    Now that you've had it running for a while, do you feel it's as efficient as you originally hoped? Have you tracked how much water is moved each time the pump turns on to heat the tank? It looked like in your first video, that the "heater" was turning on every 30 minutes or so, and would stay on for 10 minutes at a time. Not too bad. That does make me think that legionella isn't really a concern because the lines are being flushed every 30 minutes, which is way more often than most hot water taps in a house. So it seems that legionella would be even less of a concern with a hot water heating system, even if it was just done using coiled pex in a sump. Does that sound right? Or am I missing something? Also, you mentioned in your first video, that with this system you could heat your tanks even during a power outage, but I don't understand how that would be the case if the system requires the pump to make it work. Any clarity you have to offer, is greatly appreciated! Thanks for being so willing to share your knowledge!

    I bought the heat exchanger. I have a 250 gallon system and going to give it a go. I’m a plumber so the piping should be easy. I’m going to use a circular pump with a mixing valve off the boiler to be able to adjust my feed temp. To turn the pumps on I’m going to use my INKBIRD controller off a rib relay. Most of those grundfos circulators have built in check Valves. And no need for a zone valve if that circulator is only controller 1 zone ie. aquarium

    How is that heat exchanger holding up. My only concern is it getting a pin hole and leaking boiler water into my aquarium

    DUDE! Long term exposure to copper kills living things! If you have copper pipes in your house, you're probably ok, if you don't use copper fittings in your sump system. Some fish are okay with copper exposure (many fresh water fish are ok... kinda). Some marine (salt water) fish (the more expensive ones) will be killed by exposure to copper. Inverts will be killed by copper. I'd LOVE to do this for my 500 gal Reef and 900 gal FOWLR (angel fish) tank. But there'd have to be a no-copper solution. Once copper gets into your tank... pretty d**n hard to get it out.

    • @dbr_reef340
      @dbr_reef340 8 месяцев назад

      The copper and the saltwater system are completely separate, so it is not a concern. Definitely don’t use a copper heat exchanger 😂

      He said the dosing pump feeds into a manifold fed by the return pump. You could easily plumb the feeder manifold return directly to the tank. I think that would be ideal.

    Ok so a few quick questions. 1. I plug the UPS in like normal after? 2. How do I regulate charging? 3. How do I power the wavemaker? Directly off the UPS instead of its power adapter?

    • @dbr_reef340
      @dbr_reef340 3 года назад

      1. Yes 2. The UPS does that for you 3. Use the wavemakers power supply- you only want the wavemaker powered through the battery if power fails- the wavemaker will automatically switch over

      @StNovaSt 3 года назад

    if anyone watches this add a FUSE as close as possible to the + on the battery, the reason why it was sparking when testing is because it was been earthed out and wasn't fused, so it will burn your house down if not fused when it fails.
