My Problem With England ft. Rugby Nause
I was delighted to be joined by the one and only Andrew Nolan aka Rugby Nause to discuss the thrilling game between England and New Zealand at Twickenham... sorry, the Allianz Stadium!
We talked about how England have reached the limits of Steve Borthwick's game plan and how the All Blacks are slowly starting to figure themselves out after ten games under Razor Robertson.
We then discussed Scotland's emphatic win over Fiji and asked why the visitors to Murrayfield were so disappointing.
I also got to ask Andy about being a content creator, how he got into it and why it can be such a lonely pursuit that plays mind trick on you!

      That's the thing they're playing so bad but are winning or if they lose its not by much! It's always in the last 10-15 minutes and they seem to drop off. This was probably the first game this year AB's have come right in the last 10-15 and won because of it. But I get it there is new coaching staff etc. It'll take time to apply their philosophy and strategies so I'll take this year as a learning year. When they play good attacking rugby it looks good but they also make a lot of errors with their set pieces so when it comes together? That's the scary part how will it all come together? and when it does how will team respond. Because if we look back at all the past AB's teams especially in a rebuild phase, they always come right at some stage and go on these long runs for 3-4 years minimum. Their best run was 2007 to 2019 - winning 2 world cups and having an 84% win record! Worse record was probably under Fozzy but they did come right for his last year?

    • @richardscanlan3419
      @richardscanlan3419 8 часов назад

      @@McKenzie_Co the best run was 2004 - 2016.The wheels started to come off in 2017.The team has a long way to go,there are weaknesses in the second row,back row,10/12/13 axis.Until these are fixed,the team will be so - so. Agreed the bench was better used in this game,but once again,the quality off the bench is still suspect.I think we might be right by the next WC.But it's going to be a long journey.It will e a rough ride all the way to 2027.

    Kiwi weighing in here. The better team lost. England put the ABs under immense pressure and just missed out on a victory by the slightest of margins. England held the ABs to task right to the dying seconds but didn't finish them off. I don't mind the ABs losing, as long as it's to a better team on the day. England were the better team but they didn't capitalise. Do England need to radically change their game plan? Not really in my opinion.

    I just said yesterday that England will lose the majority of these big games if they don't make some effort to score more tries. This kicking for goal every time they get a penalty is one of the big reasons they cant get over the line. When Ireland smell blood,, they kick for the corner and score tries on enough occasions to keep doing it when it makes sense. I think rust may work against Ireland on Friday but their attack is much more inventive than England and they defend just as well as England do. I can't decide on which team will win on Friday. AB"s are without Beauden Barrett and Codie Taylor but Damien Mackenzie is a real live wire at 10. Should be a great game.

Make a tackle -- celebrate; Get a first down -- celebrate; Knock down a pass -- celebrate. It's ridiculous. What's the point of celebrating a knock on if you don't win the resulting scrum and kick the match winning penalty/drop goal?

      Well I guess they're trying to get the energy levels up! That's how I always thought about it? I'm a NY Jets fan and our game against the Steelers we got absolutely obliterated in the 2nd half! But Davante Adams said something in the Locker room after the game that the team wasn't celebrating the small victories - that stuff helps get the energy levels up. I never even thought about that but I get it for that sport NFL because they're always about energy plays getting momentum through share will! They almost live off celebrations to soothe their ego's because even though its a team sport, it also very egocentric driven! So I get the celebrations if your team is very egocentric driven so the psychology for those sports or teams is they need to hype themselves up to build confidence! Teams like the All Blacks or Springboks etc don't really do that unless it's a big play like holding out defensively for 30 phases etc.

      I think they need to change. Im a kiwi and looking at the stats, 46 games played, england have only won 8. But thats historical data so what does it look like more recently? In the last decade england have won one game. I was there, the rwc in japan, it sucked getting beaten then hahah. But I remember when the abs were more dominant, teams said you need to score more tries vs the abs. I agreed and now I see england who I just cant believe there is a team with better defence at the moment. Its proper good. But look at the tries regardless, abs got 3 tries. So do england need more attack, or better attack, or less defence so that they arent as tired? its a tough question because every player on every team has a finite amount of energy to expend. The all blacks defence isnt lauded as being that good but england only scored one try. I think england need better attack. I think.

    For the love of god can someone please tell me why so many people say Dupont is the best player in the world? Better than this? Better than Kolbe? In my books Savea and PSDT are better than Dupont. Am I missing something? I genuinely want to know.

    • @08padam
      @08padam 6 дней назад

      Because Dupont can do absolutely everything at a world class level. He is the best 9 in 1v1, perfect pass, kicks of both feet, cross kick of both feet, 50-22 of both feet. Then in defence he finished2nd in the champions cup for turnovers (while being a 9), holds an opposite winger on his try line. When Kolbe played at Toulouse, everybody acknowledged that Dupont was the team’s Maestro. Kolbe is pure gold don’t get me wrong, one of the best wingers of the last 15 years, but not world class on other things than a winger’s job: good kicker (a good one but not world class), not a world class game manager (can help but not as a proper Test Match 10). Also Dupont as a 9 plays much closer to the defence and doesn’t have as many opportunities nor time to step defenders. Yet, he finished 1st or 2nd for defenders beaten, line breaks, meters made, turnovers. I don’t know if you realise what those stats actually mean. We have never seen this kind of stats in this competition, and we have seen the best players from north and south play in it. And when Dupont arrived in the France 7s team, they won the WC, Olympics another tournament and a 3rd place. Without him, no gold medal since 2005. That’s the scale of his impact. He is the most complete player we have ever seen. Kolbe is a complete player, but not world class like DuPont in other positions than winger. Dup could play 7 to 14 while still being the best on the field
