Dumper dived garbage turned 2008 gaming PC! Windows Vista?
Vote for the sleeper case here: www.patreon.com/posts/which-case-for-114010591?Link&
The Pentium II video is being put on a short hold while I figure out IDE controller issues, so in the meantime, here, look at this garbage I found!
All jokes aside, I actually love this PC. Sure, the case is utterly garbage (pun intended), but it has it's charm... As long as you are not trying to build something inside it.
I'm hoping to have the Pentium II system done this coming weekend, but if that falls through again, I can always finish the new video editing sleeper PC.

Vintage Pentium 4-3-2-1! Part two, the PIII and Windows 2000 gaming PC! A difficulty spike indeed!

In a recent video, I pulled several motherboards out of my collection, and after some testing, found then to at least appear to be fully functional. Not quite knowing what to do with them, I have decided this would be a great opportunity to use them as a learning experience, and maybe make some interesting content while doing so! Here we are, taking another step back in time to the Pentium 3, a...

    It hurt a little to know that you installed 7 just to record Vista, you just had to use the ISO with Ventoy on the boot Pendrive or Rufus for example.

    • @LowSpecActionSquad
      @LowSpecActionSquad День назад

      I actually tried Rufus first, but the motherboard would fail to boot from it when I tried. I also tried Ventoy after that, but although it would successfully boot to the .iso selection menu in Ventoy itself, once I selected Vista it would hang on a black screen for a solid two minutes, then power cycle. I didn't think that would make entertaining content, but you can actually see me removing the Ventoy thumb drive from the back of the PC when I eventually get the installer going. I know the .iso file was good too, because the .iso I had on my Ventoy thumb drive was the same one I burned to the DVD lol

      It's kind of a bad design lol, there is a fan in front that is extremely difficult to access, the permanently installed front third of the side panel makes installing long cards difficult, even though the case should support them, and there are ZERO holes to screw in expansion cards, they expect you to use their proprietary tool-less hold down system, but this case is missing some sort of bracket that is required to hold down cards. The previous owner had jammed a screw into a slot near to where the graphics card was, and I had to do the same thing

      @@LowSpecActionSquad I remember one other interesting tidbit about SL and Vista from back in Vista's day. You could leave SL running on a vista machine, Fire up a windows 7 machine and log into the same account there, And you'd be on both at the same time and I only ever had that happen with a Vista machine. Quite curious to see if a modern SL client would still do it or if they patched it out.

    Family had that same tower in around 1995, ours came with a 486 DX4 100 and a year or so later was upgraded to a Pentium 120. I think my parents still have the old case sitting in their attic somewhere though I live on another continent now. Windows ME, otherwise known as Windows Meh Edition or Maybe Edition, as in, maybe it will work today. It was a terrible attempt at blending new features with the windows 95/98 backend, horribly unstable and highly unreliable. That is a pretty sweet Super Socket 7 board, well worth sorting out it's bad caps. It should support just about every socket 7 CPU by the look of it. The mouse will probably work on restart, I don't think ME or 98 supported USB plug and play without needing a restart.

      @@Xaltar_ that makes a lot of sense, I've had good luck with winds 98 supporting Plug and Play USB mice, but only after I install modern USB drivers. The main reasons nobody gamed on Win 2000 was the same reasons you don't game on NT. Half the requirements for hardware access aren't there, and the other half are blocked system side if they detect anything "Weird" (Basically anything an enterprise PC shouldn't be doing.) We had a few Win 2000 machines in the office when I used to do helpdesk and all we ever used them for was glorified MP3 players.
