Hey Brian I been building engines a long time too. Still trying to learn more every day you are really good at videos. Definitely know what you mean by you need to get paid for the engines and hard work
Thanks for taking the time to do this for us. I will be re facing valves your way instead of the old school. I do need to update my collet to a modern one. Most amateur shops don't check the concentricey.
Once again, great information. And yes, the details matter, always. Thank you for showing what you show us. Gives a good base to maybe narrow the margin of learning your small tricks. I've got no problem putting in work!
Is it true that a nascar engine will stay together than a drag engine I know they stay in higher rpms for hours and do you show on how to improve on on engines thank you for what you do
I agree.... (obviously) and also besides the fact that Drag Race Engines only have to stay together for a quarter of a mile --- whereas Circle Track endurance and even Marine hi-perf/Offshore Racing with their extremely super high load/high stress type stuff must stay together and be able to endure for many miles and several minutes if not hours. 🧐
I've always wondered if the high quality heads could be made better. Curious to see this build as I have similar block and the heads are straight out the box. Being busy is a good thing 🏁🏁🏁
Hi Brian. At what lift point does the 50 degree seat gain over the 45? If it is at modest lift is there any reason to stay with 45 degree seats any more? Thank you for taking the time to show us at home ways to make our engines better. Andrew
They say if you have to ask you can’t afford it, but, with the engine for the competition, what ballpark are we talking about? How crazy is it going to be?
And no run of the mill "5 angle" either. I'm the the width of each cut are specified for the application. Ever since my first day of Automotive Technology at UTI I've been fascinated with air and the valve job angle importance. I spent hours on hours cutting valve seats with Neway carbide cutters. Good stuff Brian.
@@guillermodavila9397 if you're talking about integrated valve seats I will be checking it often If the valve starts pulling up in the head the first thing you'll see is the valve adjustment getting tight and if you see that happening then you know the head is giving up
@@SalterRacingEngines Hi. Now that is something I haven't thought of. What kind of flow or hp potential is that worth? Man I need to start thinking a whole lot more. Andrew
@@andrewburlock2653 that's not the only angle that can be had in some cases. Depending on where the seat contacts the valve....ie. 0.200" from the margin, angles can start there towards the margin.
I read a story about people during the Great Depression that in short said…. You could find 700 people asking for a job, almost no one telling you what value they can bring to your business.
@Red9GearHeads what value I can bring kinda depends on what a shop might need. If they are not in need of another employee I can bring no value to that shop. That's not to say I have no value. I have alot of value if someone is looking for more help. What kind of value ill discuss with whomever I might find that needs the help.

Loved hearing about your English Teacher story and what he told you about the little details. I enjoyed your video, Professor Salter, brother. 👍

Cool information! Waiting on my shirt.
I think your customer is going to be very happy with the 355. Good power and I think it's going to rev fast. Hope he has a rev limiter. LOL
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT EVERYONE
Thank you for sharing your experience with us all.

Yes, 604 crate engine rods are powdered metal rods.
Thanks Brian, another great video.
More great teaching, thank you. We appreciate your efforts.
Angle valve job certainly shows a good flowing rounded shape effect on the valve and the head. 👍
The weather is the same here in Fayetteville as well lol. Engine competition? That's AWESOME!!!!! Good luck brother!!!

@20:00 you can really see the difference in the way the light reflects off the seats, that it's going to flow a lot better.
great info,,,and video,,,thanks
Thank you Brian. Curious, what changes, if any, when resurfacing a titanium valve?
Respect 😎 thx for sharing and teaching ❤️
I got a 6 7 Galaxy 500 fastback. I'd love to put that motor in
Question Brian.....
SBF....production block.....why not 435ci(4.040") or 440ci(4.060")? The 4.250" crank will fit.
He had a cubic inch limit in the rules
@SalterRacingEngines ah....shit, sorry I must've missed that.
@arturozarate1752 I don't think I mentioned that
I personally would not choose that size
@SalterRacingEngines curious. How much rpm are you planning to turn?
Thanks for the video. God bless.
Snotty 355! Great high output street combo!
Brian Salter Racing Engines = No doubt. 🏁🏁🏁Thank you Professor Brian for all you do. Greatly appreciated.
I see a 5 angle valve job....
Brother, just go back to the Ranger high and tight and don't worry about that hair. LOL

It helps at the very top Max lift
