂️🤷♂️👍
i've just clocked 15.7k miles on my 143 takegawa 2015 grom. perfect right up to the big end failure on the standard crank. i'm just rebuilding with a kitaco crank and 163cc kit, see how it goes!
Hi, what camshaft did you put in? Thanks
Excellently produced instructive video. To the point excellent filming and great level of detail. Your garage puts my house to shame.🤣
Hi, really like your videos on the Monkey and your tips to make it run better, but i would like it if you would give a bit more info on the technical aspects of the mods you're doing. (Seeing the question like @simonscherer7772 , I'm not the only one 🙂 )
Morning lads , so I’ve fitted the same kit yesterday to my 22 Grom . Set the valves to your clearance setting .. I found the tappets noisy… did you leave yours at 0.08 ??
Yeah… both 0.08mm. Have you tried them on the bottom of the tolerances?
@ I will try them at a bit of a tighter drag on the filer gauges . It just sounds like the inlet is a little noisy. 👌✊🏻
Love you guys, great quality video with lots of info Im looking to do the same with my jb04, at own risk....😂 Do you use an other injector? Thanks from Holland
Thanks so much for that lovely comment! It’s great when we know people enjoy the effort we put in… we haven’t used a bigger injector because the standard one can still deliver more fuel than we are using at the moment! Maybe with the 4v kit next!
What rotors and size are you using for the front and rear?
Can you get a bigger throttle body and intake manifold?
Nice video, thanks. If one didn't have the induction heater, could the bearing be heated with a torch?
Damn. Nice video and nice Monkey. I’m getting the over racing rears. 👍
Thank you for the comment 💪🏻💪🏻 the over stuff is great kit
I can't find the summary/numbers. What was it?
I instal this today, but I have some doubts about the aluminum washers provided because I dont know if would or not have enough oem bolt length to feel well.
what oil cooler kit did they use with this intake
@@SteveDeubach we used a 6 row universal cooler from steady garage in the USA👍🏻
@@SmallboreAndMore do you have a video & or a part number for what kit you used
@@SmallboreAndMore also it look like tou changed rt side cover to hookup oil cooler lines what oil cooler bracket did you use
thanks for the reply, what cooler bracket did you use i have 2025 monkey, found the clutch cover dont know if cooler lines will route by my takegawa stock look high exhaust
@@SmallboreAndMore please share with me what cooler bracket you used & where you bought it
Could you link the tune file? Or a contact to get it mailed?
Just email technical@dynojet.co.uk. Franks team will sort you out
Amazing video guys. Very informative! I'm having some real challenges with a local to me DYNOJET chap who isn't getting anywhere near the results you guys have achieved, and now feel I'm getting "brushed off" with a kinda "you don't know what you're on about" attitude. Yet I'm the guy riding it, and I've not realised any performance gains whatsoever. Supposedly they've remapped my Monkey from 7.44 to 9.02hp. 6.54 to 7.49nM. K&N air filter and Yoshi RS3 exhaust. Nothing!! Not a jot of difference. Still slows down in 5th. Can't hit 60 (indicated) on a flat in 4th. Identical performance to a pals non remapped bike (same K&N and Yoshi). What would you advise? Any chance I can speak to one of you?
Correction..... 6.54 to 7.49 ft-lbs
Hi Mark, Where are you based mate?
Hi, and thanks for getting back to me. I'm based down south in Dorset. It'd be great to pick your brains, but not sure how to get in touch with you guys directly, other than through here. I've tried to ping you my details but the messages vanish, so clearly that's not allowed. 🤷♂ Hope to learn more. Best regards, Mark
is it waterproof? like if i were to ride through a big puddle will water get into it or the engine?
They are waterproof, like other similar filters, need re-oiled. I’ve ridden in heady rain and all ok.
@@SmallboreAndMoreok thank you!
just had a standard crank big end fail on my 2015 grom with takegawa 143 kit on it. owned from new the bike has been abused in terms of redline everywhere. if it wasn't for the crank failure the piston and bore etc were looking good. it's an excellent kit but as i'm rebuilding i purchased a kitaco 163cc kit + the kitaco crank.. see how it goes after a good tune
Next time lapel mics should be used. The echo in the room while you are talking is pretty bad.
Normally use a tad of noise cancellation, but as we made an epic fail and didn’t mic Simon, we had to leave it off this time. Will try the lapel mics next vid👍🏻
Is the takegawa 145cc kit the same one available at Ben's bikes?? S-stage????
Yes, if you contact Ben, he’ll sort you out with the same kit.
Hello, sorry but I didn't understand very well. In a future video will you test a Takegawa 4 v cylinder head on your 145 cc? THANKS Good evening
Yes, we have the Takegawa 4v kit ready to be installed on both the yellow and blue monkeys
great video 😊 Did you say you changed the rear sprocket
Yeah…minus 1 tooth to give me a little more clearance on the underbraced swing arm
Bonjour , donc rien à faire pour ce bruit ?
Bonjour, je suis désolé, c'est juste une caractéristique du kit
Just bought my Monkey need one of these...Number plate version thanks!
How did you get on with the takegawa 145 flash at dynojet ??
It was a really good (long) day… very different! Vid should be up this weekend
@ frank has already sent me the flash just waiting for results from you first before I install lol
@@PaulKneller-l5f get it installed…you won’t be disappointed ;-)

