    Mr. Salter, Please don’t fall for the low class chicken shit comments made by others. We can all see right through it and for those that can’t, I don’t want to know them let alone acknowledge them any further than this statement. Actions speak louder than words. Hanging our hat on what ever we chose is our prerogative. Hanging our hats in places defined by chicken shits will only make a shit head out of us. Let them play tic tac toe in their own blood and shit soaked cockpit. They’re making a mistake and are only wishing to interrupt.

      I’ll apologize ahead of time. When you donate your own hard earned money towards someone else’s efforts. Only to see them shit on other people you respect, not once but twice now. It burns my ass. It’s a real simple concept in life. We’ve all heard it. “To whom much is given, much is expected.” I’ve voted with my dollars on people, not just a few but many, so please excuse I will not dignify their name nor will waste another penny on their efforts. I only hope that others can rise above what’s already beneath them. Nobody is perfect. Some just set out to prove themselves contrary to any goodness and I can’t ignore it.

    Hi Brian Thanks for your wealth of knowledge that you are sharing My question is when you measure the valve diameter and throat diameter to a 90% difference as an example but when you convert those two dimensions to area those two dimensions are no longer at 90% it’s now less so I was hoping you could help me out with this Thanks Anthony

      @ Hi Brian So when you measure through the port you measure the cross sectional area when you measure the throat and valve I’m wondering if we should be measuring the cross sectional area and taking a percentage of that rather than a percentage of the two diameters Thanks Anthony

    Another thing that I've seen and know about is water pump impellers. You really can't tell if a water pump is a certain flow direction (reverse flow versus standard flow) by the impeller because depending on the design of the entire pump those fins can be angled differently, mostly to avoid cavitation. This is somewhat addressed by the rpm the pump is spinning, which you covered, but it's just an inherent characteristic of whatever pump. Also, the number of fins those impellers have can be a topic. They rob power and if the engine is always at higher rpm all of those fins might not be needed to move the water required depending on a lot of other factors of course. There can be benefits to trimming fins off of water pumps in some cases. This was a trick I know was used in IMSA and SCCA racing on smaller engines back in the 80's and 90's for sure.

  • @rocketsurgeon11
    @rocketsurgeon11 День назад

    The less fin count per inch making an improvement in cooling actually surprised me. Thinking about it, it makes sense now, but I think part of my confusion was from a short presentation I saw many years ago during a NASCAR race where they were talking about the aerodynamics of the cars on super speedways and at that time they basically were making it so air DIDN'T go through the radiator by using fins at angles, which improved the aerodynamics of the cars and helped on those big tracks. At least that is the way it was presented more than 20 years ago now. My question is, was their explanation correct and if so, it that only applicable in that use case?

    • @SalterRacingEngines
      @SalterRacingEngines День назад

      @@rocketsurgeon11 superspeedways are a different animal we don't even use the same power steering pump at those tracks. I was referring to very low or very poor airflow through the radiator and the lower fin count made a big difference. When NASCAR first went to EFI every single race the cars are overheating like crazy and now you don't hardly ever see it. A lot has changed in 20 years

    Nope, nope and nope. Always ground as close to your weld as possible. If doing exhaust, ground goes on the very end. Better yet, put V-clamps on it and pull it to weld it. I've welding in chemical plants, on pump bases with electric motors and pumps on them, that can't be removed. We ground away from the pump, and if we can, put insulator blinds in. Same issue as what you're talking about. Makes bad bad things happen.

  • @flinch622
    @flinch622 День назад

    Welders I've worked with that have experience with magnetism problems can't get their arc right: it dances/pulls and putting a good bead down means a wrap or two around the pipe with their welding lead to nullify the residual field. The story here as told sounds like a return path problem: welding on one frame rail with return probably attached to the other [or midplate] and... sounds like all current passed through the motor to get there. I have always observed this, welding or gouging: anything with bearings in it has to be safeguarded - current can go around, but never through. As for valves with lash taking the hit? Other valves were off the seat, and clean oil [in guides] was acting as an insulator.

By far the most common question I get on my channel is "why do you keep removing the pipe from the car to tack it? just tack it on the car" so I fully appreciate what you're saying, but just because there are some bad guy's out there, it doesn't mean we're all the same.✌👍
