Bico is a great first larp! you only have to do what you are comfortable with! im just now getting comfortable with role playing so dont feel like you have to be good or like everything! What rules are you talking about? you dont have to swing light. this is not a light touch larp. most people hit with enough force to feel it and we are there have fun not get hurt or hate each other. we all party in a medieval village after these battles.

This is at a place called Bicolline in Quebec Canada. This isnt light touch combat but you are not supposed to hit as hard as you can. you will get a horrible reputation for being a a hole and nobody will like you. We are out her to have fun not to try to hurt each other. They do have Buhurt that is extreme combat. You may like that.

Have you heard of the wonderfully place called Bicolline!? It is located a little over an hour north of Montreal! I could give you some tips on good ways to go for your first time! After your first year you will have a better idea of what you want from your experiences at bico!

The snow would be to deep in that area most likely. I am planning to do a smaller battle and tavern night in November so the temp should be similar.

I personally do not use a phone to take photos or pictures. It's very hard to hide and it can look unnatural (like people do when they do the hollow book). I use a go pro. It's small enough that I can hold it in my hand or have it hidden easier. I turn off all the lights such as the red light and both front and back screens. I also turn off the beeps. On the battlefield I have all black armor and the gopro kinda blends into my helmet when I have it attached.

Do you speak English? I only speak a tiny tiny amount of French so you absolutely do not need to know French to have a great time!

There is definitely a lot of role play in bicolline combat. You get 1 hit per location, Head included. Leather and chain give you one extra point and plate that is thick enough gets you two points to all covered areas. The fighting is counting your hits and going down when you are dead. When it is safe or when told by a marshal you get up and get out of the way. Dead bodies can be a obstacle for a minute or two. I have watched the combat in epic and I don't know if I would enjoy it since I love the reality and speed of the combat at bicolline. Not sure if the battles are pre determined at epic but the battles at bicolline are not scripted or pre determined. I would suggest watching the grand battle videos. To me they show a better idea of bico combat.

@@jancux9632 Im saying that just because the entire combat is not made up and roleplayed doesnt mean that there isnt still a ton or roleplaying going on! not everyone just takes a knee. a lot of people roleplay elaborate deaths. You may not have noticed the multiple elaborate monsters on the field that are roleplaying that they are monsters. There are also healers that are roleplaying their role as healers and healing people. Im also curious what you mean when you say that there is a lot of weapon fidgeting?

That's a great question! I don't use discord a lot except foe my specific guild discord but I think there is just a bicolline discord that you may be able to start with. I don't know what your financial situation is but I use a travel package that makes it really simple and easy but it's not cheap.

@@TallianAdventures we do indeed rent a building next to the trollball field! however, we are setting up camp in la cité this year! the building ended up being a bit too crowded of a hang out space last GB. we'll be right next to the mage tower and sharing a campsite with the Magpies! also, my name is Fia! Fia Notvik. i am a half elf artisan with druidic tendencies, although you will not find me using any in-game magic. i came with the Pelt to the 1023 BP & GB last year, as well as the 1024 BP this year. i will fight one or two battles, but i mostly spend time in town, making music, crafting, calligraphy, helping with quests, cooking, supporting my guildmates and friends in their competitions and endeavors. hit me up if you need any letters written or signs made!