Only had takegawa fitted last week at bens after watching your video 👍🏻
I had a Moto Guzzi V100S Mandello with the factory heated grips. I also bought a V7 STONE MODEL 10 and installed the Touring PRO Oxford heated grips on that bike. I did use a 12V relay to trigger the GROUND on the grips (hot stays on the battery) with a switched wire to the ignition. No way to leave them on. So, so, so, so much better heated grips on the V7 than the V100S! The V100's heated grips just tease you with inconsistent warmth. The Oxford grips are STEADY and EFFECTIVE at tossing out a nice even heat all the time and on the LOWEST setting. Even 35 F they keep the digits warm. The TRAVELS stock heated grips will go in a box in the garage probably forever. They work so well that when I swapped the V100S Mandello for a 2025 Moto Guzzi TRAVEL (way better bike for how I ride one) I am REMOVING the factory grips that are awful, and installing the Oxford Touring PRO version and again with the 12V ground relay. I can't recommend the PRO touring version enough for the HEATED part of the equation. The small button is a little hard to push with winter gloves but once they are on, no problems and that's better than a button that gets pushed inadvertantly so I've grown to like the small button. Also, an equation item that is overlooked...the glove to grip traction is phenomenal on the touring PRO version (not sure on the other grip designs). Once you get your mits on them no slip at all and that's REALLY nice and secure feeling. Being silicone, the grips properties are nearly transparent to temperature and stay grippy and pliable. Wear should be really good, too, because of how tough silicone is over TPO's, TPR's or Vinyls. For basic bar grip all year (you can't turn the grip level on and off) not just when heating them, the Oxford Touring PRO are great. I'm not keen on the price, however. They are almost pricing themselves out of the market. Too bad as they are, in my opinion, limiting their market potential with the too high price. If cold hands aren't your thing and you absolutely have to get there in the cold, then the price may be OK to swallow. Yes, I swallowed twice.
spoken to ben he has not heard of any noise from kitaco. can you confirm if problem solved
There’s a few people who are all reporting the same thing. This was the first kit from Ben before he’d sold any others. Compared to his Takegawa 145, it was very noisy… so only one thing to do… direct comparison! Anyway, dyno tomorrow!!!! See if the Takegawas any better
@@SmallboreAndMore Good Videos. Can’t wait to see Takegawa can you confirm a top speed
On the dyno today, we’ll confirm top speed in couple of days
@@SmallboreAndMore Do you have video available from dyno and did you get a top speed?
Thanks for the video guys, subscribed!
hello, great videos. in the intro i see you have a oil cooler mounted in the middle of the dna stage 3 air filter. where did you get that? what brand is it? I've been wanting to mount a Kitaco 5 row oil cooler i got. i just cant figure out how to mount it and the dna stage 3 air filter.
Hi, it’s a 6 row cooler from Steady garage in the USA. Fits perfectly in between the DNA, but we had to fabricate a bracket ourselves.
Thanks for the comparison gents. The rattling of my kitaco kit drives me crazy, but I dont want to shell out the cash for another kit. I guess there is no other way to fix it. If I was to get the takegawa kit, would I need to do a dyno re-tune? I am running a piggyback ecu NK Racing Shift Pro for ct125 gen2
We’ll know more this weekend when we go back to the dyno. If it’s running fine on the Kitaco map, then it’ll be ok. Watch out for next vid👌🏻
have you got video of takegawa also did you find out what was happening with the tapping noise on kitaco
Not yet… but on the dyno this weekend (initial impressions is the Takegawa is more torquey but less revvy… might just be the tube needs dialled in

Hi chaps. Great channel and great vid as always 👏🏻 I recently installed these grips on my JB02. I connected directly to my noco nlp5 battery. On my first ride out with them they got nice and warm, but about 20 mins into my ride, the battery completely died on me. Swapped the battery back out for the stock one (without the grips) connected and it started fine. Any ideas?
There is a procedure to set them up for Lithium batteries voltage properties. Did you do that? "mode for lithium batteries, now common on high-performance motorcycles."

Hi David… glad you’re enjoying them… loads more to come! Is it a Takegawa panel filter or a cone filter like the one fitted to the yellow monkey on our channel?

that sounds a world apart ,cool video
Thanks for that!
With those 145cc kits, did you install a upgrade oil pump?
Yes… check out our other vids, oil pump upgrade on that👍🏻
Great video. Perfect timing as I’m starting the journey of doing a BBK upgrade to my 2022 Monkey and was just deciding between the Kitaco and Takegawa. I’ll be watching for the dyno results and the 4V install as well (though the price of that kit rules it out for me). The Takegawa kit comes with the N10 cam, but their graphs show better performance with the N20. Any chance you could install the N20 and compare dyno results?
Our dyno time in the tight thing… and we’ve planned the standard 145 kit followed by the 4 valve. I’ll speak with DynoJet see if they think it could be worth the extra time. What do you believe the power difference could be?
@@SmallboreAndMore their graph shows about the same hp at around 8500 RPM, but the N10 drops off after that, while the N20 gains power right through to 9500RPM. This is all tuned through Takegawa's FI-Con Type-X FI controller though. The PV3 may get different results.
Been waiting on this and can't wait to see the 4V! I fitted the Kitaco kit before the Takegawa one was available; mine didn't make any noises like yours to be fair. Looking for more power I've since fitted a Yuminashi high comp 54mm piston into my Kitaco bore and it's going great - it's semi domed up so maybe even more compression...
Interesting video, question is when you lads gonna have some merchandise for sale ? 👍
