Do you think you could do a better job of marketing rugby that rugby itself? personally no its got to be a group or collective thing and a lot of work put in
Problem is most rugby unions and rugby organisations are run by old people that don't understand social media or technology. They should just get their grandchildren to help them out 🤣🤣🤣
I agree the rugby organisations who are running it its the old boys club dont know how to run the professional game or market it right and know nothing about social network media they also dont want to grow the game the old boys club need to step asides let some young up and coming admin in blood in some new young administration if the rugby teams on the field can blood in new and young players so should the administration off field too
Problem is simple In south africa we have 20 000 poeple for a school game The strongest team in the world Because we support and actually from a school base i had thousands watching me play ( grassrouts is the only way to keep them playing ) In NZ and as a south african i cant say enough good things for them they struggling for a full a staduim last couple of years And it is showing Australia even worst Get the kids playing support them and then watch it grow
There are 3 issues why rugby is not growing 1 is not caring about tier 2 nations like playing against stronger nations. 2 keep changing the rules all the time with turns people off 3 money 1st and growing next and not putting future of the gane 1st plus people in charge of social media that are not use to it
Another great video and one that both shocks me and yet, doesn't surprise me. Rugby union is falling apart through its outdated traditions. I was really taken aback by the lack of advertising for the Welsh women's games, as if you go on Scottish rugby's social media; they're always posting about the women whenever they're playing.
Rugby used to be 15 a side. Now you never know how many plyers will be left standing at the end of the game. I wish the refs would stop playing cards. Give the opposition a free tap. We used to love working out set moves when we were young. It's just a thought.
As a South African, from the outset I felt sanzar was a vehicle for the promotion of All Black rugby (as opposed to Rugby in the 3 regions), and Super Rugby as the feeder to an AB bandwagon. All about the money and one brand. Watching mainstream media it came to me that NZ teams, and the Blacks in particular, don't ever lose games. Most are won, a few are stolen, and when that happens the IRB has to Do Something - i.e. change the rules. I drifted away from TRC & Super rugby. Much to my surprise though, here in SA the game thrives despite the dinosaurs and greedy muggers running the show. You might say in spite of itself. It was a relief when our super teams threw in the towel and moved out of sanzar into the European theatre. I've come back to watching those games - there are fewer of them and the quality across the board is more stable. As for TRC, I don't care much for the competition tbh, win or lose. I'd be happier with an AB or Wallaby tour every 3 or so years, ala the Lions. I do still listen to the games (as opposed to mainstream TV - & streaming is a rip off). Might go to a pub with some mates for some of the games. Listening to the 'pundits' on mainstream broadcasters - whatever the jersey - its just a turnoff. Pearl clutchers everyone. Keeping up with the games on social media using a blend of 'amateurs' which includes the likes of 2 cents, WildKard et al is pretty rewarding. There's life after the TRC.
On TRC the BBC website shows absolutely nothing in terms of news before matches. I know TRC aren't their local competition, but now listening to this I'm wondering if there isn't anything worth reporting coming out of TRC sources before games.
You know why Rugby is not growing? It’s because the sport is run by British Elitist Poofs (BEPs). They don’t want to grow the sport (as evident with their intentions to keep the game ‘amateur’ for almost the last century). It took Australian billionaires (Murdoch and Packer) to force the BEP’s to open the game to professionalism because top rugby players were being bought by rugby league clubs in the mid 90’s 😂🤣
We call them hoorah's. They are incredibly wealthy English private elite schooled boffins. They aren't Scottish or Irish and they certainly aren't Welsh. They can't speak Galeg, nor Gailic and know nothing about Cymraeg. The British broad brush themism is wholly inaccurate and silly.
Misleading title. The content is all about Why the Rugby Championship isn't growing on social media and not about the game of rugby not growing. Not that it isn't interesting to go over this subject, but the other would be better.
Exactly, a quick look at the strides World Rugby have made in growing the game over the last decade would show otherwise. 1. I'm not a fan of WR at all but credit where its due. 2. Social media is a different beast and I agree to market to that specific demo who lives on IG/TikTok or uses it alot they could be better. Twitter/X has always been used in the past for live scoring and commentary, It seems they dont really need that IG/TikTok demo at the moment for 15s with the TV rights money but I do see them reaching out for 7s as the strategy seems a lot more modern around that format
Hard to believe I don’t rock with insta I have an account just don’t look at it 😂 but this is koretake there is a place for old farts in rugby but some of this sounds like old farts club

Agreed, big Sky are even worse considering they're the broadcaster!

South Africa will eventually join the Six Nations. New Zealand's problem
Or Ireland can join the rugby championship
@ChinaNumbaWon, that wouldn't happen, same with SA issue
